A bit salty, but the pepper, green onion, and sesame oil flavors come together harmoniously. The slightly smoked aroma is also nice. Delicious! The miso soup was lively with ingredients like trefoil, enoki mushrooms, and carrots. The flavor was mild and tasty. And the mackerel fritters. They were so delicious! Crispy and fluffy coating with juicy mackerel inside. It was really tasty. Finished it all in one go. It was delicious! The portion was a bit too much for me, and I was full. This mackerel rice was fantastic. The saltiness was a bit strong for me, but it was incredibly delicious. I would love to try a different set meal next time.

It took about 10 minutes to arrive as they were going to grill it freshly. The grilled mackerel was quite large, almost a half fish, and looked impressive enough to go well with three bowls of rice. It was served with shredded cabbage, rice, miso soup, tofu, and pickles. The mackerel was good, but I was expecting more richness from the fatty part. Near Hankyu Umeda Station, there is a mackerel specialty store located inside Hankyu Sanbangai. I arrived just before 7 pm on a weekday and the restaurant was about 80% full. Even at night, you can order from the lunch menu, so I ordered the grilled fatty mackerel set meal for 1,100 yen and the specialty raw fatty mackerel for 880 yen. The raw fatty mackerel is served without being marinated in vinegar, and it is very delicious with a rich flavor. I have only had mackerel sashimi from the Kansai region before, but this was more affordable and tasty. The grilled mackerel was also delicious, but the impact of the sashimi was greater.

I've been to their main store in Fukushima and their store in Kobe before. I love their delicious mackerel dishes. It's been a while since I last visited. I didn't even realize I had walked into the shop until I found myself seated. I really love mackerel! Oh, I just went fishing and ate mackerel the day before! When I noticed, I was already seated. How much do I love mackerel! Haha. It seems they only serve lunch menus at this time. I was drawn to the "Grilled Mackerel with Salt" that I saw outside, but as I looked at the menu, I wanted to try a variety of dishes. There were set meals, bowls, and more. The bowls could be combined with two small portions, but they didn't come with grilled mackerel. The only option seemed to be the grilled mackerel set meal or the small side dish set meal. My table had the characters "保坂", and even the staff didn't seem to know the reason. I ordered the main dish of the restaurant, grilled salted mackerel set meal for 1,100 yen. The mackerel was huge ('◇')ゞ Normally, mackerel served in izakayas is either the belly or the lower half. Here, it was a big half with the head still attached. It came with a bonito-flavored clear soup, bite-sized cold tofu, and cucumber slices. Next to the mackerel were shredded cabbage, tomato, grated daikon, a well-balanced menu. The mackerel was delicious as expected. Being called "toro-saba", it was fatty and juicy, with few small bones and easy-to-remove large bones. I silently finished my meal, but those kanji characters on the table kept bothering me. I paid quickly with PayPay. Thanks for the delicious mackerel!

I went to this place in Umeda for dinner alone. I decided to order the grilled salted mackerel that I had been wanting to try. When it arrived, I noticed something strange - the grilled mackerel was facing to the right. Typically, in Japanese cuisine, a whole fish should be facing left. As I ate, I realized the reason for this. It turns out that it was not a whole mackerel, but only half of one. The side facing down and to the left was probably eaten by the person next to me, leaving me with the right-facing half. I had mistakenly thought it was a whole fish. The grilled mackerel was indeed fatty and tender, as expected from "toro-saba," but the flavor as a mackerel was a bit weak. Well, considering the price, it's understandable that the quality is for half a fish.

The appetizer was a mackerel mayo salad served in a can-like dish and small mackerel sushi. It was truly a mackerel feast. The fish & chips were fried in a way that resembled tempura. They were satisfyingly large and the potatoes were a bit salty. The gratin, although not containing macaroni as expected, had a good balance between the mackerel and tomato flavors. It was a delicious Western-style dish. There are other enticing dishes on the menu, and I definitely want to come back.

In Umeda, I had dinner alone at a place in Hankyu Sanban-gai where there seemed to be plenty of mackerel set meals. I ordered the mackerel set meal with various dishes like fried mackerel, salt-grilled mackerel, pickled mackerel, and another dish that I can't remember. For drinks, I couldn't have alcohol so I asked for tea, which was offered as a complimentary service. The mackerel set meal is good for trying mackerel cooked in different ways, but if you prefer quantity, the salt-grilled mackerel set meal is a better choice as it comes with a whole fish. In the back, everyone was toasting with mackerel dishes, so next time I'll have mackerel dishes with my drink.
