かわとよ
This is a standing sushi restaurant under the elevated structure of Tenkacha-ya. It seems to be a takeaway shop that was previously known as Koshin-ya in this area. Around 8 PM, I happened to see it and decided to jump in. There was one older man already inside, and then I entered, making it two customers. The gentle owner was running the place by himself. I started with a beer. Boiled peanuts, which I love, were served as a service, not as an appetizer. I happily accepted and enjoyed them. For side dishes, I had rockfish tataki and oyster ponzu, both of which were delicious. The rockfish tataki with garlic was particularly good. And all of this for only 400 yen each, which is a great deal. I quickly finished my beer and ordered some sake. I tried a sake called Tateyama from Toyama. I asked for the recommended 5 pieces of sushi. I left the selection to the owner, who said he could add 1 or 2 pieces if I had any requests. The sushi included squid, sea urchin on top of flounder, flounder marinated in kombu, scallop, saury, and eel. The flounder marinated in kombu was delicious. It had been a while since I had sea urchin with alum, but it wasn't to my taste. Despite the owner saying it was full and couldn't take any more customers, four middle-aged ladies barged in. Oh well, Osaka ladies are indeed strong! The two older men squeezed to the side, and the ladies managed to fit in. To apologize for the wait, the owner served me egg and mountain burdock pickles as a service. I graciously accepted and enjoyed them. Since I received something nice, I ordered another round of sake. Still hungry, I asked for 5 more pieces of sushi. I had tuna, yellowtail, sweet shrimp, flounder marinated in kombu, and sea urchin soy sauce marinated. The tuna and sea urchin soy sauce marinated were delicious. I had forgotten to mention that I didn't want sea urchin (cries). Finally, I had ikura and green onion. I purchased a roll of nori and 2 packs of inari as souvenirs, and the total bill came out to just under 6000 yen. I was surprised at how affordable it was! With this quality and price, I'm sure this place will become popular. I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the meal.
