Located near the Shinkansen central ticket gate at Shin-Osaka Station, behind the Seven-Eleven in the Antre Marche Shin-Osaka Central Exit area, is "Rikuro Ojisan no mise". I remembered last time I forgot to buy it before boarding the Shinkansen, so this time I stopped by on my way back to the hotel after breakfast. The "Cheesecake" (765 yen) comes in a type that has cooled down and one that is freshly baked. When I asked which one would be better to take on the Shinkansen back to Tokyo, I was told that even the freshly baked one would be fine if I put it in the refrigerator at home, so I chose the freshly baked one. Watching them bake right in front of me, I couldn't help but want the freshly baked one. After returning home, I put it in the refrigerator and then cut it to enjoy. It had a fluffy texture, not too sweet, with a refreshing taste, and the raisins were soft, creating a well-balanced and delicious cheesecake. I also like the rich type, but I like the unique lightness of this one. Unexpectedly, the box had a Christmas version, and the cheesecake had a Santa hat imprint, making me feel a little lucky. It's a must-buy item every time I go to Osaka.

Considering the size of the portion, I think it offers good value for the money. Just warm it up a little and it becomes a fluffy, melt-in-your-mouth treat. It's only available in Osaka, so it's a great souvenir from there! They also offer sets that you can eat right away, so some people might enjoy them on the Shinkansen ride back home. It seems like you can bring it back with you for up to 7 hours without refrigeration. They also have frozen options available.

I usually buy things at the convenience store, but this time I decided to buy at Rikuro Ojisan in Shin-Osaka Station. It was scorching hot and I had to consider the time it takes to carry the items from one station to another, so I chose the store right outside the central exit, in front of the spacious waiting area. Despite it being the week before Obon, the place was packed with people. It was so crowded that the line for the neighboring 551 Horai shop, with dozens of people, was intimidating. Rikuro Ojisan mainly sells cheesecakes, which are baked in batches of 12 every ten minutes. The cakes are incredibly light, slightly smaller than regular whole cakes, and priced under 1,000 yen. Some may prefer the cakes fresh out of the oven, while others might like them after a day in the fridge. They even sell disposable forks and knives for 10 yen, so you can enjoy the cake on the Shinkansen. Personally, I had a four-hour journey back to my home in Saitama, so I planned to enjoy the cake with my family the next evening. After letting it chill in the fridge overnight, the cake was perfect. Despite Rikuro Ojisan himself looking a bit wrinkled on the package, the cake was delicious - simple, moist, and with a nice melt-in-your-mouth texture. The key is the Danish cheese and raisins at the bottom. It's a must-try!

This day I went back to Kansai. For some reason, I was suddenly requested to get Rikuro Ojisan's cheesecake. I remembered that Rikuro Ojisan's shop was inside the ticket gate of the local train line, not just outside the Shinkansen ticket gate. However, it turns out there is a shop outside the central exit of Shin-Osaka station as well. Since I wasn't taking the local train, this location was more convenient. So I went there and found it. Rikuro Ojisan's shop was located next to 551 Horai. These are two big names in Kansai. Since I hadn't had lunch yet, I was more interested in 551, but in the end, I bought Rikuro Ojisan's cheesecake. I bought a whole cheesecake for 965 yen (tax included), which has a diameter of 18cm. I brought it home, chilled it, and then enjoyed it. As always, it's a unique cheesecake with a sponge-like texture and not much cheese flavor. It didn't appeal to children, but adults enjoyed it for its nostalgic taste. It's not particularly luxurious or incredibly delicious, but it's one of Kansai's soul foods. Considering the price for a whole cake, it's very reasonable and a good snack. It's probably popular because of its cost-effectiveness. Nowadays, it's rare to find a whole cake for less than a thousand yen. Visit date: July 28, 2023.

When it comes to Osaka souvenirs at Shin-Osaka Station, one can't miss the cheesecake from Rikuro Ojisan. They offer freshly baked cheesecakes, which are best enjoyed warm. However, there is usually a long line to purchase one. The cheesecake has a mild sweetness and a refreshing taste, with raisins scattered throughout. It is recommended to warm it in the microwave for 20-30 seconds at 500w. Overall, it is delicious whether eaten warm or chilled. Enjoy!

I stopped by Osaka Station to buy cheesecake during Golden Week, but there was an unbelievably long line, so I couldn't buy it and gave up. Today, during my business trip to Osaka, I saw a shop near the Shinkansen ticket gate that caught my eye, and asked my daughter, "Could it be that shop with the long line?" It was indeed. Of course, I made a purchase. First, I bought some for my family and tried it. I compared the microwaved cheesecake with the chilled cheesecake - both were delicious. The cheesecake that melts in your mouth. The creamy cheesecake is delicious. I can see why people line up for it.

Rikuro Uncle, who hasn't been seen in over 20 years, has opened a store inside the New Osaka Station ticket gates. I remember that in the past, the cheesecakes were around 600 yen each, making them affordable even for students, but now they are priced at ¥965 due to the changing times. Both Rikuro Uncle and 551 are popular inside the ticket gates, with long lines. These shops don't have locations in Tokyo, making them perfect for souvenirs. The nostalgic fluffy souffle cheesecake has a light taste, with raisins sprinkled on the bottom for added flavor. It's delicious when eaten chilled during this season.

This is not an exaggeration to say that I came just for this. It's incredibly delicious. The most delicious in the world. It's so light that one person can finish it in one go, with the simple deliciousness of eggs and the warmth of cheese... It's almost like drinking because you inhale it while eating. And for some reason, this store is not that crowded. You can buy it right away. This is the only choice for souvenirs for my family. Probably. I don't know.

Recently, when it comes to Osaka souvenirs, this place seems to be popular. The main store is located in Namba and was established in 1989. The number of stores has increased significantly. There is also a branch in the JR conventional line market in Shin-Osaka. Last night, on a Friday night, there was a long line of about 20 people. Today, on Saturday, around noon, there was no line yet, maybe before the peak hours? Due to a shortage of eggs, there is a limit of 2 rolls per person. I managed to get one roll for 965 yen. It's like a Taiwanese castella in Harajuku or a fluffy souffle pancake in Roppongi. I brought it home and ate it. The flavor of the eggs is strong, giving a fluffy castella-like sensation. According to reviews, some people buy it fresh and eat it on the spot. I microwaved it at home, and it reminded me that it's a cheesecake. In any case, it was a simple and delicious cake. I have become a fan.

I had some time before the Shinkansen departure, so I lined up to buy it. However, on the day I went, there was a limit on the number of items sold, and they seemed to sell out every hour. The line outside the gate was about a 2-hour wait... Luckily, we didn't have to wait long and managed to get 2 for my parents and brother without waiting in line for more than 30 minutes. We enjoyed them on the Shinkansen ride back. Should I eat one now? There was a tasting event on the Shinkansen. I took a bite and oh my goodness, this is so delicious!! It's fluffy and not too sweet. Isn't this cheesecake just the best? I feel like I want to try the freshly made ones at a store in Namba. I will definitely buy it again! Thank you for the meal.

I had heard rumors about this cheesecake in Osaka, so I decided to try it for the first time. I also got an apple pie while I was there. There's always a line, isn't there? The surface looks wrinkled, but the taste is great. I wanted to eat the whole thing by myself. It's not too heavy, and it's light. Kids might not like it, but adults might enjoy the rum raisins in it. I've decided to buy two next time. The apple pie was good too, but in terms of value for money, the cheesecake wins. Thank you for the meal.

There is a shop located behind Antrema Marche in front of the shinkansen ticket gates at JR Shin-Osaka Station. I purchased the popular freshly baked cheesecake and half-size apple pie. I tried the freshly baked cheesecake, which is a fluffy treat made with cream cheese from Denmark, milk from Hokkaido, butter, fresh eggs, and homemade raisins. It's a must-try for cheesecake lovers and a specialty limited to Osaka. The cheesecake is 18cm in diameter and each person can buy up to 2 pieces. The expiration date is 3 days including the day of purchase, and it should be refrigerated once it cools down. There was a bit of a line when I visited, but they were baking 12 pieces every 8 minutes, so the turnover was quick. If you don't want to wait, they also sell pre-baked cheesecakes, so feel free to ask the staff. I also tried the half-size apple pie, which is a delicious treat with honey and butter-flavored apples sandwiched between crispy pie crust. It's recommended for apple pie lovers and was my lucky find as it was the last piece available when I visited. Don't underestimate the apple pie, it's just as tasty as the cheesecake. They also sell kits with forks and plates for easy eating on the shinkansen. This shop is a must-visit for cheesecake enthusiasts.

Looking back, the price has gone up but it's still delicious. I bought two as souvenirs this time and tried to eat a whole one, but gave up halfway through, which was disappointing. Next time, I'll challenge it again on an emptier stomach (lol).

I arrived at Shin-Osaka on the Shinkansen and bought two freshly baked Uncle Rikuro's cheesecakes. I arrived around 10 am on a weekday. I also bought some on my way back on a Sunday, but had to wait for about 20 minutes. The cheesecakes were taken out of the frame right in front of me, and they were fluffy and delicious. The ones that had sat for a while were a bit firmer, but still tasty. The warm, freshly baked ones were especially delicious.

After finishing the Osaka Marathon, I decided to buy something on my way back. I asked a staff member how long the wait would be, and they said it would be around 1 to 1.5 hours. I then asked if the station stores were less crowded, and was told they had sold out for the day. However, I really wanted to buy this item, so I decided to wait in line for the free seating. I was able to purchase it in about an hour. You can buy up to two items, so I bought two. I also bought a mochi-like cake with kinako, which was incredibly delicious. I also bought a fork and knife set for 100 yen so I could eat it fresh on the Shinkansen. The free seating in the 7 pm time slot was spacious and comfortable. I spread out the cake on the table and used the fork to eat it. It melted in my mouth and was extremely tasty! I couldn't resist and ate a third of it in one go. It was so good! Even when I got home, I could warm it up in the microwave for 10-20 seconds and it was still delicious the next day. Considering the price increase, the taste was definitely worth it. I hope it becomes available in Tokyo soon, but at the same time, I hope it remains a special treat unique to Osaka. It gave me another reason to want to visit Osaka again. It was really delicious!

When I went back to Osaka, I made sure to buy the cheesecake from 551 Horai and Uncle Rikuro. Before boarding the Shinkansen, I went to Rikuro's. It was a Friday afternoon, so there was a long line of salarymen returning from business trips... They announced that the cheesecakes were baked every 8 minutes, and each time they were freshly baked. I ended up waiting for about 20 minutes... Everyone was choosing the cheesecake, but the salaryman in front of me ordered the "mochikko set," which made me curious and I ended up ordering it too. The mochikko set includes 3 mochikko kinako bread and one cheesecake. When I got home, I tried them. The mochikko kinako bread was a chewy fried doughnut with kinako (soybean flour) sprinkled on top. It was chewy and delicious, with a satisfying size. It was my first time trying something other than cheesecake at Rikuro's. The cheesecake was consistently delicious. It was a fluffy cheesecake with a mild cheese flavor, light and airy texture, with raisins as an accent. They have been gradually increasing the prices, but the deliciousness makes me want to keep eating it.

Today, I was invited to a friend's house for a takoyaki party, so I brought the Kansai classic "Rikuro Ojisan's cheesecake" as a gift. When I arrived at the shop and looked around, a bell rang. It was perfect timing, and I was able to get a freshly baked cheesecake without waiting! The takoyaki party was so much fun, with the delicious homemade appetizers made by the hostess. I couldn't stop eating before even getting to the takoyaki (lol). We used a takoyaki maker that can make 24 at a time, and we made a total of 72 takoyaki and devoured them all. It was a great time. Let's do it again soon. Can't wait! :)

On Friday, February 3rd, I went on a day trip to Osaka. For this trip, I decided to bring back souvenirs from Osaka that I personally consider representative of the city - 551 Horai and Rikuro Ojisan. I have purchased Rikuro Ojisan's cheesecake multiple times, but this is my first time writing a review. Rikuro Ojisan's cheesecake comes in two types - freshly baked and pre-baked for the day. Of course, the freshly baked ones are popular and there was a line as usual. On this day, there were about 6 people in line, but back in early December when I bought it, there was a huge line. They were efficiently baking and packing the cheesecakes in batches of 12. When I received the box, it was still hot, and even when I got home, it still had a warmth to it. I ate it the next day, paired with hand-drip coffee, and it was delicious. The freshly baked cheesecake costs 865 yen including tax, which is a bit higher than before, but I think it's understandable. It's still reasonably priced, so I look forward to savoring it as a great souvenir from Osaka.

I received this as a souvenir. It's huge, haha. I compared it to a lipstick for size reference, and it's quite big. Despite its size, it has a slightly souffle-like texture, and I was able to easily eat a 1/6 slice. It may get boring if it's just a regular cheesecake, but the raisins at the bottom add a nice accent. Thank you for the meal.

I heard about this popular souvenir in Osaka and decided to buy it before heading home. There were two lines, one for freshly baked items and one for refrigerated items. I chose the refrigerated items and only had to wait for about 20-30 minutes. The cake was refreshing and had a creamy texture like pudding. The sweetness from the raisins scattered throughout the base was perfect. I felt like I could keep eating this cake endlessly. I definitely want to buy it again when I visit Osaka in the future.

When it comes to souvenirs from Osaka, Rikuro is one of the options. Personally, I like "Zuuchi," but I couldn't go to Kayashima to buy it, so I bought a cheesecake at Kaerino Shin-Osaka Station. I layered it with 551 and took the Shinkansen together. When I got home and took it out of the bag, there was a sticker of Rikuro Ojisan on the bag, and it was gone. Oh well. I cut it and microwaved it for a little over 10 seconds, and it came out fluffy like freshly made. It has a nice scent, and this cheesecake is delicious after all. Thank you for the meal.
