When I arrived in Fukuoka in 1993, I visited this restaurant with my young children. It was not crowded on a Saturday afternoon around 1 pm, which was quite different from over 20 years ago when there used to be long waiting lines. It seems like the popularity of 100 yen conveyor belt sushi chains has influenced this. Although it is a conveyor belt sushi restaurant, they also offer soba noodles. I ordered the small soba noodles for 380 yen. The soba noodles are made using a blend of three types of flour - inner, middle, and outer layers, called "ground mix". The texture was firm, but the aroma of the soba was not very strong. It tasted better with yuzu pepper added. In addition to the soba, I also had a plate with yellowtail and salmon, a battleship roll with squid and quail egg, and an enoki mushroom roll. The yellowtail was fresh and had a good texture. The sushi pieces were larger than those at a 100 yen conveyor belt sushi place. In total, I had 9 plates plus the soba noodles for a total of 2,750 yen including tax, when combined with my wife and eldest daughter's orders. For a slightly higher price, you can enjoy lunch at a non-conveyor belt sushi restaurant.

Today's lunch was at Sushi Daijin...! I used to see it quite often in Fukuoka city, but recently I haven't seen it much. It seems that there is fierce competition now. I couldn't remember the last time I visited! When I looked it up, I found out that the main store is in Tosu City, Saga Prefecture...! It was a little before lunchtime, but the seating rate was about 50%...! Perhaps due to the prices, there was a lot of senior citizens there! I ordered the limited lunch set for 20 people...! - Value Sushi Lunch (8 pieces of nigiri for 648 yen) Apart from the revolving sushi, you order other sushi using a touch panel and side dishes by writing on paper...! I got a bit surprised by the prices before ordering, as I have gotten used to the prices at Sushiro...! The prices ranged from 140 yen to 594 yen per plate, and the usual sushi I eat is around 248 yen to 302 yen... quite pricey...! With just 4 plates, I was already over 1,000 yen... yikes...! But in return, the toppings and rice were generously sized...! While I was contemplating, the order arrived in about 10 minutes! Today's toppings were... salmon, horse mackerel, squid, shrimp, tuna, minced tuna with green onions, greater amberjack, and egg...! The soy sauce was slightly spicy, which is unusual for the Kyushu region! Each topping was thick, so I enjoyed the textures while being able to try various types one by one! To make the most of it, I ordered another item that caught my eye...! - Seared mackerel sushi (248 yen) I love mackerel (especially seared), so this was a safe bet... thick mackerel with a firm rice base, a perfect balance! The ordered sushi arrived on the top conveyor belt (shinkansen-style), which was the same as other chain stores! I wanted a bit more, so I shared some soba...! - Small plate of soba (100% buckwheat soba for 356 yen) Sushi Daijin has another brand (Ginjiro) that serves soba! The cold soba had a chewy and firm texture, and the soba dipping sauce was sweet and salty! It was quite delicious...! One thing that caught my attention was that the edges of the rice were standing out, making it look like it was machine-made... Given the high pricing, I thought it would be nice to have some attention to detail in the rice...!

Petit rich sushi lunch. Dazaifu "Sushi Minister" January 7, 2019 NEW! Theme: Fukuoka City suburbs/South Lunch while driving in the car. In Dazaifu, I couldn't help but stop by "Sushi Minister" ... I realized that it was a sushi lunch two days in a row. The previous day was rushed because of lack of time, but this time I had time to relax ... Tuna, ikura, flying fish roe, and maguro for 248 yen, ikura for 358 yen ... Even the cheap flying fish roe plate was 194 yen ... Sushi Minister sure is expensive ... The small portion of soba was 410 yen, and I also had basil salmon and kazunoko ... Before I knew it, the bill was 1596 yen ... Oh no, I relaxed too much ... By the way, the sushi this time was not that great ... Especially the kazunoko was not good ... ● Store Information Sushi Minister 092-922-3297 Dazaifu City Yoshimatsu 3-13-1 Business hours 11:00-23:00

I personally like this 100 yen sushi restaurant more than others because the quality is higher. I highly recommend the squid salad for 130 yen, which is a gunkan sushi. I usually have about 3 plates of it. The avocado cheese roll and negitoro for 230 yen are also recommended. You can also get takeout.

On this day, I visited here with my employees (^^)v At first, I planned to just have some sushi as a snack, but I ended up ordering a beer first and enjoying a few pieces of sushi (*^^*) Then, before I knew it, I was on my second, then third beer (lol). Since there was a sign saying that fresh thread-sail filefish had arrived, I decided to order it~(^^)v It had been a while since I had thread-sail filefish, and it was delicious with the liver sauce (^ . ^) I ordered a variety of dishes, but another highlight was the horse sashimi~(。・_・。)ノ It was a top-notch quality horse sashimi (^^)d After that, I kept drinking shochu and ended up staying until closing time (lol) Thank you for the meal~

In Dazaifu City, Fukuoka Prefecture, there is a conveyor belt sushi restaurant located along a prefectural road. This restaurant is considered a pioneer in the area, with a history of over 30 years. Within a 2-kilometer radius of this restaurant, there are competing conveyor belt sushi restaurants ranked from 1st to 4th in the industry. As someone who doesn't often visit conveyor belt sushi restaurants, I decided to visit this place on a weekday at 11:30 am. There were hardly any customers when I arrived, but I noticed three female staff members on the floor. I couldn't see any sushi chefs, so I wondered if the sushi was made by hand or by a machine. I was seated and looked at the menu. I ordered the "Mankitsu Sushi Lunch" for 1,026 yen, which included 11 pieces of nigiri sushi and miso soup. The sushi was rotating on the lane in front of me, and although I was tempted to take some while waiting, I resisted and waited for my order. The sushi was served in about 6 minutes, and it looked good. For the price, it was decent. The sushi included osinko, tamagoyaki, medium-fatty tuna gunkan, raw shrimp, salmon, baby scallop, tsubugai, sea bream, tuna akami, squid, and horse mackerel. Although they looked good, they were quite thin. Only the horse mackerel and raw shrimp stood out in terms of taste. I wondered if the sushi rotating on the lane was the same quality. I should have ordered the higher-priced sushi lunch for 1,782 yen, but I didn't have the budget for it. The miso soup that came with the meal was ordinary, with seaweed, tofu, and green onions. I felt that supermarket packaged sushi might be better than this basic nigiri sushi. I considered trying the sushi priced at 400 yen per plate that was rotating on the lane, but after calculating that it would cost 2,000 yen for five plates, I thought I might as well eat at a proper sushi restaurant. Could the high number of female staff members be affecting the size and quality of the sushi toppings? This was the honest opinion of a dissatisfied customer at this restaurant.

The Sushi Minister enjoys a variety of alcohol options and visited a conveyor belt sushi restaurant for drinks with an acquaintance. They tried various sushi, all made with fresh ingredients like sea bream and amberjack. As they started to get full, they ordered side dishes like horse mackerel sashimi and tempura. While the nigiri sushi, including live horse mackerel and flounder, was delicious, they started to crave cured and marinated toppings. The Sushi Minister preferred fresh ingredients, while a major chain focused on creativity and variety, leading to a slight difference in quality. The total cost for two people exceeded 10,000 yen, including several small bottles of cold sake. Overall, it was a bit pricey, but the meal was enjoyable.

Established in Tosu, this long-standing restaurant is credited with popularizing conveyor belt sushi. At one point, the Sushi Daijin chain flourished, even acquiring a branch in Nagasaki and expanding to include employee welfare facilities and training centers. However, it now appears to be struggling against other conveyor belt sushi chains. To diversify, they launched a second brand called "Ginjiro" that specializes in soba noodles. The Fukuoka branch, initially named "Sushi Daijin," later changed its name to "Ginjiro" before reverting back to "Sushi Daijin." The presence of a "Ginjiro Corner" within the restaurant is perplexing. The ordering system is automated with touch panels, but some items require calling a staff member to place an order. Despite the lackluster sushi quality, a lunch set featuring 15 pieces of sushi and miso soup for 1,080 yen was ordered, along with "ara-jiru" soup and "ko-zaru soba" noodles. The sushi lacked freshness and the rice was subpar. The soba noodles, despite being labeled as 100% buckwheat, were surprisingly smooth and lacked flavor. The restaurant was nearly empty during lunchtime, reflecting the decline in quality.

It is a revolving sushi restaurant that also offers live fish tanks, soba noodles, and other dishes. It is not a counter-style restaurant, so you cannot see the chefs, but the food that comes out is of good quality. The prices are higher compared to other revolving sushi restaurants, but cheaper compared to traditional sushi restaurants. Even on holidays, you can dine without having to wait long. The customers seem to be relatively well-off.

Even though there are many 100 yen sushi places and it's become a popular choice, when I went back after a long time, I found the sushi pieces were bigger and thought "it's still delicious." It's right near my house so I used to pass by often, but my husband would say, "In winter, you crave sushi more than in the summer." I feel like sushi is perfect for winter. When I invite my mom out for a meal, we often choose this restaurant. Our favorites are the large sushi pieces and seared sushi. They are so tasty!

The rotating sushi restaurant is a bit on the expensive side, but I think the quality of the fish is good. The main difference compared to rotating sushi restaurants in Tokyo is the soy sauce. It is slightly sweet with a thick consistency, similar to sashimi soy sauce, which is a popular taste in Kyushu households. Additionally, they provide different sauces to suit your preferences, like for eel, which is a positive aspect in terms of taste. If we were only considering the quality of the fish, I would give it four stars. However, I feel that the rice in the sushi is a bit too firm, which may be why I feel full after eating fewer pieces. This is why I rated it three and a half stars. Unlike other rotating sushi restaurants where the sushi chef is in the middle of the train making the sushi, here you cannot see the chef, so it's unclear if the sushi is made by a machine. Personally, I don't really like this atmosphere because I enjoy watching the sushi chef's movements and skills. However, I must mention that the restaurant is clean and well-maintained. During my visit around 8 pm for dinner, the restaurant was relatively quiet, possibly due to the rainy weather, and the staff seemed a bit lackluster. Overall, I would consider going back again if I have the chance.
