神無月サスケ
This is a shop located in the arcade of Higashimachi shopping street in Iizuka. While many other shops in the shopping street are open only during the day, this shop is currently open only at night. It has been catching my attention for a while now, as I have seen its flyers in the shopping street's flyer stand. On Friday and Saturday nights, you can see that it is quite popular, especially among young people and women. This shop used to be a Korean restaurant, but the owners returned to Busan and closed it. The space was quite large, perhaps too large for a Korean restaurant. The current shop seems to be utilizing this space well for group gatherings and parties. Although I found it a bit too fancy for my taste, I decided to visit alone and was seated at the counter. It was a Saturday night, and there were several customers, some even sitting on the terrace outside. There were regulars chatting with the staff, indicating that the shop is already gaining loyal customers. The shop promotes itself as a bar, offering a good selection of wines and cocktails. I ordered a glass of white and red wine from the daily recommendations along with some dishes. The menu includes a variety of tapas-like dishes such as garlic shrimp and pizza, as well as skewers and teppanyaki dishes, catering to a wide range of preferences. The shop particularly recommends sashimi, with one of the daily specials featuring the types of sashimi available that day. I ordered a sashimi platter with salmon, sea bream, and another fish for ¥900. The freshness of the sashimi was impressive, and I realized that ordering sashimi is the best way to enjoy this shop. I also ordered a garlic shrimp dish for ¥990, which was beautifully presented and enjoyable. The garlic sauce did not have a strong anchovy odor, making it appealing even to those who dislike it. I then asked for a rice dish recommendation and was suggested the tomato risotto for ¥720, which turned out to be the most popular rice dish at the shop. It had a unique flavor with tomatoes and powdered cheese, resembling a risotto version of spaghetti Napolitan. The dish was rich and flavorful, with various mushrooms adding to the texture. It was quite a generous portion for one person, so it would be better to share it with others. Overall, the atmosphere on a Saturday night was lively, with people chatting and laughing at the tables, creating a great ambiance. It's refreshing to see a shop like this thriving among the many traditional izakayas in the area.
