▼Location▼ Located 100m south of Kintetsu Kawachi-Kosaka Station, on the left side of Sun Road Kosaka. ▼About the Shop▼ Mooya is a long-established Japanese and Western confectionery shop founded in 1952. The main store is in Fuse, and this Kosaka store has a factory in the back. They are popular for their various jumbo manju and fruit daifuku. ▼Menu▼ They offer a variety of Japanese sweets such as their famous jumbo manju, and Western sweets like various fruit daifuku. ▼Food Tried▼ ▽Genmai and Kuzu Cream Puff 160 yen▽ A cream puff made with roasted genmai (brown rice) in the dough, filled with a special custard cream thickened with Yoshino kuzu (arrowroot). The dough has a nice crispy texture and flavor, while the cream inside is a deliciously sweet custard with a gentle taste. ▽Fresh Dorayaki 150 yen▽ A simple looking dorayaki with a moist and fluffy dough, filled with a cream made of red bean and whipped cream. The light cream with a hint of red bean flavor is delicious, making the overall impression positive. ▼Impressions▼ Mooya is a popular long-established Japanese and Western confectionery shop founded in 1952 in Higashi Osaka, with stores in Fuse and Kosaka. They are known for their variety of jumbo manju and fruit daifuku. I have bought sweets from the Fuse store many times in the past, but it had been a while since I visited Mooya. I tried the two items mentioned above, and both were delicious. The cream puff had a great balance of the dough and cream, and the cream in the dorayaki was tasty. It's impressive that they continue to develop products that appeal to current tastes while maintaining their traditional roots. I would like to try their fruit daifuku and cakes next time I have the chance.

If the high school baseball team's female manager reads Drucker's "Management", it may not have any particular characteristics. The peach dorayaki from Momoya is not overly sweet, but rather has a delicious taste that is not too fancy. It could be a dessert option after breakfast.

I bought a regular dorayaki and it was delicious. But then a friend gave me a jumbo manju with "chestnut" and "persimmon"... It was really huge. It was filled with a lot of white bean paste. The chestnut manju had a massive amount of filling. It may make a big impression, but it was too big and difficult to handle.

Momoya is a well-known traditional Japanese confectionery shop in Higashi-Osaka. Their extra-large chestnut steamed buns are especially famous. This time, I tried their nostalgic red and white manju. When I was a child, these manju were often present at celebrations. The red one was for my uncle, and the white one was for me (laughs). The soft skin and generous filling of sweet bean paste were delicious. With over 60 years of history, Momoya continues to be a beloved shop among the people of Higashi-Osaka.

I have never bought them myself, but I occasionally receive them as gifts. They are fruit daifuku at the level of convenience stores. They are really no different from the strawberry daifuku sold at convenience stores. It seems like they come out in various varieties depending on the season. I wonder if these fruits are real? When I think about whether traditional Japanese sweet shops are really making these, the taste feels rough and lacks delicacy. Even though they need to be refrigerated in the summer, they don't include ice packs. It's a small thing, so I wish they wouldn't be stingy. It must get damaged, right? Is it popular among older people like grandmas and grandpas? Is it easy to buy? I will continue to receive them in the future, so I hope they will be improved.

Located a short walk south of Kawachiosaka Station is "Gokashi Shi Momoya Kawasaka Store." Established in 1952, their main store in Fuse is known for being in the best location in Higashi-Osaka. Their specialty is the "Daikuri Manju" for 720 yen, a large steamed bun filled with plenty of sweet chestnut paste. I was hoping to try their "Strawberry Daifuku" on this day, but it was already sold out by lunchtime. Instead, I tried their "Nama Dorayaki" for 150 yen, which had a fluffy dorayaki pancake filled with plenty of red bean cream. The second-generation owner seems to have trained at the prestigious Shé Aotani, as they excel not only in traditional Japanese sweets but also in Western-style pastries. Looking forward to their future creations!

Is this the main store? There was a small factory-like facility behind the store. Various product names are posted at the entrance, including some unique items. In particular, the giant manju made with fruit is a must-see. As for me, I bought an ice cream (100 yen) and a yomogi mochi pie (200 yen). There were about 8 flavors of ice cream, all seemingly made in the store. The grapefruit flavor I chose was delicious with lots of fruit juice. Looking at the ingredients, it also contained milk, but the taste wasn't overpowering. It didn't melt easily even in the heat, which was good. And as for the yomogi mochi pie, I planned to eat it the next day at home, but when I woke up the next morning, it was gone... What a disappointment!

Momoya, a specialty confectionery in Fuse, offers a unique treat of daifuku with large chestnuts, peaches, persimmons, and oranges. This is a famous delicacy in Higashi Osaka. When given as a gift to people from other prefectures, they will surely be surprised and delighted. It's not just ordinary, nor is it aristocratic. The ability to surprise people with a luxurious yet down-to-earth extravagance is what makes it so special to Higashi Osaka. This is the essence of the culture in Fuse. While Momoya is known for its store in Fuse, the Kosaka store is located at the main entrance of the Momoya confectionery factory. This means that Kosaka is the headquarters of Momoya. Don't forget to try Momoya's ice candy, it's delicious. Grateful for the new taste legend!
