The first floor was a curry and coffee shop, while the second floor was a guesthouse for foreign travelers. The warmth of the antique wooden materials and the dim lighting created a cozy atmosphere. It had a non-pretentious artistic vibe. There was a large poster of John Lennon, which got me and my cousin, who are Beatles fans, excited. We placed our order and paid upfront, then carried our drinks to our seats. It was nice that all drinks came in two sizes, S and M. I ordered an iced cafe latte in size S for 500 yen, while my cousin got a cappuccino in size S for 500 yen. I visited the townhouse cafe "Akutagawa Coffee" in Osaka Shin-Fukushima. It is located in a nostalgic atmosphere just off the alley from JR Tozai Line Shin-Fukushima Station. The cafe is a renovated old folk house that used to be a sake brewery and a former Japanese restaurant during the Meiji era. Currently, it also has a hostel attached. Coffee Blossom Tea 500 yen Coffee blossom tea made from flowers that bloom on coffee trees from the coffee plantation "Miyade Coffee Garden" in Tokunoshima, Amami Islands. It has a jasmine tea-like aroma and flavor, smooth and aromatic like coffee. There is a slight sweetness like honey or vanilla. The spacious interior has furniture made of wood, creating a Japanese modern space. They also serve spice curry.

On June 25, 2022, after eating ramen, I stopped by a cafe to take shelter from the rain. I had cheesecake with rock salt and blueberry sauce, which added a unique twist to the flavor. I also had syrup juice with ginger slices, which gave a refreshing kick to the taste. I left after about 30 minutes, and by then the rain had stopped, making it easy for me to head back home. The cafe was conveniently located near the station and had a cozy, hidden gem vibe in the back alley.

A cafe in Fukushima. My friend had already had lunch, so we decided to go to a place where we could have tea and maybe some light snacks. The interior had a warm, retro feel with wooden accents. The curry they served was a unique spice curry called "Continental Curry." It came with three different flavors in one dish: "Tomato Chicken Butter," "Bonito Flakes and Chickpea Sri Lankan Curry," and "Spicy Keema." Each bite offered a different taste with a variety of side dishes. Personally, I enjoyed the creamy yet refreshing Tomato Chicken Butter the most. The spicy and rich flavor of the Keema was also delicious. The presentation and taste were both very satisfying. Thank you for the meal.

Located a little off the beaten path from Shin-Fukushima, Akutagawa Coffee offers authentic spice curry. I visited during a period when I was obsessed with spice curry! I forgot to take a photo... The antique interior creates a quiet atmosphere, perfect for relaxing and inadvertently staying longer. The tea cups in the third photo can be purchased and all have incredibly cute designs, making them great for gifts! I tried their famous cheesecake for dessert, and it was absolutely delicious. I really want to know the recipe. It pairs well with the blueberry sauce and goes perfectly with coffee. ^_^

"Akutagawa Coffee". Located right behind Tenjin-san in Fukushima. Since I came all the way to Fukushima and lunch was hectic, I decided to take a coffee break. Usually, I go for hot coffee during a coffee break, but the lady recommended the Akutagawa blend for hot coffee, and a deep roast for iced coffee. The temperature outside is 38°C (estimated)... well, I'll try the iced coffee today. And it was a hit! The iced coffee here is really delicious, not just watery like most iced coffees. It's the real deal! Occasionally, when you hit upon something really delicious, it's even more exciting than with hot coffee. Akutagawa Coffee is located in the same place as Spice Curry Tairiku. The second floor is a guesthouse. I can only imagine how delicious the curry from Tairiku and this iced coffee must be! They also had Basque cheesecake and Gâteau au Chocolat, my favorite desserts, tempting me. Why does this place have everything I love? What's the catch? I love it. The curry was overall spicy and leaning towards tropical flavors. It had cilantro in it, giving it a unique taste that you might get hooked on after trying. It had a strong kick to it and was really good.

After lunch, I had tea. I really think there are few cafes in Fukushima. Today, I found a relaxing place to sit down. As I entered, I could smell the delicious curry. Their curry is also popular here. I ordered a cafe latte and a cappuccino at the counter. Both in medium size for 600 yen each. The cups were made of paper for some reason, even though others had ceramic cups. I spent about two hours leisurely enjoying my tea.

I finished my business in Nishi-Umeda and decided to walk a bit to Fukushima, where I remembered there was a cafe I wanted to visit. After wandering a bit, I found the cafe in a small alley. It was a guesthouse upstairs and the cafe downstairs. I ordered a cheesecake and a hot chai (medium size) at the counter and waited at a small table by the corner. The cheesecake was served with a sprinkle of coarse salt, which complemented its rich flavor well. The hot chai was a bit too much for me, but it was delicious. The quiet and peaceful atmosphere allowed me to relax and enjoy my treats. It was a pleasant experience overall.

Located right behind the Tenjin-san in Fukushima, "Spice Curry Continent" has been gaining popularity recently and operates in the same premises as the guesthouse on the second floor. The interior of the restaurant, which seems to aim for a nostalgic atmosphere, features indirect lighting designed by professionals, creating a cozy ambiance with a generous number of seats arranged without feeling cramped, indicating that the number of customers may be limited. I ordered the recommended Akutagawa Blend in size M. The ample M-sized coffee, the wooden wall adorned with antique dishes from America and Asia, all contribute to a warm and inviting space where everyone can relax. It may be a digression, but these back alleys in Fukushima, capturing the essence of the Showa era, are truly wonderful. The atmosphere of the barber shop with ivy-covered walls opposite adds to the charm. Even as the Heisei era ends and a new era begins, I hope these small new spots in the back alleys will remain.

I have some time until my evening plans, so I decided to go to a café where I can do things that I can't do at home. It's a common choice for many people. However, during the end of the year, all the cafes are usually full. As a last hope, I decided to try this café and luckily found almost empty seats. I entered the café, placed my order, and then sat down. It was quiet and peaceful, just perfect. I received my coffee, but unfortunately, it wasn't to my liking. However, it didn't bother me because I came here to buy some time for myself. The café also operates as a curry restaurant in the evening, so there was a wonderful aroma of spices in the air. I had a great time, but now I also feel like trying their curry.

A coffee shop that also doubles as a youth hostel, offering a relaxed atmosphere. They serve curry early in the day too! Of course, they have Wi-Fi! There is a global vibe with foreign customers as well. The café latte was delicious with plenty of milk. The staff were extremely kind, going above and beyond to help a person who couldn't find a place to stay for the night. They even called around to check for vacancies. So kind and impressive.

I visited in the evening and at night as a second round. Ordered a latte in the evening and hot chai at night. Both were delicious. The latte had a strong coffee flavor, aroma, and richness, with the perfect creaminess and sweetness of milk. I wondered why the coffee brewed by people here is so delicious. The chai also had a gentle amount of spices. It was delicious. A little sad thing was that the small size came in a normal warm ceramic cup, while the medium size came in a paper cup, which was too sad. Maybe they didn't have the right size mug to hold the amount? But still, the paper cup was too sad, so the rating is lower. When you enter the store, you first order and pay at the counter. Once ready, the staff will bring it to your table. The restroom was also clean. ★ No photo because it was in a paper cup.

The iced cafe latte was delicious, although the Basque cheesecake was sold out. The gâteau au chocolat was also delicious. The spiced curry is apparently famous. They have night café on Mondays and Saturdays, and it is a place where both large groups and individuals can relax.

It's hot outside, but if you want to relax in a cafe, a hot drink is better. Even though it's a coffee shop, the chai is also delicious. It's a strong chai, but easy to drink without any strong aftertaste.
