I had a 20-minute gap in Fukuoka, so I visited Takenoya in the bus terminal building next to the station and tried the Guruguru Chicken Skin, a Fukuoka B-class gourmet dish. The chicken skin here is crispy and lightly seasoned, allowing the flavor of the chicken skin to come through. It costs around 150 yen per piece.

It had been a while since my last visit, and I felt like the menu had shrunk. The menu had changed regularly in the past, but today it seemed limited. I tried the bone-in chicken karage for the first time! I was glad to see the local chicken charcoal-grilled dish back on the menu, as it had been missing recently. However, I was a bit disappointed by the color and taste of the horse sashimi. It seems like I might be getting a bit bored with the menu variety... I would be happy if there were a few more options like sashimi. That's how I felt.

When traveling by bus to various places in Kyushu (and beyond), it is a must to stop by Hakata Bus Terminal in Hakata. While trains are good too, buses are very convenient in Kyushu. Before boarding the highway bus, I quickly grab dinner at Takenoya in the restaurant area on the 8th floor of Hakata Station's bus terminal building. Of course, it has to be yakitori! The crispy grilled skewers have the best texture, don't they? Alcohol goes well with them too. I also ordered motsunabe, which was a huge portion. Even though it may look like a single serving in the photo, with the cabbage added, it was very satisfying. It was delicious! The total cost was 1,419 yen for the motsunabe, 385 yen for the otoshi, and 319 yen for the highball. To get to the highway bus stop, take the escalator down to the 3rd floor. I was able to board the bus quickly and smoothly. Thank you for the meal!

On a Saturday afternoon, I met up with old friends for the first time in a while. We went to a corner of the 8th floor food court at Hakata Station Bus Terminal, and even here, the daytime drinking spots were all bustling with customers. The impact of the coronavirus seems to be non-existent at this point. We ordered the usual grilled chicken skin, burdock salad, yam on a hot plate, chijimi, rolled omelette, pork belly, lotus root with mentaiko, cheese sticks, assorted skewers, and grilled chicken feet, etc... The staff were mostly foreigners, but their Japanese was almost perfect! They served us quickly and we were grateful for that. Before we knew it, the bill for drinks had added up quite a bit, but oh well, it was a fun time so let's just enjoy it. Thank you for the meal.

After shopping in the Hakata area with my wife, we decided to take a break before dinner. We were looking for a place to have a quick drink during happy hour, and ended up choosing "Takenoya" at Hakata Bus Terminal. Despite the bustling atmosphere with both local and international customers, we managed to find a table. The "Takenoya" group offers a "Super Happy Hour" from 11:00 to 18:00, with drinks like highball for 290 yen, shochu for 190 yen, lemon sour for 290 yen, and draft beer for 390 yen. I was tempted by the low price of shochu (potato on the rocks) at 190 yen, so I ordered that along with some light snacks like rolled omelet, chicken skin with chicken miso, and grilled shishamo. The rolled omelet was served first and was of good quality with a nice creamy texture. The grilled dishes arrived slightly later, with the chicken skin being a Fukuoka specialty cooked to perfection, and surprisingly, the chicken miso grill was the most delicious. The chicken meat soaked in miso sauce paired perfectly with the shochu. Overall, it was a great experience and I will definitely be returning for more. Despite its slightly inconvenient location on the 8th floor of Hakata Bus Terminal, it's a great spot for a casual drink. Thank you for the delicious meal.

I had about 2 hours of free time near Hakata Station and felt a bit hungry, so I decided to look for Hakata's famous chicken skin dish. I ended up here after searching around. It's located on the 8th floor of the building that houses the bus terminal, so taking the elevator is quicker. When I arrived, I saw the words "Happy Hour" displayed...!!! They had highballs, draft beer, lemon sours, all within the Happy Hour prices. Even after ordering 20 pieces of chicken skin, I was able to have a meaningful time for about 1.5 hours with just around ¥3000 spent.

You can enjoy Hakata and Miyazaki cuisine such as Chicken Nanban and grilled local chicken. Unfortunately, we couldn't try dishes like sesame mackerel or motsunabe due to time constraints. Happy hour is until 6pm. We ordered 20 pieces of chicken skin for 4 people and easily finished them. The streets of Hakata were lively with foreigners. It was delicious. D Works uniforms.

This time, I tried motsunabe for the first time! I chose the soy sauce flavor, and it was surprisingly light and very delicious! The portion size for one person was quite generous, with plenty of cabbage and motsu. The only downside was that there was no tofu, so I would definitely ask for tofu next time. Additionally, the addition of mentaiko galette to the regular menu was great, and the German potato fries were also delicious. I wonder when they will have grilled chicken thighs again... Could it be due to avian flu?

In the morning of today, I was in the mood for tonkatsu, but as I pondered where to have it, I suddenly felt like having yakitori-don after a long time. I spent the morning deciding where to eat and what to eat, and ultimately decided to have yakitori-don. I found a place called "Takenoya" at Hakata Station Bus Terminal that serves yakitori-don for lunch. Despite being a yakitori restaurant, they offer a "yakitori-don set meal" with pork belly, chicken liver, two chicken thighs, simmered egg, and rolled omelette. Unfortunately, the yakitori was not as juicy as I had hoped, and the simmered egg was too salty. The sauce was also too strong for my taste. However, the "sesame mackerel" that I added to my meal was a great choice. Its beautiful appearance, firm texture, and flavorful sauce made up for the disappointment of the yakitori-don.

I always visit this restaurant alone, and when I see the seared chashu on the menu, it looks like too much for one person to eat. This time, I visited with my family and we ordered it for the first time. It had a light taste, probably cooked at a low temperature. The sauce on top seemed to be spicy chili oil. We also ordered sweet potato tempura for the first time, and it had a comforting taste just as I imagined. We were able to relax and enjoy our time again this time. I think next time I want to try the motsunabe hot pot alone.

In the fall of 2022, around 1pm on a Saturday, the two of us wanted to eat motsunabe before catching the bus. We found this place that was open and easy to walk into. We ordered one serving of miso and one serving of soy sauce motsunabe. The portions were generous! We should have just chosen one flavor and ordered something else. The drinks seemed cheap too and I wanted to have some, but the bus ride was long so I decided against it. Thank you for the meal.

Thank you again for this time. Lately, there have been a lot of customers, and there are even reserved seats. This time, I tried the autumn limited menu, which is a spicy mentaiko lotus root and 3 kinds of mushroom cheese gratin. Seasonal limited items like this are great! No complaints! Once again, I enjoyed a great time with a highball in hand, enjoying the excellent cost performance!

During the COVID-19 pandemic, it felt safe to relax in the spacious store. I was able to stay until the train time, as always. The staff here are always kind and friendly, which makes the experience enjoyable. I enjoyed a highball slowly this time too!

The final night went by in a flash. I visited Takenoya to satisfy my craving for motsunabe (offal hot pot). Despite the damage from the day's activities, I enjoyed the motsunabe with soy sauce broth, filled with tender offal and plenty of vegetables. I also had some delicious squid marinated in oil as a side dish for my beer. I couldn't resist ordering some crispy chicken skin skewers, which paired perfectly with the sauce. To finish off the meal, I had some champon noodles. Everything was delicious until the very end. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

Today, I felt like having yakitori on my way home, so I visited this place. It seems like the restrictions have been lifted and people are starting to come back to the shops. Those who want to have a light drink can enjoy discounted prices for standing and drinking. Yakitori tastes different when eating in the restaurant compared to taking it home!

I traveled by bus and had lunch at "Takenoya," a yakitori restaurant in the "Hakata Taste Town" on the 8th floor of Hakata Bus Terminal. I ordered the "Yakitori Ju Special Set" for 869 yen. There were about six lunch menu options, but I chose what seemed to be the recommended dish. Unfortunately, I misread the time and ended up rushing through my meal without even taking photos. It was disrespectful to the food. I regret my rushed eating. In the end, I missed the bus as the door closed just before I could board. It was quite a chaotic experience. I hope to have a rematch at "Takenoya" and savor the food properly next time. I will strive to improve on my journey and end it without regrets.

Weekend dinner visit. After a light late lunch at Karo Uron, we stopped by Canal City Hakata and other places before deciding to have dinner around Hakata Station. We checked out the restaurants in the Hakata Taste Town on the 8th floor of the Hakata Bus Terminal building. We excluded non-local restaurants like ramen shops and Go Go Curry, and although we were interested in Okonomiyaki Fukiya Hakata, there was a long line, so we ended up going to the restaurant next door. We tried to enter at 8:00 PM and there was only one group waiting, but we were seated at the counter almost immediately. The menu featured local items such as chicken skewers, motsunabe, grilled ramen, horse sashimi, mentaiko tamagoyaki, as well as typical izakaya dishes, with a good variety and reasonable prices. We ordered the Hakata Guruguru chicken skewer set (5 pieces for 715 yen), diced octopus (649 yen), chicken tail (154 yen), cartilage (154 yen), raw chicken meatball (209 yen), grilled pork foot (429 yen), and grilled mackerel skewer (143 yen). We also switched from draft beer (medium for 429 yen) to highball (strong) for 495 yen. We were served a small dish and salted cabbage with dried seaweed as a complimentary appetizer. We didn't have high expectations for the food or service, but the chicken skewers, grilled pork foot, and grilled mackerel were delicious, and the service from the Southeast Asian female staff members was friendly. Since we had planned to go to another place for dessert, we left after an hour. It seems like a place where you can have a satisfying meal even if you take your time. Thank you for the meal.

It suddenly got really cold, right? You need to eat something warm to regain your energy (lol). Hot pot! Motsunabe! So, I ended up here (о´∀`о) It was crowded everywhere, but luckily I found this place. I ordered motsu first to warm up, and then ordered a variety of other dishes. My favorite was the tempura daikon in oden (*^^*) Tempura-ing daikon that has absorbed a lot of broth from oden must be quite a task. But it was piping hot and delicious (о´∀`о) Perfect menu for winter, isn't it? I was really satisfied (*´∇`*) I enjoyed the hot dishes and the friendly waiter. Thank you for the meal!

I went to Torikawa to eat after a long time at night! Even though I drink at home every day, I always end up losing my memory, haha. I don't remember last night either (-。-;). Three of us ate 20 skewers at Torikawa and when we asked for more, they said they were already out! I remember that much (^_^;). It was Sunday around 6 pm... Oh well... (T_T).
