In Dazaifu City, Fukuoka Prefecture, there is a conveyor belt sushi restaurant located along a prefectural road. This restaurant is considered a pioneer in the area, with a history of over 30 years. Within a 2-kilometer radius of this restaurant, there are competing conveyor belt sushi restaurants ranked from 1st to 4th in the industry. As someone who doesn't often visit conveyor belt sushi restaurants, I decided to visit this place on a weekday at 11:30 am. There were hardly any customers when I arrived, but I noticed three female staff members on the floor. I couldn't see any sushi chefs, so I wondered if the sushi was made by hand or by a machine. I was seated and looked at the menu. I ordered the "Mankitsu Sushi Lunch" for 1,026 yen, which included 11 pieces of nigiri sushi and miso soup. The sushi was rotating on the lane in front of me, and although I was tempted to take some while waiting, I resisted and waited for my order. The sushi was served in about 6 minutes, and it looked good. For the price, it was decent. The sushi included osinko, tamagoyaki, medium-fatty tuna gunkan, raw shrimp, salmon, baby scallop, tsubugai, sea bream, tuna akami, squid, and horse mackerel. Although they looked good, they were quite thin. Only the horse mackerel and raw shrimp stood out in terms of taste. I wondered if the sushi rotating on the lane was the same quality. I should have ordered the higher-priced sushi lunch for 1,782 yen, but I didn't have the budget for it. The miso soup that came with the meal was ordinary, with seaweed, tofu, and green onions. I felt that supermarket packaged sushi might be better than this basic nigiri sushi. I considered trying the sushi priced at 400 yen per plate that was rotating on the lane, but after calculating that it would cost 2,000 yen for five plates, I thought I might as well eat at a proper sushi restaurant. Could the high number of female staff members be affecting the size and quality of the sushi toppings? This was the honest opinion of a dissatisfied customer at this restaurant.
