A visually appealing fruit daifuku that looks perfect for Instagram. It had a white bean paste that didn't overpower the fruit's flavor, wrapped in a chewy skin. It cuts neatly in half with octopus thread, but depending on the fruit, you need to consider the direction of the fibers to cut cleanly (like with pineapple).

There was a new traditional Japanese confectionery shop called "Kakuozan Fruits Daifuku Bensaiten" that opened on the basement 2nd floor of Iwataya. They had a display of various daifuku lined up, with tags turned over for items that were sold out. I chose a peach daifuku as they had just started selling them. The unique feature of these daifuku is the thin thread attached to them. Although I managed to cut it neatly, the peach was overly ripe, so the cross-section didn't look very appealing. The sweetness was mild, and it was easy to eat, but at ¥780 (tax included), the cost performance is quite poor. It's not something you can buy for multiple people. It could be a nice gift though!

Long-awaited first visit❗️ Kakuozan Fruit Daifuku Benzaiten in front of the Chuo Ward Office. I had been curious about it since before it opened, but didn't have the chance to go. So, I decided to splurge on all 7 varieties. Although they were a bit pricey for their size, they were totally worth it❗️ The seasonal fruits wrapped in ultra-thin mochi were all juicy and fresh, with a perfect balance of sweetness when paired with the white bean paste. My top pick would be the gold kiwi. For a better presentation, I recommend cutting them with the thin string included. I think the red string would have been better.

My daughter bought it for me. It's a high-end daifuku that costs over 700 yen each! I will have a musk melon one. Oh, it's so fresh and juicy. I savor the taste of the musk melon while enjoying the soft outer layer of mochi. It's not like regular mochi, it has a unique texture. This delicate daifuku is thin and tears easily. Someone please bring me a souvenir like this once in a while, haha!
