旅浪漫
In Adventure World in Shirahama, Wakayama Prefecture, the popular "Fuhin" panda, born on November 22 last year, is attracting a lot of attention. Another adorable animal that is gaining popularity is Hou-chan, a polar bear born on November 25 last year at Tennoji Zoo in Osaka. Hou-chan was born to father Gogo and mother Icchan. Interestingly, the famous company Horai, known for "551's Pork Buns," donated Hou-chan. With Gogo, Icchan, and Hou-chan, it's like "551's Hou..." Maybe the next one will be named Raichan (laughs). I thought it would be a donation from the ice candy brand Hokkyoku because it's a polar bear, but it turned out to be from Horai and it's a bit confusing (laughs). A new facility opened at Tennoji Zoo on March 9 this year. "TENNOJI ZOO MUSEUM," "FooZoo," and "GooZoo" are the learning facility, dining establishment, and souvenir shop, respectively, located just inside the Shinsekai Gate. I decided to try the famous "Shirokuma Crepe" at FooZoo. The Shirokuma Crepe costs 650 yen (tax included). First, you purchase a ticket from one of the two vending machines. The system automatically sends your order to the kitchen when you purchase the ticket, so you don't need to hand the ticket to the staff. You check your number and wait for your order to be ready. The monitor on the wall and announcements in the store will let you know when your order is ready. You receive your crepe at the pickup window on the right side. The store was almost full due to spring break, so I decided to enjoy my crepe on the bench outside. The "Shirokuma Crepe" is over 20cm long and features an adorable polar bear face reminiscent of Hou-chan! The face is made of vanilla ice cream from Dippin' Dots, chocolate chips for the eyes and nose, and marshmallows for the hands. The crepe is topped with banana, strawberry, and a luxurious chocolate sauce. It looks too cute to eat. Be careful as the chocolate sauce may drip from the bottom. After enjoying the crepe, I visited Hou-chan, the polar bear, who was napping with his mother, Icchan. I hope that Icchan and Hou-chan, both endangered species, will live long and healthy at Tennoji Zoo.
