I had my first taste of raw corn in Hokkaido. I tried the "white" variety and it was incredibly sweet and juicy, very satisfying. I also had a potato croquette, can't remember the name but it was the "sweet" one. It was surprisingly sweet, I didn't know that different types of potatoes could have such different flavors.

My grandson wanted to eat some white corn. We happened to come here for the second time and saw the wonderful, beautiful scenery of Biei. However, it was very hot today so we had to give up. There were many foreigners and it was crowded. It's amazing that such a place attracts people who are not even Japanese. The white corn turned slightly yellow when it was boiled and it seems it was delicious. I had a sweet Hokkaido potato croquette. I ate it before I could even take a picture. The last photo is from a tourist spot called Blue Pond, which was beautiful.

This is the gift shop at Shikisai no Oka. Unfortunately, they started charging a 500 yen admission fee. The tractor ride on the trolley also costs 500 yen. It's a bit disappointing. I tried the boiled white corn and baron croquette at the gift shop. It was okay, but nothing special.

Visited Shikisai Hill♪ The weather was nice, perfect for a leisurely stroll. There were many beautiful flowers, so much fun! On the way back, I bought a "Lavender Mix (300 yen)" at the shop. It had a subtle lavender scent and flavor, not too sweet, and refreshing. It was delicious when chilled!! Thank you for the meal.

I went on a soft serve ice cream tour in Hokkaido for 3 days and visited 9 shops! This shop is located at Shikisai-no-Oka. Their specialty is the original soft serve ice cream made with milk from Biei. It was quite firm, more like a rich milk gelato than soft serve ice cream! Thank you for the delicious treat!

This is a report on Biei (lol). The Asahikawa tour is coming to an end soon! On the final day, we visited the "Shikisai no Oka"! The view here is absolutely breathtaking, it's so beautiful that it takes your breath away! This is definitely a highly recommended scenic spot!! And the melon soft serve ice cream here is delicious!! Now, to wrap up the Asahikawa tour, we will stop by Furano! It was incredibly delicious! Thank you for the meal.

There was a flower field like this for real, and on the second floor there is a restaurant or cafeteria. You buy food tickets. The corn soup is super delicious. It doesn't have corn kernels in it, but it leaves a texture on your tongue that is sweet and sweet. I thought it would be hard to eat, but it was surprisingly good. I wasn't expecting much from the soup curry, but it was surprisingly delicious! The vegetables are fresh and very filling. It would be perfect if they offered a small portion of rice.

In Biei-cho, Hokkaido, there is a scenic flower field called Shikisai-no-Oka. The hill is covered with colorful flowers (marigolds, salvias, cockscombs, dahlias, etc.) and it is truly spectacular. In the back, there are sunflower fields and fields of cockscomb, which are also impressive. You can rent a cart to go around, but I decided to walk and take my time. Despite being in Hokkaido, the weather was nice and warm, so I treated myself to a soft serve ice cream (350 yen). The taste was average, but the lavender color made it a bit more enjoyable.

The tour bus guide recommended the croquettes here, so I bought some for a snack. You can enjoy them on a bench inside the Four Seasons Hill park. There are two types of potatoes inside, one is fluffy and the other is moist. I couldn't really tell the difference, but the crispy coating is hot and delicious. There are also two types of corn, and I chose the white one. It was incredibly sweet and juicy when I took a bite. I've only had corn this delicious once before. It seems like freshness is key with corn. It costs 500 yen to enter the flower field, but this shop is outside the paid area. However, the endless flower fields are worth seeing, so be sure to check them out.

I extended my visit from Furano to the Blue Pond and then to Shikisai no Oka. Starting this year, they started charging an entrance fee of 500 yen per person from July to September. It used to be free like Farm Tomita, so it's quite impressive! The scenery inside the park is very Hokkaido-like, with beautiful flowers on the hills. Taking a tractor bus around the park also helped save time. I bought a croquette for 150 yen at the shop. They had a choice between Baron (lightly fluffy) and Hokkaido Red (slightly sweet), and I chose Hokkaido Red. It was frozen, but it had a strong flavor of locally grown potatoes, so for 150 yen, it was worth it. I hope they continue to do well. Grateful for the scenery and management here!

Since moving to Hokkaido, I have written many times about the phrase "scenery is a feast." This place is also one of those places. I visited Shikisai no Oka in Biei. It is a famous scenic spot in Biei with beautiful striped flower fields that look like a carpet. The flower beds are planted on hilly terrain, creating a unique landscape with gentle undulations, and the view is truly beautiful! This dynamic scenery is unique to Hokkaido. After strolling through the expansive flower fields, I bought a cut melon (250 yen - cheap!) at the on-site farm produce direct sales store and sat on a bench. I enjoyed the sweet and delicious melon while admiring the beautiful scenery. Reviewing unprocessed agricultural products may seem like a strange concept, but ultimately, fruits taste best when eaten fresh from the source. I received plenty of energy from the beautiful scenery and delicious melon. By the way, the shop also sells fresh corn for eating, soft serve ice cream, croquettes, and more. Furano and Biei are famous for lavender in July, but here you can enjoy various flowers from spring to autumn, so you might also be able to enjoy the scenery with the mountains' autumn foliage as a backdrop. Refresh your mood with the outstanding scenery, highly recommended!

~Hokkaido Trip Day 2~
In Biei Town, there is a flower field with a vast land full of blooming flowers, which is very soothing. The beautiful striped patterns of red, yellow, orange, and pink flowers make the field look like a carpet. There are also alpacas in the area, where you can feed them. However, be careful as they might spit at you! It's a secret that I got spit on by an alpaca here.
After enjoying the beautiful flowers and playing with the alpacas, it was lunchtime and I was hungry. So, I decided to have lunch here. The soy sauce ramen with a large, tender, and delicious chashu was amazing. The clear soup was also beautiful. I didn't have high expectations for the food at a place like this, but it was surprisingly delicious. Having a meal while looking at beautiful flowers adds a special touch to the experience. Thank you for the meal!

Shikisai-no-Oka is a must-see with its beautiful flower fields. It's like covering the hills of Biei with a sheet of flowers, creating a beautiful line of flowers. The scenery changes with the seasons, and you can tell that the flowers are well taken care of. There is a shop along the path to the flower fields, where last year I enjoyed some croquettes. This year, it was a very hot day. In the shop's refrigerator, there was a portion of cut melon. We shared it among 6 people. As that one piece of melon passed through my throat, it not only tasted sweet but also instantly cooled my body down. It had an amazing cooling effect. That one piece of melon was unforgettable. It was so delicious. Truly the famous Furano melon! It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I went on a trip to Hokkaido after many years. Just like last time, I joined a tour for this trip, and on the first day of the tour, we visited the Shikisai no Oka. My companion wanted to buy a Hokkaido red meat melon as a souvenir, so we went to the farm produce direct sales store before the tour to check out the melons. They were selling one slice of chilled melon for 300 yen, so we bought one to try. It was very sweet, juicy, and delicious, so we decided to have it sent as a souvenir without hesitation. After completing the melon shipping process, we finally went on the tour of Shikisai no Oka. It was a hot day, so we decided to enjoy the tour while eating soft serve ice cream. I chose melon flavor, and my companion chose a vanilla and raspberry mix, both priced at 300 yen. The melon flavor was rich and delicious, but the vanilla raspberry mix was a bit confusing, and we wondered what raspberry flavor actually tastes like as we ate it. The cold soft serve ice cream was delicious on a hot day, but it melted quickly, so we had to eat it in a hurry.

After visiting Biei Shrine, I came here next. It seems that the parking lot has become a paid one. This is my first time here. The landscape is fantastic, with flowers lined up straight like a palette. The hills of Biei are just wonderful! You can ride a tractor and go through the fields, which is interesting. In the shop, they have croquettes! Even though I'm full, I end up buying one (laughs). "Hokkaido sweet potato light" costs 130 yen. It's sweet and delicious, with a fluffy texture. Thank you to the local sweet potatoes. It was a delicious meal.

On the 3rd day of my Hokkaido trip, I entered Biei from Asahikawa and drove along the "Patchwork Road." Enjoying the magnificent scenery, I headed towards the destination...■ Shikisai-no-OkaWow, what a stunning view. Colorful flowers blooming in bands on undulating hills. The red, yellow, and pink lines spread across the vast hills, like a huge palette. To post this view on my food blog, I needed to eat something... I quickly bought a croquette. Although it wasn't freshly fried, the crispy coating was delicious. The croquette made with Hokkaido potatoes was simply tasty♪ A poster of "Shikisai-no-Oka" is posted next to the shop. It's the same as the view in front of me. Unfortunately, it was a cloudy day. If it had been a blue sky like the poster, the contrast would have been beautiful.【For more details, check out a more immersive blog】http://waraibuta2.blog.fc2.com/blog-entry-3756.html

After finishing a meal at a nearby udon restaurant, I decided to stop by this place. They have a variety of locally grown vegetables and souvenirs on display, making it a fun place to browse. The croquettes looked delicious, so I bought some for dinner. To warm them up later, I wrapped them in kitchen paper, placed them on a plate, and lightly heated them. Then, I transferred them to aluminum foil and put them in the toaster oven, adjusting the heat to prevent the breadcrumbs from burning. Once the oil bubbles started appearing on the surface and the breadcrumbs became crispy, I turned off the heat and let them sit in the residual heat for 2 minutes without opening the oven door. This method should recreate the freshly fried texture. It may require a bit of effort, but it's worth trying. Oh, and about the photo? I already ate it... ( ̄∀ ̄)笑

Visited with a friend at GW. Restaurant at Shikisai no Oka. The interior of the restaurant is like a school cafeteria and can definitely accommodate over 100 people. Surprisingly, you can eat deer meat here. Truly Hokkaido. Without hesitation, I ordered the deer fillet cutlet set meal for ¥1400. Served in about 10 minutes. The cutlet is eaten with a special sauce. The meat is quite thin. However, it surprisingly has a good flavor. The taste is not as gamey as I expected! Thank you, deer!

I stopped by after visiting Asahiyama Zoo. The wind was strong, and powder snow was swirling up, causing occasional whiteout conditions... It's fine for tourists to have a little experience, but it must be tough for the drivers who are responsible for other people's lives. This is "Shikisai no Oka". The first floor is a shop, and the second floor is a restaurant. The travel brochure recommended the soup curry. Although they also offered venison with deer meat, I decided to go with the soup curry based on the excellent reviews I read. The soup curry cost 1,100 yen. It came in a surprisingly large bowl, not only wide but also deep. The taste was similar to the curry I had last night at the hotel. It was slightly sweet and spicy. The deep-fried vegetables were delicious, especially the eggplant. The bone-in chicken meat sank to the bottom, but it was tender and easily fell apart with a spoon. It was delicious, but my expectations were too high, making it hard to meet them. The accompanying salad had a sweet white corn axis that stood out. Corn in winter is just lovely ♡ You can also buy vacuum-packed corn at the shop on the first floor, but I decided not to. I also bought a Furano lavender cider for 220 yen. It had a beautiful color and a faint lavender scent that lingered in the nose. It was lightly carbonated. Thank you for the meal. There is also an alpaca ranch nearby, and you can enjoy snowshoeing with a reservation. I would like to visit again in the flower season to see the Patchwork Road.

I moved from Furano to Biei Town and it seems like Biei is the main attraction. Personally, I don't have any good memories of Biei. I came to "Biei Shikisai no Oka" but I didn't come here expecting to see flowers. The timing is way off anyway, so the flowers aren't in full bloom. But there are still some flowers here and there, not as much as expected though. When the right season comes, I'm sure it will be beautiful. There are a lot of cars and even more people, with buses full of Asian tourists. I wanted to have soft serve ice cream but my wife made a face, so we ended up getting croquettes instead. There are also alpacas here, but I'd rather have croquettes than eat alpacas. It costs 500 yen to see the alpacas, so we decided to skip it. I remember a similar situation in Kenbuchi. I do want to see the alpacas, but I'm not willing to pay for it. If someone paid me, I might consider it. I bought croquettes, choosing "Hokkaido Akari" over "Danshaku". The lady at the shop had the typical tourist shop vibe, not too pushy, which I don't mind. The croquette was dense and had fine fibers, I prefer a more airy texture. But the taste was good, especially since it was made with Hokkaido Akari potatoes.
