I had lunch at Hakata Daimaru and then went to Higashiyama for beef tongue. It's located on the top floor of Elgara. It was a holiday, but we were seated right away. September 10th was apparently beef tongue day, so there was a limited menu available. I ordered the three-flavor miso beef tongue set. The spicy miso was quite spicy, so it might be difficult for children. The regular miso was just average. The yuzu miso had a nice aroma and went well with the beef tongue, it was delicious. It would have been nice if they had barley rice instead of regular rice since there was grated yam. Eating beef tongue for lunch is quite luxurious, isn't it?

I like Rikyu in Hakata Station Building, and I thought there wouldn't be another good place like that in Canal City, so I wondered about this place. I'll come back to eat when I'm in Tenjin! It met my standards for beef tongue. I ordered the special beef tongue set meal for 3,280 yen, and it was delicious.

This is a shop located on the 6th floor of Daimaru's Elgala. I sometimes use it when shopping at the department store. This time, I ordered the "Beef tongue and Sendai beef lean steak set meal." In the past, I thought the beef tongue was too tough to chew, but this time it was very juicy and had a good texture, yet it was tender and easy to chew. My perception has changed! However, the lean steak was quite tough. As it is lean meat, I was prepared for it, but I could feel the fibers and it was difficult to chew. I thought having only beef tongue might get boring, so I chose a set meal with lean steak as well, but it seems better to just go for the beef tongue set. The set meal comes with salad, rice, soup, etc., so I recommend it.

There are plenty of menu options, but I decided to go with the beef tongue stew and grilled beef tongue set, and the Tozanset meal because I like to try a variety of dishes. It comes with oxtail soup, barley rice, and grated yam. The small side dishes include ginger-stewed beef tongue, beef tongue stew, and grilled beef tongue, which is quite a luxurious spread. They also offer extra rice, so even men can be satisfied. The grilled beef tongue is crispy, the stew is tender, and the ginger-stewed beef tongue is moist. Each dish offers a different taste of beef tongue and they are all delicious. The spicy Nanban miso, which is essential for beef tongue, adds a nice accent. I enjoyed it on the beef tongue and rice. I also like the thinly sliced beef tongue from yakiniku restaurants, but the thick cuts here are the true charm of Sendai beef tongue. I wish they included after-dinner coffee at this price, but since there are many cafes in Tenjin, it's okay. I will visit again. Thank you for the meal.

Had lunch at "Charcoal-grilled Gyutan Toyama" on the 6th floor of Fukuoka Daimaru's Elgala. The Toyama lunch set for ¥1749 (tax included) includes gyutan, tongue stew, gyutan soup, salad, and barley rice. They served cold tea instead of cold water, which was a nice touch. The table seats were solidly partitioned, making the seating area slightly cramped, but it was okay. The gyutan was delicious as expected. The tongue stew was tasty but a bit too sweet. Overall, it's a satisfying restaurant.

I visited because I was craving beef tongue. Even though I shifted my lunch time, there was a wait. Luckily, I was able to get a table in about 10 minutes. I had a beef tongue tasting right after the new year, and I was impressed by the savory flavor of the charcoal-grilled dish. Normally, Daimaru card holders receive 500 points in their birth month, but due to the impact of the coronavirus, the points machine has been removed. Instead, I received a notice through this DM that I could receive a dessert service for the first time. Since it's a special occasion, let's get it. As always, the restaurant exudes a bit of luxury and mainly has table seating. I ordered the simmered beef tongue curry and grilled beef tongue set from the lunch menu (1390 yen excluding tax). The curry comes with a vegetable salad and beef tail soup. Just like last time, the beef tail had chunks of meat in it. The curry roux was average, probably made from an original retort package. The grilled beef tongue, as expected from the restaurant's specialty, was flavorful. The accompanying pickled Chinese cabbage and miso were also delicious, making the meal satisfying enough without rice. The dessert seemed to normally serve three people, but I requested a single serving. Even so, it was generously topped with fruits. The cream puff, strawberry roll cake, and other sweets were decently tasty.

I dined alone but sat at a table for four. The lunch set menu offers several options, priced around 1500 yen. I decided to go for the beef tongue special selection "Higashiyama Course" (4580 yen excluding tax) and ordered a beer. The first dish served was beef tongue shabu salad, with thinly sliced beef tongue quickly seared and topped on fresh vegetables. The hot pot soup came next, with a simple and clear taste. The ingredients included thick slices of boiled beef tongue, served with a side dish, yuzu pepper, and wasabi. The beef tongue was tender and melted in the mouth. The salted koji aged meat and colorful vegetable salad were delicious and refreshing with grated daikon. The meal continued with rice, tail soup, grated yam, pickled beef tongue, and main dishes of special and select beef tongue. Two types of pickles and grated daikon were also served. Comparing the two types of beef tongue, each had its own unique flavor and were delicious. Overall, it was a satisfying course where I left feeling full and content.

I visited this restaurant for the first time since it moved to Daimaru. As expected from a long-standing beef tongue restaurant, the taste was consistently delicious. The Daimaru branch had a calm atmosphere, allowing me to enjoy my meal slowly. If possible, I would have liked a refill of tea.

After a while, more customers started coming in, and I felt relieved. The "Anshin Gyutan Sannmai Teishoku" (Assurance Beef Tongue Feast Set) was delicious.
