The light and delicious motsunabe was good. It would be even better if there was a bit more of a price advantage though.

The weekend has arrived! Today, let's have a drink on the way home. So, I visited a motsunabe (offal hot pot) restaurant called "Bon" located on my commute route. The whole building seemed to be Bon, but the 1st floor turned out to be a Western-style restaurant. I'll have to try that next time. Anyway, I climbed the stairs to the 2nd floor. Each step of the stairs had "Bon Motsunabe" written on it. I entered the restaurant. Inside, there were a few counter seats and 4 sunken kotatsu tables. It was cozy with just the owner and his wife. The wife offered me a sunken kotatsu table, but since I was alone, I chose to sit at the counter. I ordered a bottle of beer and a single serving of motsunabe, with an extra order of garlic. Along with the beer, vinegar motsu was served as an appetizer. While waiting for the motsunabe to be ready, I enjoyed the vinegar motsu. The owner finished arranging the vegetables in the pot and set it on the gas stove. It seems they serve the motsunabe with grated yam. It was my first time trying that. The pot started boiling, so I dug in. The motsu here was a mix of various types of offal, not just the chewy small intestines. It also had cabbage, leeks, and burdock. The menu besides motsunabe was limited. Overall, it's a restaurant mainly focused on motsunabe. Although the offal wasn't super chewy, the prices are reasonable, making it a casual place to visit. That's it for my review!

Update: I remembered this place after 2 years, and the yamaimo (mountain yam) was amazing. I could easily eat three servings! This time, when I checked this review again, it showed that the 850 yen motsunabe course was now 800 yen, but when I showed it to the staff, they said they were unaware of such a display on this website. Nevertheless, the food was delicious so it didn't bother me. Thank you for the meal. I visited during a business trip. When you think of Fukuoka, you think of motsunabe, right? I imagined chewy, fatty motsu, but it was surprisingly light. And the yamaimo sauce was a first for me, and I enjoyed it. The vinegar motsu that came as a starter was also delicious! I even had seconds. It was raining outside the hotel where I was staying, and this motsunabe restaurant happened to be visible from the window. It was a great decision to dine there! When I visit Fukuoka again, this will definitely be one of the places I want to go back to. Thank you for the meal!

Family of three had dinner at a place called "Bon," a motsunabe (offal hot pot) restaurant that my partner recently saw in a free paper. It's located right behind the Nishibu Gas headquarters. We thought it was only on the 2nd floor, but it turns out there's also a 3rd floor. However, it seems to be run by just a husband and wife. We ordered three servings of motsunabe at 850 yen each, which is still quite reasonable. While waiting for the hot pot to cook, we had some sashimi and beer. During the cooking process, our child wanted to try the Jidori chicken, so we added that as well for 400 yen per serving. They recommended dipping it in grated yam. It was interesting and the mild taste was enjoyable. For the finishing touch, we had champon noodles for two and zousui (rice porridge) for two. We managed to finish everything cleanly. Even with three beers and one juice, the total cost for three people was around 6000 yen, which is quite reasonable. It's great that they are open on Sundays too.

A restaurant that serves motsunabe with grated yam sauce. I used to go there when I was a student, so I'm worried if it's still there, but I think the grated yam sauce is rare, so I'd like to revisit the place if I have the chance. I remember they had a parking lot for a few cars, but it's only a 1-minute walk from Chiyokenchomae subway station, so it might be better to use the subway. It's been a long time since my last visit, so I'll refrain from giving a rating.

We went to the restaurant without making a reservation with two colleagues. We toasted with shochu (Shimajin), had 3 pieces of sashimi, a pot of motsunabe for 3 people, 2 servings of champon, and 3 servings of porridge to finish. The motsunabe with yam sauce was really delicious.
