When thinking about eating them later, I want to avoid things I don't like, or rather, I don't have many food preferences so that's not a big issue, but the quantity is... There is a terrifying curse called "Tonnyo" in the world, and if you receive this curse, you will suffer from various physical ailments, blindness, necrosis of the feet, and even lose your life. As someone who enjoys putting curses on others as a hobby, it would be very inconvenient for me to receive such a terrifying curse, so I must avoid it. However, in reality, I am often warned by a person in white clothes to "be careful of Tonnyo", which is scary. Therefore, I bought a pack of 3 pieces of Tsukushi mochi, which can last for about 2 weeks, but I was happy to hear that it lasts unopened, as the expiration date is the next day after opening. The contents are mochi covered in yellow powder, topped with black honey. There is a similar snack called "Kikyo Shingen Mochi", but according to those who have tried both, the texture of Tsukushi mochi is softer and more gentle. In Kurume, I visited Yume Town to find Tsukushi Mochi at Josui-an. Yesterday, I tried Yamanashi's Shingen Mochi and it reminded me of Tsukushi Mochi. I decided to compare the two to see which one tastes better, is bigger, and is priced better. Tsukushi Mochi costs 95 yen for 35g, with a normal amount of yellow powder and black honey. It's easy to eat and the price is reasonable for its size. Shingen Mochi costs 150 yen for 45g, with an abundance of yellow powder and plenty of black honey. It's a bit messy to eat and slightly more expensive. The taste is equally good for both, they are both delicious. When I asked the staff if they knew about Shingen Mochi, they said it's famous but they haven't tried it. When I asked for recommendations, they suggested Tomato Daifuku for 180 yen and Yuzu Daifuku for 120 yen. The Tomato Daifuku has a mini tomato inside with a strong tomato flavor, not sour but lacking the luxurious feel of Strawberry Daifuku. The Yuzu Daifuku has yuzu mixed into the white bean paste, giving it a nice fragrance. There are many other delicious snacks available, but with my current diabetes, I can't indulge in snacks freely.

My recommendation is definitely the Chikushi mochi! The harmony of the mochi, kinako (soybean flour), and black syrup is just wonderful. It's exciting to cut open the syrup packet and pour it over the kinako before eating. Sometimes the syrup spills when you open the packet, but that just adds to the fun. Chikushi mochi is popular among people of all ages, from young children to the elderly. When I give it as a souvenir to people from outside the prefecture, they are always delighted. Recently, I discovered a small confection called "Hakata Totto" and bought it. It was also delicious!

I stopped by during work to buy a gift. I bought a Hakata Totto box for 2,100 yen (with about 20 pieces inside). I also tried one that was in a New Year's lucky bag, and it's perfect for giving to a large group. It's not too sweet and goes well with tea or coffee. Happy New Year, everyone. I hope we have a great year together. One of the New Year's treats is the lucky bags at Yume Town! Since I lived in Nagasaki, my go-to souvenir has been the lucky bags from Nyosui-an (2,000 yen). It used to be easy to buy them 4-5 years ago, but now it's really popular. Today, it was so crowded just 5 minutes after opening with about 100 people in line. Even though there are no reviews, it's become so popular! It might be hard to get them in the future. They sold out quickly because they're limited (only 200 available). You get about 4,000 yen worth of items for 2,000 yen! And the long expiration date is great. It's perfect for splitting up and giving as souvenirs. This year, I bought them for my family (mostly for myself?). Beware of the New Year's rush!
