I stopped by Mojiko to eat baked curry. It was my first time trying it, and it was delicious. The restaurant was also clean, so I recommend stopping by when you visit Mojiko. By the way, there are many baked curry restaurants around, so it's clear that baked curry is a popular food in Mojiko.

Dolce is a sweets and baked curry restaurant located in the Moji Port area of Kitakyushu City. I visited on a hot day and decided to have a lunch with spicy flavors. The menu includes curry dishes starting from 700 yen, cakes starting from 200 yen, and drinks starting from 450 yen. They also offer set menus, such as the Baked Curry & Cake Set for 1600 yen, which includes a regular size baked curry, a choice of cake, and a drink. The baked curry is served with a rich and tangy fruity gravy, topped with plenty of cheese, and baked until golden. It's so hot that it's hard to eat, but you have to eat it before the cheese hardens (burns are a must). For the cake, I went to the western sweets section and chose a Fruit Tart without hesitation, attracted by its high level of femininity. Inside the tart, there is a firm almond cream, custard, and fruits on top. It's quite filling and visually appealing. I ordered a Ginger Ale for my drink. It was served first because I was thirsty, and it came in a generous amount in the bottle. Since I was quite hungry, I ended up eating too much (full stomach). It was a bit too much, but for those who want to try both, the half-size curry set is a more affordable option (I wish I had been smarter and chosen that). This place, with its homemade feel, also offers baked sweets in the western sweets section that seem quite appealing. Dolce is located a 3-minute walk from Moji Port Station, open from 9 am to 6 pm, closed on Tuesdays. Takeout for sweets is available, and there is a paid parking lot nearby. Please check the official website before visiting.

Traveling in Honshu, Kyushu, and Shikoku. For lunch, we crossed the Kanmon Bridge from Yamaguchi to Mojiko Port. For some reason, the specialty in Mojiko Port is baked curry, so we went to this restaurant. They had a set menu, but we didn't find it very appealing and we were short on time, so we just ordered the baked curry and beer. The baked curry wasn't as hot as we expected, making it easy to eat. It's not the best choice for a hot summer day, but we wanted to fully enjoy the local specialty.

At the gate, the specialty here is curry baked, so at first I thought of the seafood lunch at Moji Port, but I changed it to baked curry. In this clean and cute place, I ordered a lunch set that would make girls happy with a half-baked curry, sweets, and a drink. First, we made a fuss by choosing a delicious cake from the showcase, and each of us chose our favorite. The glass for the drink and the plate for the cake are also cute. The baked curry was mild in spiciness and the meat was well stewed. I was very satisfied with the half portion. The cake after the meal was quite large, and the cream cheese cake I had was so delicious that it melted. Ah, it was delicious! Thank you for the meal ⭐⭐

I got takeout for lunch on my day off. The shop offers dishes like baked curry for dining in, but for takeout (from the cake shop), there is a separate entrance to avoid crowds. I ordered baked donuts in curry and plain flavors, and a drink called banana coffee. The baked donuts were consistently delicious, with the plain one coated in sugar. The curry donut did have a curry flavor, but it was more on the sweet side, keeping a good balance with the donut element. The banana coffee was surprisingly tasty. I expected a coffee with a hint of banana flavor, but it was the opposite. It tasted more like banana juice with a coffee twist, giving a texture and drinking experience similar to banana juice, with a slight coffee flavor. It was enjoyable.

After the typhoon passed and the weather cleared up during Silver Week, I went on a touring trip to Aso. When cutting through the wind, it already feels a bit chilly. The Aso Daikanbo observatory had few people around. I stayed overnight near Aso and enjoyed some delicious food from Kyushu. On the way back, I decided to take the back roads to the Kanmon Straits. I arrived in Moji just before noon. When it comes to Moji, you have to try the baked curry. I searched for a baked curry restaurant on Tabelog and found this place. There was no motorcycle parking, so I parked at the Moji Port Station bicycle parking lot. The parking attendant even checked to make sure my bike wouldn't get scratched, and at the tourist information office in the station, they kindly recommended food places to try. Inside the restaurant, there were no other customers. I ordered the vegetable baked curry. Just as my stomach was growling, the baked curry arrived piping hot. It was so hot that I almost burned my mouth. I blew on it repeatedly. The cheese stretched as I lifted the spoon. And, of course, it was still very hot. The vegetables were crunchy. I sipped my white tea carefully to avoid spilling curry. Take your time to eat. It was a baked curry that I would definitely want to eat again.

I used this restaurant when I went on a trip to Fukuoka. I found it while looking for baked curry in Moji Port. It was perfect with beer and disappeared in seconds because it was so delicious. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was calm and comfortable.

The shop has about 3 entrances, with a cake shop, a baked curry shop, and a cafe? set meal? space connected. The daily set meal is priced at 680 yen and includes a main dish, 3 side dishes, salad, rice, miso soup, and coffee, making it a reasonable price (weekdays only). The seasoning is light and healthy. In addition, there are baked curries (which seem to be the main dish), cafe menu items like banana coffee, etc. Cakes are mostly priced in the 300 yen range, which is quite reasonable. I tried the cream puff, which was not too sweet and had plenty of cream, but was easy to eat in one go. The staff at the shop are also friendly. It's a cozy and welcoming place.

There are many curry restaurants around, and I happened to enter this one, Café Dolce. As it is a café, the interior is made of wood, giving off a nostalgic vibe. It feels like something out of a Ghibli movie. If it were Ghibli, they would probably make a mess at the table while eating, but I am an adult so I am confident I can eat cleanly! I ordered the baked curry for 880 yen. It came on a hot plate with black curry topped with white cheese. Under the curry, there was a half-cooked egg hidden. The curry was spicier than I expected. It felt like when a usually kind professor suddenly gives a difficult test. I was surprised by the spiciness, but I was happy. Because, isn't it nice when curry is spicy? Just like how it's nice to pass a difficult test? The cheese and egg added a nice sweetness as an accent, so I was able to enjoy not just the spiciness but also the deliciousness. Eating curry at a café is nice! It's non-smoking, so you don't have to worry about cigarette smoke, which is why there were quite a few families with children there!

[Mojiko Port Specialty] Baked Curry Donut 180 yen, Baked Donut (Banana) 160 yen. The package says "Awarded by the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries." I don't know how prestigious this award is, but since it's from a minister, I decided to buy it. The Banana flavor is delicious, but the Baked Curry Donut is a no-go. The sweet donut and curry flavor just don't go well together. Not recommended! Mojiku area is intense, but interesting!

I chose a famous baked curry dish at the first-class Moji Port. I selected a nearby restaurant that is within walking distance from the station. Since it was a set menu, I also got to enjoy a dessert cake. There is a cake shop next door, where you can buy cakes to take home. Thank you for the delicious meal.

On this day, I casually stopped by "Dolce".
◇Exterior and Interior
Due to an accident called curiosity, I decided to get a cake to take home. (laughs) The exterior looks like a cafe or a stylish cake shop. This shop also offers take-out cakes, but when you enter, instead of the smell of pastries, the aroma of cakes stimulates your appetite.
◇Seating
Since it was take-out both this time and last time, please refer to other reviews for details.
◇Menu Composition
There are several types of cakes, as well as cream puffs, pudding, jelly, apple pie, etc. They also have Western sweets like cookies. The items I ordered are as follows:
- Chocolate Tart (350 yen)
→ I'm not a fan of chocolate, but I chose a rich chocolate flavor to get rid of the taste after the accident. The taste is a strong chocolate flavor with a mild sweetness, and the whipped cream plays a gentle role, while the base adds a texture accent, making it delicious in a standard way. This strong chocolate flavor would be perfect for those who like it!
◆Strengths
A shop that offers both cakes and baked curry.
◆Customer Service
Average.
◆Summary
It has been a few years since I last visited. I don't go out to the Moji Port Retro area as often as before, but in these times, it's good to contribute to the local community occasionally. Although I am not a resident of Moji. (laughs) Thank you for the meal.

The curry version of the cheese-topped doria is surprisingly delicious. The curry, soft-boiled egg, and toppings allow for different flavors with each bite. The chicken in the chicken curry has a spicy seasoning that complements the curry well. The hamburger in the hamburger curry is the size of a fist and quite satisfying. The restaurant also has a cake shop attached, and the chestnut tart was also delicious.

I stopped by for lunch during my visit to Moji sightseeing. The restaurant is right next to a tourist spot in Moji, with a parking lot next door. It seemed like an established place with many autographed photos of famous people inside. I ordered the famous baked curry, knowing that just because famous people have been there doesn't mean the food will be delicious. When the baked curry arrived, it was piping hot. At first bite, it was too hot to taste, but as I continued eating, I could taste that it was just regular curry. However, I still enjoyed it.

I ordered the half-cooked curry set for 1300 yen, and it came out in about 10 minutes. It includes cake and a drink. I visited at 4:30 pm because all the other curry restaurants I wanted to go to had already finished last orders. Honestly, for this content and taste, 1300 yen seems expensive, right? It would be better if it was around 800 yen. I probably won't come back. Sorry.

Half of the store has been renovated, and there are sparkling delicious sweets lined up. The other half of the space is a dining area, which has a retro Showa-era atmosphere. It was crowded on the weekend, so I had a cake set in the retro area, and it was a very relaxing space. I would like to visit again if I have the chance.

While taking a stroll from Shimonoseki to Moji Port, we had a late lunch at this place. They serve a specialty of Moji Port - baked curry. It's curry topped with cheese and baked in the oven until it gets a nice crust. Some places add vegetables or eggs, so there's room for creativity. Curry + Cheese + Oven = Absolutely delicious. This one had a simple curry with cheese, giving it a rustic feel. Thank you for the meal!

While walking through Moji Port Retro, I came across a sign that read "Handmade Cake and Curry Shop." The combination of sweets and curry seemed unusual, so I was intrigued and decided to enter the shop called "Dolce." Since I had just eaten, I decided to skip the baked curry and opted for some donuts instead. I bought two types of donuts - a regular one and a curry-flavored one. The donuts had a unique texture, different from the fluffy donuts with large holes from major donut chains. They were more like financiers or madeleines with less oil. The plain donut had a traditional taste, while the curry donut had a distinctive combination of cumin aroma and sweetness, almost like the prince of curries. It was a delightful experience.

We visited Dolce near Mojiko Retro in Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture to have tea with three people. We ordered Amazake Matcha Latte for 600 yen, Coffee Zenzai for 550 yen, and Blend Coffee for 450 yen. The amazake is made using only the rice "Yumetsukushi" from the Sarubami district in Mojiko, with about three times the rice koji, rich in amino acids and vitamins. The green color of the cup and matcha is beautiful. The Coffee Zenzai also comes in a bowl with a design of the moon and rabbit, which is wonderful. I had hot coffee, which was rich and delicious. Other customers were enjoying the baked curry, which smelled delicious, so I look forward to trying it next time. Dolce comes highly recommended!
