My daughter returned from Tokyo, so we went on a family drive to Itoshima. She wanted to eat delicious fish, so we headed to this restaurant today. It is a shop directly managed by JF Itoshima, not very fancy but you can't go wrong with the fish here. It was past 12 o'clock, so we were prepared to wait in line, but surprisingly we were able to enter without waiting. In this restaurant, you settle the bill when entering, so you decide what to order by looking at the menu before entering the shop. I ordered the Itoshima seafood bowl with a mini tempura set, my wife ordered the squid bowl, and my daughter ordered the Itoshima local fish set, and we paid the bill. We prepared our own tea and waited for the bowls. After about 10 minutes, the bowls arrived. I poured the seafood bowl sauce on a plate and mixed wasabi to pour over the seafood. Although there were no fancy items like salmon or ikura that are not local, the taste was excellent. Since it is directly managed by JF (Fisheries Association), the freshness of the fish is guaranteed. Every slice of fish was very delicious. The miso soup had fish bones in it, bringing out the flavor of the fish and complementing the seafood bowl well. The tempura consisted of three types of vegetables and squid. We sprinkled some salt on the tempura, enhancing the flavor. The restaurant is located inside the JF direct sales store, so by this time, most of the fish was already sold out. By the way, the neighboring Green Picnic is a building built by our company. Itoshima seafood bowl with a mini tempura set was 1680 yen. Thank you for the meal.

In June, it seems like there is a seasonal limited-time menu featuring sea bream at this restaurant. I ordered that dish. The extra rice portion is free, which is great. The sea bream is prepared in various ways and beautifully presented. I am so full now. Thank you for the delicious meal.

This was my first visit. The seafood set meal at this restaurant in Itoshima was very fresh and delicious! The miso soup with fish head in it had a deep flavor that was amazing. The set meal I had seemed to be limited in quantity, as I was told it was the last one when someone else tried to order it. I recommend going early!

After a long time, I visited "Shima no Kaisendon-ya" in Itoshima City. I wanted to buy fresh fish, so I visited "Shima no Shiki" at the opening time of 8:30, and this restaurant, which is supposed to open for lunch, was offering a "morning meal"! They served leftover fish cuts as sashimi. It included at least five types of fish such as horse mackerel, sea bream, flatfish, octopus, and salmon, with most of them having a crunchy texture, which was impressive. But the highlight of this meal was something else. They provided a small plate with grated wasabi and simmered kogori, which you could put in the bowl and eat it like ochazuke. There was a pot of hot dashi prepared, and when you lifted the lid, a nice aroma of sea bream fat filled the air. When you tasted it, you could feel the umami of kelp the most, and you could also taste the dashi of other fish. Mmm, delicious! There was also tenkasu as an accent, but honestly, it was unnecessary. The dashi itself was seasoned well, but it would have been fine with just the umami of the dashi. It was a very well-made dish for the price of one coin, but what surprised me was that it was "sold out" before 9:00! The staff were too inefficient for a dish that was only one type and served in about 10 portions, and if there were customers who came looking forward to this, they might express dissatisfaction with the quick sell-out.

Before climbing Mt. Koyama, we stopped by for breakfast. We were surprised to see a line of about 50 people before the store opened, but they were all there for the fresh fish, so we were the only ones there for breakfast. The rumors were true - it was the best breakfast for the price. It was unbelievable for 500 yen. The dashi ochazuke was the highlight. Definitely recommended.

Today, I had some business in Itoshima, so I decided to try out a popular seafood bowl since I was there. I visited two famous restaurants, but both had long lines. I quickly gave up, knowing that popular places like these would be crowded. However, I still wanted to eat seafood, so I searched for other options. I unexpectedly found a restaurant called "Shima no Kaisendon-ya" inside the Itoshima Aeon Mall, which is a seafood and vegetable market. There were only two families waiting in line, much better than the famous restaurants I had visited earlier. I was able to get a table in about 10 minutes. You have to order at the register and pay upfront. I decided to try the most recommended dish, the "Itoshima Local Fish Set" for 1,680 yen, while my wife ordered the "Seafood Tempura Bowl" for 1,320 yen. The food arrived in about 5 minutes. The local fish set included sashimi, fish stew, marinated fish, and tempura. The staff mentioned that if we leave a little bit of the marinated fish and rice, they would bring us some soup so we could enjoy ochazuke. My wife's tempura bowl was filled with various types of fish tempura, living up to its name. We thoroughly enjoyed the ochazuke at the end, and it was a satisfying lunch. We discovered a hidden gem of a restaurant.

Itojima City Shima Tsuwazaki and Itojima Fishing Cooperative operate a direct sales store called "Shima no Shiki" which also has a dining area. It is a specialty store for "seafood bowls" made with local fish caught from five old fishing ports in Shima Town. The manager of the store, Takashi Umabuchi from Itojima, started the business in September 2011 in collaboration with the fishing cooperative and the tourism association. They are committed to "local production for local consumption" and only use local fish. They do not use ikura or salmon. The fish used varies daily depending on the day's catch. The rice and soy sauce used are also locally produced in Itojima. The store is known for its ultimate focus on local production for local consumption. The operating hours are from 11:00 to 14:00, but due to its popularity, they often sell out early. Since its opening, it has remained popular and has become one of the tourist spots in Itojima City. It is a high-quality, low-cost store that maintains its popularity without getting conceited. I visited with three others for lunch during an "Itojima drive". I ordered the "Seafood Bowl - Large" for 980 yen (excluding tax). The seafood bowl included locally produced fish such as Aji from Hinoshima, Buri from Kaya, Hiramasu from Himejima, Madai from Funakoshi, Madako from Gishi, and Nori from Himejima. It is an all-local seafood bowl, the ultimate Itojima seafood bowl. We also shared the "Ara-nuki" (fish head soup) for 200 yen and the "Tsuke" (pickled fish) for 200 yen. As always, the food was fresh and delicious. The cost performance is unbelievable! "Expensive and delicious" is normal. "Delicious and cheap" is here!

On weekends, there is always a line for the seafood bowl! But on weekdays, it's not crowded ^_^ When I visited, there was a decent line. The fresh fish is delicious, and waiting in line is also enjoyable! You can enjoy a delicious seafood bowl at a reasonable price! The miso soup is also delicious! Thank you for the meal ^ - ^

Only visiting once may be influenced by coincidence or preconception. In reality, you won't know the truth until you go a few times. I revisited this place and confirmed that it is indeed a wonderful recommended gourmet spot. There is no need to go all the way to Hirado Shunsenkan anymore. The Itojima Taizukushi set for 2200 yen was a bit pricey, but based on my trust from the previous visit, I didn't think about the price when ordering. I only realized the price after returning. However, in terms of content, it included tai sashimi, Ryukyu (tea rice), kashira simmered dish, tempura, and it was truly a feast for 2200 yen, which is quite reasonable. Especially, the broth of the tea rice was different from the usual tempura dipping sauce (which is also very delicious), it was a clear and likely made from only tai fish bones, showing a dedication to quality. The freshly dropped tai fish was transparent and had a chewy and bouncy texture. I ordered a large tempura bowl for 1380 yen, and the local Ito no Kuni mountain and sea delicacies tempura bowl is also irresistible. The tai tempura overlapped a bit, but the chewy squid, tasty sakura shrimp with shells, and Itojima vegetables tempura were perfectly coated in the sauce. The tempura batter seemed to be made with puffed rice flour, resulting in a crispy finish. It also came with Itojima salt, Itojima sudachi, and tempura sauce made from fish broth. Even though the tempura was already coated in sauce, these condiments for flavor variation were also hard to resist. Last time, I had the fish soup with fish bones, but this time it was the default clear soup (plain without ingredients), which was also rich in flavor, like a fish fumet. The pickled dish for 200 yen was added as a side dish this time. This side dish had simmered dish for 200 yen, tempura for 600 yen, etc. The pickled dish had enough to make a mini seafood bowl, and 200 yen was too cheap. Next time, this side dish and rice combination might be a good choice. The Shima Shiki at the fish market didn't have an impressive selection today, but this could be a fateful encounter. You won't be disappointed at a Shima seafood bowl restaurant.

I visited a seafood bowl restaurant attached to a market run by a fishing cooperative in Itoshima for sightseeing. I thought this was a sure bet, so I chose it from among the many shops in Itoshima. I arrived right at the opening time of 11:00 on a weekday. Luckily, I got in, but five minutes later, it was full. The striped seafood bowl (large) costs 1180 yen, and the fish head soup costs 200 yen. They stick to natural fish, so the ingredients change daily. It arrived in about 5 minutes, and with one bite, I could tell the flesh was firm, a sign of freshness. The soy sauce was also deliciously sweet. I actually prefer white fish over red meat. For 1180 yen with toppings like sea bream, Japanese barracuda (lightly grilled), mackerel (lightly grilled), and squid, it's a great deal. Most of the customers were locals, which I like. Local people's favorite restaurants are the best. Tourist-oriented restaurants are expensive, and if they're expensive, the food is expected to be good. It was a good restaurant. I didn't take a photo, but the mixed tempura for 380 yen that I shared was surprisingly delicious, especially the vegetables. As expected from Fukuoka, even the vegetables are delicious.

I wanted to eat seafood bowl in Itoshima, so I lined up before the store opened! I was able to get in relatively quickly and the appearance was not flashy, but I could eat fresh local fish of the day! When I ordered the seafood bowl size large, it came with a miso soup set! It was very delicious! The Itoshima-grown nozawana was also great.

In a corner of a local shopping mall, there is a seafood bowl corner run by JF Itoshima. It is a somewhat old-fashioned roadside mall, but the seafood corner is surprisingly good. I arrived on a Sunday at around 12 o'clock with three groups ahead of me. The JF Itoshima Shima no Shiki as a fish corner is excellent. The tempura set with unlimited salted squid and a change to miso soup is a hidden gem in Fukuoka, but the seafood bowl is not available. The shrimp tempura is made with small shrimp, about the size of a pinky finger, fried whole. They are crunchy and flavorful, much better than the artificially plump shrimp with preservatives. The local squid and fish are delicious, as well as the local vegetables. The attitude of using fresh ingredients of the day to create a dish is admirable. The tempura is crispy and the dipping sauce is not too sweet, with additional tempura sauce and lemon provided. The seafood bowl is visually simple but delicious, made with local ingredients. The miso soup with fish scraps is rich and flavorful. I used to think Itoshima was a wealthy resort area, but I have a new appreciation for its culinary offerings.

It's rare for me, but this is a post not related to bread. I want to introduce a delicious meal I had. On 4/23 (Sat), I went on a day trip to Itoshima with 9 colleagues from work. We picked up a friend at Imajuku Station (by rental car), visited Yashinoki Swing, Ji Hanggun, Sakurai Futami Beach, Shima no Shiki, Akuya no Daimon, Itoshima Agricultural Park Farm Park, Sanwa Coffee, and then dispersed at Imajuku Station. It was a very fulfilling day. This restaurant was for lunch at Shima no Shiki. It's a small shop in a corner of the store, so I honestly thought, "Is it really here?" However, we were served a very high-quality seafood bowl. You can choose between a small or large size, and I chose the small one which was a decent portion. It came with pickles and miso soup, all for only 880 yen (my colleagues also ordered seafood bowls). The seating capacity is not large, but the turnover rate is high, and we were seated within 5 minutes after writing our names on the waiting list. The bowl arrived in 5 minutes. There were plenty of fresh sashimi, probably sea bream. You're supposed to dissolve the wasabi on top with the soy sauce provided on the table, but I mistakenly ate the wasabi directly with soy sauce (silly me). The miso soup was flavorful and delicious. It's amazing that they can provide this quality with such a high turnover rate. I later saw their high ratings on Tabelog and understood why. Itoshima City has many restaurants offering fresh seafood, but I highly recommend trying the seafood bowl at this hidden gem.

I had been interested in trying the "Seafood Tempura Bowl" for a while, so today I decided to have lunch here after a long time. I used to enjoy the seafood bowls here and even rated them over 4 stars, but unfortunately, the tempura bowl was a bit disappointing. The batter was not crispy enough, and the seafood toppings were just okay. I don't think I will order it again if the quality remains like this. The miso soup was delicious as always, so I'm giving some extra points for that, but overall, it was a meal with low satisfaction level. Disappointing!! [Ordered Items] *Prices include tax - Itoshima Seafood Tempura Bowl (Regular Size) 1,100 yen [Today's Seafood] - Marbled Rockfish or Japanese Sea Bass - Coldwater Bluefish or Spanish Mackerel - Squid Legs... were listed, but my bowl didn't have any squid legs (there were squid bodies though) - 5 types of Itoshima vegetables

When I feel like eating fish, I head over to "Shima no Kiseki" located within the premises of Aeon Shima. Inside the store, there is a seafood bowl restaurant called "Shima no Kaisendon-ya." The "Itoshima Kaisendon" comes in small for 880 yen, and large for 1,180 yen. The "Itoshima Kaisen Tendon" is priced at 1,100 yen for regular and 1,380 yen for large. They also offer tempura bowls, but I always end up ordering the seafood bowl every time I visit. This time, I went for the seafood bowl again, and of course, I got the large size. The lineup included seared Spanish mackerel, amberjack, sea bass, flathead, and yellowtail kingfish, all from Itoshima. I couldn't resist adding the marinated fish for an extra 200 yen. The food was served promptly, and I dug in. The balance between sashimi and rice was off (laughs), but the variety of fish from Itoshima was impressive. I express my gratitude to the fishermen. The marinated fish on a separate plate was irresistibly delicious. Just that alone could make me eat three bowls of rice! (laughs) The sashimi alone could fill me up... too luxurious. The miso soup was also exceptionally tasty. I wish I could savor it slowly, but I had to finish quickly. In the end, I mixed everything together. My stomach was full. Thank you for the meal. I always feel satisfied with the seafood bowl, but this time it seemed even better. It tastes especially delicious in winter. I realized that I always come on Mondays... and it was a Monday again this time. Monday seafood bowl. Maybe I'll make it my routine.

Today, I took a day off in exchange for working on a holiday and went on a drive to Itoshima. I stopped by a seafood bowl restaurant in Shima for lunch. The restaurant is located in one corner of Shima's four seasons. The fish inside the restaurant sells out quickly, and the seafood bowl restaurant was also full. I hesitantly asked if they still had availability, and luckily they did. I ordered the large seafood bowl and the limited edition tuna tataki bowl. The large seafood bowl comes with a miso soup with fish head. After a 15-minute wait, the seafood bowl was delicious. It had about 5 types of sashimi, including sea bream and rare swordfish. The tuna tataki bowl was also delicious. The price was reasonable for a seafood bowl, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I was planning to have a seafood bowl for lunch, but when I arrived, there were 6-7 groups waiting ahead of me. While waiting, I looked at the menu and suddenly felt like having a seafood tempura bowl instead. The turnover was fast. I realized the staff, about 8 of them, were working efficiently. Once seated, I prepared my own tea and my seafood bowl was ready in no time. It seemed like the tempura took a bit longer to be served. But, it arrived within 5 minutes. I took a bite and it was delicious! The tempura was plentiful and each piece was tasty. I was full and satisfied. Thank you for the meal. Even after finishing, there were still 6-7 groups waiting. This place is really popular.

Having lunch at a seafood bowl restaurant in Shima, which is part of the four seasons of Shima. I had the Itoshima seafood bowl (medium size) and the local fish stew. They are particular about using locally sourced fish, so the toppings vary daily. On this day, it included seared red snapper, flounder, octopus, and about 5 other types of toppings. The fresh fish was delicious. The fish stew was flavorful and only cost 200 yen, which I thought was very affordable. The stew was also very comforting. Thank you for the meal!

Fish is often said to be best eaten after being aged for 2-3 days. I do not intend to deny that, as it does indeed become more delicious. However, I also enjoy fresh sashimi with a firm texture right after it's caught. This restaurant offers such fresh seafood bowls. I ordered the large seafood bowl. The sashimi was fresh and crunchy, not aged at all! Delicious! I was happy! The pickles were sold out due to being made later, and I passed on the mixed rice. I saw similar dishes at other tables, and they had an outrageous amount. Additionally, miso soup comes with the bowl, and it had a strong fish flavor! It's impressive that they can offer this quality at this price. The fish in the store next door was also selling out quickly. It seems to be popular with locals. This is definitely a restaurant I want to visit again.

I used to post every time I went, but I still occasionally visit this favorite seafood bowl restaurant. <What I ordered> - Itoshima Seafood Bowl (small) 650 yen/tax included 715 yen <Today's toppings> - Fresh yellowtail - Firm-textured sea bass or grouper or red sea bream - Seared locally caught premium horse mackerel - Lean tuna or amberjack or belt fish - Premium texture belt fish or octopus or bigfin reef squid I was happy that all the toppings I wanted to eat (seared locally caught premium horse mackerel, belt fish, octopus) were included beautifully. Even in the small size, the content was satisfying enough.

I have been to the Michi no Eki in Itoshima for shopping but I had never eaten there before. I was craving fish, so I searched and found this place. There were quite a few customers, but I enjoyed looking at the local products while waiting, so the time passed quickly. I ordered the Itoshima seafood bowl (large). I thought it might be too much, but for me it was a normal size (laughs). The bowl was filled with plenty of fish. The menu options are limited, but the bowl made with local fish was delicious. The miso soup also had a rich flavor, and I was very satisfied. I would definitely like to go there again.
