A restaurant serving motsunabe topped with mentaiko. The mentaiko was cooked through, but surprisingly delicious. Adding champon noodles at the end made it even more delicious. The richness of the soup and the quality of the motsu make it worth visiting this popular restaurant. However, the tableware was not very clean.

I live in Fukuoka, but I want to go back again! A great place to fully enjoy Hakata. The waitresses were attentive and helpful. They explained the dishes in detail. I could feel the food culture of Fukuoka with the handmade iron plate for motsu-yaki and the shime dish. Besides us, there were many tourists or business people from Korea, China, and other foreign countries (Thailand?!).

This was my first visit. It is located on a street behind Canal towards Hakata Station. It's right around the corner from Tenjin. I think it used to be a different ramen shop before, but I'm not sure. They have a system where you buy a ticket before entering. I was planning to get the tonkotsu ramen, but I saw they had something called maze soba on the menu. I thought it might be like a soup-less tantanmen, so I had to try it. It was thin noodles with chopped onions, wood ear mushrooms, plenty of green onions, and a sauce poured over it. They told me to mix it well before eating, so I mixed it thoroughly. And let me tell you, it was delicious. It had a sweet and spicy flavor, very rich and tasty but not heavy. It was just incredibly delicious. It's different from soup-less tantanmen, but it was really tasty. They also had a tonkotsu ramen that looked delicious, with a light broth. Thank you for the meal.

I was disappointed that they didn't have motsu ramen, but I still enjoyed my meal. I like rice dishes, so I usually order fried rice instead of extra noodles, but in Hakata, extra noodles seem to be the norm. Nevertheless, I was satisfied with my meal.

I visited this restaurant for a gathering. The first floor was a ramen shop and the second floor was a motsunabe (offal hot pot) restaurant. The motsunabe was okay, but the appetizers, salad, and meat sashimi were not great. There was a nearby restaurant with a long line, but this place had available seating without a reservation. The ramen shop didn't have many customers either.

The desired store was closed again. Maybe I'll go to Tenka instead. Why is it closed? It's annoying. There were no other customers. Is this place following a manual? The staff's explanation was too long and unnecessary. The food arrived in about 5 minutes. Oh, so here time doesn't matter. I got the rich ramen, but I'm not sure what makes it rich. The sauce was too salty. What a day!

In front of Hakata Station, there was a new ramen shop called "Menya Bentendo." It seems to be related to the famous Bentendo shop in Daimyo, but this one is the main branch. I had the creamy tonkotsu ramen for 750 yen. The noodles were thin and the broth was creamy with a bit of foam. The shop is not very big, but it seems like there is seating upstairs for group events at night. The ramen was good, and it seems popular with tourists. It's recommended to add plenty of pickled ginger. It would be nice if Bentendo could offer variations like soy sauce-based ramen in addition to the Hakata style.

When you think of Hakata, you think of motsunabe (tripe hot pot). Located in the midst of a fierce competition area with well-known motsunabe restaurants like Motsunabe Rakutenchi, Ittou, and Maedaya, Bentendo stands out. Motsunabe can be heavy and have a lingering impact the next day, making it a dish that you choose the day to eat carefully. However, Bentendo's motsunabe doesn't have that heavy aftereffect. It's not lacking in flavor either. The extremely creamy motsunabe with mentaiko (spicy cod roe) was delicious, and this time I tried the non-mentaiko version, which was also amazing. I also had horse sashimi, which was incredibly tasty. The dumplings, which are often not completely thawed in typical motsunabe restaurants and have a slightly crunchy texture, were also very delicious here. Unlike many motsunabe restaurants that cater to large banquets, Bentendo offers seating that is suitable for 2 to 4 people without feeling awkward. They also have private rooms. The location is convenient, close to the station, and the exterior has a strong presence, creating a very pleasant atmosphere.

In front of Hakata Station is a highly competitive area where ramen shops dominate during the day and motsunabe (offal hot pot) restaurants take over at night. There are two ramen shops nearby, with Tenka Ippin in front. For motsunabe, there's Maeda-ya and Rakuten-chi. This place is a hybrid of a ramen shop and a motsunabe restaurant in the heart of a competitive district. The ramen here is really delicious. It's so good that you might even think having ramen for dinner is fine. However, the motsunabe at night is also incredibly tasty. This review focuses on the lunch ramen, so details about the motsunabe will be provided later.

Newly opened #Menya Bentendo Headquarters {Hakata Station, Hakata-ku, Fukuoka City} I visited Menya Bentendo Headquarters on July 3, 2022 (Sunday). It is a 5-minute walk from Hakata Station Hakata Exit. This place used to be a ramen shop called "Tagumi". The chain has outlets in Aeon Malls in Chikushino, Hamamatsu, Kofu, and Gunma. Looking at the menu, tonkotsu ramen is the main dish. The basic tonkotsu ramen is priced at ¥690 (tax included). I ordered the yakimeshi set for ¥900 (tax included). On the table, there were sesame seeds, spicy miso, and pickled ginger. I wondered what pickled ginger was, and when I opened it, it turned out to be white ginger. The yakimeshi set arrived, with the ramen and fried rice served almost simultaneously. The fried rice was beautifully dome-shaped, with just the right amount of salt and umami, very delicious. The tonkotsu ramen had green onions, wood ear mushrooms, and a large piece of chashu. I added sesame seeds and white ginger, and I was ready to eat. The soup was slightly thick and rich, with a deep flavor that was incredibly delicious. The thin noodles were perfectly firm, providing a satisfying texture. I used it for lunch. They also have dinner. The seat with a view of the courtyard was lovely. Reservations are essential if you want to go for sure. I don't think it was listed on Hot Pepper. Let's call them. The atmosphere and the taste of the food are great! It has a friendly old-fashioned feel, and although it may seem expensive at first glance, the lunch prices are quite reasonable. There is a wide variety of dishes, and you can enjoy delicious Japanese cuisine. If someone chooses this place for a lunch date, I would think they have good taste. Haha I haven't been there at night yet, so I don't know, but I think it should be fine.

I arrived at this restaurant in Hakata with little time for lunch, but I wanted to eat ramen since I was in Hakata. I entered around 11:45 and ordered the Takana ramen. I prefer my pasta and ramen on the softer side, so I asked for it to be cooked normally. The two people in front of me ordered Char Siu ramen and Nitamago ramen with extra firm noodles, and also ordered beer and gyoza despite saying they were short on time. The tonkotsu soup was delicious as expected. It was much tastier than Hakata ramen in Tokyo. Despite that, the service was quick and we made it to our next appointment at 12:15. It was a friendly restaurant experience.
