After Tavernetta da Kitayama, I decided to have a few more drinks and headed towards Shinsaibashi. I ended up at this wine bar on the second floor of a building. Upon opening the door, I found a surprisingly spacious and dimly lit space, typical of a bar atmosphere. They specialize in Burgundy wines, so I started with a Burgundy Blanc. It was from a producer in Meursault and had a nice oaky flavor, very delicious. As a snack, they served truffle salami and olives, which was a nice touch instead of a cover charge. The bar has about 8 seats at the counter, and all the staff are young men in their 20s to 30s, which is quite unusual for this type of establishment. Interestingly, all the customers inside were also men, so despite the great ambiance, it turned out to be a wine bar full of men. I then tried a Nuits-Saint-Georges, which was also good, but personally, I prefer Vosne-Romanée in Burgundy. Seems like everyone else feels the same way. I had two glasses and the total came to 4700 yen, which seemed reasonable. They offer a range of wines from affordable to high-end, making it easy to find something you like. The atmosphere was nice and the prices were reasonable, so it's a convenient place to visit. However, there were two reasons why I didn't stay longer after just two glasses. Firstly, the staff were quite attentive and kept engaging in conversation. While this might be appreciated by some, I prefer to be left alone. The guy sitting next to me seemed to enjoy chatting with the staff, so it's probably just a personal preference. Secondly, and most importantly for me, smoking was allowed. I couldn't understand why a wine bar, especially one that focuses on Burgundy wines, would allow smoking. I could tolerate it if it was cigars, but having someone smoke next to me was unbearable. So, while this place may not have been to my liking, it's still a decent spot if you can overlook the above points. If those things don't bother you, then it's a good place for a drink or two in Minami.
