In the morning, we did the agricultural experience that my son was begging for in Tokachi, and then moved to Tomamu. It was quite a distance to travel - the Tower Hotel visible from the highway was impressive. It was our first time staying at a Hoshino Resort. Even though this one is relatively affordable, it still costs a fair bit... but it's totally okay! It feels a bit like the bubble era with Norah Hirano vibes, haha. We parked the car and checked in, eagerly entering the Tower Hotel. Although it has been renovated, the room layout and facilities have a somewhat old-fashioned feel, which is a bit disappointing. But hey, it's Hoshino Resort, so it's all good haha. The hotel facilities are within walking distance, while some require taking a bus. There are very few dining options nearby, and the closest convenience store (Seicomart) is a 30-minute drive away - truly a remote area. As we had eaten a lot during the agricultural experience at lunch, the whole family had lost their appetite. We decided to go to a place that serves light meals and isn't crowded, so we headed to a restaurant called "17" at 5 PM. It's convenient that you can check the restaurant's congestion status on the Hoshino Resort Tomamu website. Since it was early, we were able to be seated without any trouble. Let's take a look at the menu and decide what to order. First, let's start with beer. We ordered a tofu salad, onigiri for my son, onion ring fry, deer meat Genghis Khan, miso eggplant, edamame, mozuku vinegar, and grilled squid. The dishes and drinks were brought to us promptly. In that sense, speed seems to be crucial. We tried the tofu salad first. The taste of the beans was solid and good. The onion rings had a hard batter, and the onion slipped out, unfortunately. The deer Genghis Khan had a strong meaty flavor, which was delicious. The grilled squid also had that Hokkaido taste, making it a recommended dish. The eggplant and mozuku vinegar were decent. However, the edamame was clearly thawed from frozen, which was quite disappointing. The sake made us feel good, but there were some subtle points that stood out. Nevertheless, it's a convenient restaurant within the hotel, and the fact that it's relatively empty is a plus.
