Located just a 2-minute walk west of Exit 2 of the Tanimachi 9-chome Station on the Osaka Metro Tanimachi Line and Sennichimae Line, "Junk Story Honten" in Osaka's Chuo Ward is a popular spot with a bright and clean interior. The menu features four items: "Shio no Kirameki Hamaguri ver" (990 yen tax included), "Shio no Genten" (950 yen tax included), "Nama Shoyu Soba" (930 yen tax included), and "Shio Tsukemen" (1280 yen tax included), with various toppings available. I tried the "Shio no Kirameki Hamaguri ver" (990 yen tax included) with a seasoned egg topping (100 yen), bringing the total to 1090 yen. The dish arrived in about 5 minutes, with toppings including chicken chashu (two types: "Momo" and "Mune"), daikon radish, garland chrysanthemum, green onions, and small red plum chips. The chicken chashu, which comes in both light and moist varieties, pairs well with the soup, which has a unique richness and color gradient. The soup, a chicken and seafood salt broth, features a balance of chicken and salt flavors with hints of dried fish, complemented by refreshing plum chips and yuzu, as well as accents from the garland chrysanthemum and green onions. Salt Gentei's Mentai Large Serving (Extra Soup) with Ajitama. It was my first visit and I was torn between choosing the Salt Gentei or the Kirameki Mentai versions. The staff explained that "Salt Gentei is a recreation of the original Kirameki salt from the establishment's early days." The background music playing was by Mr. Children, creating a comfortable atmosphere. I decided to start with Gentei and then try Kirameki next time. The dish arrived with chicken chashu on top, followed by the soup and then the noodles. I followed their recommended way of eating, starting with the chicken chashu. It was indeed delicious, with a savory and moist texture. Next was the soup, hot and flavorful, with a balance of rich chicken-based umami and a refreshing saltiness from the seafood. I was satisfied with the deliciousness. Lastly, the noodles were the most surprising - smooth and firm, with a good chewiness that carried the soup well. Ordering the large serving of homemade noodles was the right choice! I also recommend the Ajitama, with its rich umami flavor and the sweetness of the egg yolk complementing the soup. As I continued eating, the depth of the soup's flavor increased. It's no wonder this place has been consistently selected as a top restaurant. I might try the Kirameki Mentai next time, or maybe the tsukemen, as they also looked delicious. I'm sure I'll have a tough decision again!

I rarely come to this area, but I searched for a place for lunch after work and found this ramen shop. I tried the "Salt Genmai" which reproduces the original "sparkle of salt" from the time of establishment. It was only 950 yen, a great deal. I need to find work nearby again...

The W soup was delicious, but it was not the clear and refined umami-rich soup commonly found in salt ramen. Instead, it had a strong punch from the clash of different flavors, and I ended up drinking a lot of water. I didn't think the clams were necessary... Next time, I will try a pure salt ramen.

I ordered the Hamaguri Ver salt ramen for the first time visiting the restaurant. There were instructions on how to eat it in the store, recommending to start with the chashu, then the soup, and finally the noodles. The noodles were smooth and chewy, very delicious. Personally, I found the chicken chashu to be unique and tasty, with two slices of each kind included. The seared chashu, in particular, was very delicious.

I tried the Salt Sparkle Reissue Edition salt ramen. Personally, I found the soup broth to be incredibly delicious, so much so that I would definitely go back to have it again. The pork chashu can be enjoyed slightly rare if eaten immediately after being served. The restaurant interior was also comfortable and pleasant. I highly recommend going there to try it out.

Today's second stop is "Junk Story Honten" in Tanimachi Kyuchome, my second visit here. It's my first visit since they became part of "UNCHI Corporation". I came here with the aim of trying their "hiyashi" (cold noodles). The BGM in the restaurant is Mr. Children. Here comes the dish. It also comes with a serving of rice, which is a nice bonus. Let's start with the soup. The salt base with yuzu flavor is prominent, and it seems to have chicken and seafood in it. The noodles are smooth and chewy medium-thick straight noodles. The toppings include chashu, seasoned egg, chopped green onions, seaweed, and yuzu zest. The chashu is made from chicken thigh and breast. Lastly, pour the remaining soup over the rice. Itadakimasu!

I visited a cold ramen restaurant in Osaka on a Saturday right after it opened, but there was no line! There were also empty seats available! Is it easy to get into popular ramen shops in Osaka? The taste is refreshing and elegant. The rice is like cold ochazuke, so please try it with the soup poured over. Yes, it's like cold ochazuke. Next time, I want to try the salt tsukemen too!

Every time I passed by this store, I was curious. It always seemed closed because I was always there late. But today, it was open. I immediately ordered the recommended "Kirameki" salt ramen. The rich salt flavor and clam broth spread gently in my mouth. The noodles also mix well with the soup, allowing you to enjoy both together. The soft and fluffy chashu pork is also delicious. The shimmer of salt, Hamaguri ver 990 yen - Situation - I arrived at the restaurant on Monday around 20:20. Unfortunately, I had to wait for about 10 minutes, but as soon as I entered, my dish arrived. - Couple Points - If you order two dishes, sharing is possible. - Taste, etc. - The clam-flavored bowl has arrived!!! For some reason, it brings a sense of nostalgia, like an old man's gesture!! I enjoyed the chewy noodles, and the chicken chashu with yuzu pepper was delicious. The hint of plum added a nice touch. This is my first visit to Junk Story Honten since the change of ownership. I arrived at 2:40 PM and parked at a coin parking lot behind the shop. As it was close to closing time, I entered the shop right away. Inside, music by Mr. Children was playing and there were autographed photos of celebrities on the walls. I ordered the Shio no Kirameki Hamaguri ramen for 990 yen and the Tokusei All-Mense 300 yen. The soup had a good clam flavor with a slightly strong saltiness, and the two types of chicken chashu were tender and delicious. The seasoned egg was well-flavored throughout. The salt ramen had a slightly stronger and well-seasoned taste than I expected. I finished the soup because it was so delicious!

The owner passed away in a traffic accident two years ago, and this is my first visit since the renovation. The interior of the shop is still quite small, but it feels more spacious with the new decor. The specialty of the shop, salt ramen, remains the same, so I ordered the newly renovated "salt excitement" ramen. The noodles are thin and straight, with a high water content that makes them chewy. The toppings include three types of chicken thigh chashu and rare chicken chashu, different from before. The seasoned egg, green onion, and kaiware are beautifully arranged, adding a colorful touch. The soup is a light salt base with a hint of seafood umami (clams). The thin straight noodles have a firm and satisfying texture. The flavor has been enhanced compared to before, and I hope they will add more variety to the menu.

This is my third visit after a long time. The shop has been renovated and the air conditioning was working well, making it comfortable. The salt Kirameki ramen with clam broth had a stronger clam flavor compared to when I last had it, and it was delicious! It is always the best or second best salt ramen I have ever had! The noodles are also delicious, and the balance with the soup is excellent, making it an outstanding salt ramen.

Salt Ramen at "Junk Story Main Branch" for 950 yen, with an additional seasoned egg for 100 yen. It's been a while since I had Osaka ramen, and this time I visited "Junk Story Main Branch". The founder passed away in an accident in August 2022, leading to bankruptcy and temporary closure. However, in March 2023, the restaurant was reopened by "UNCHI Corporation", known for "People are Noodles" and other noodle shops. When I arrived on a weekday before 8 pm, there were 5 people waiting ahead of me. It seems quite popular. After a short wait, a staff member came out to confirm our order. I ordered the "Salt Ramen" with a seasoned egg, which is said to replicate the original taste from when the shop first opened. After about 15 minutes of waiting, we were seated and served in 10 minutes. Let's dig in! - Soup: The soup has a rich chicken broth base with plenty of umami from seafood. The aroma of the oil is pleasant and smooth, and the saltiness is just right. Overall, the balance is excellent, making it a very enjoyable salt soup. - Noodles: The medium-thick noodles have a slightly higher water content. They are pleasantly chewy and have a great texture that goes well with the salt soup. - Toppings: The chicken breast is moist and flavorful, but it didn't quite meet the high expectations set by the restaurant. The chicken thigh has a firm and juicy texture, and I found it tastier than the chicken breast. The seasoned egg yolk has a nice jelly-like consistency, with a sauce that reminds me of barbecue sauce. It made me crave for a bowl of rice. Overall, the salt ramen at "Junk Story Main Branch" was well-balanced, allowing the umami of the broth to shine through. Ramen-style JUNK STORY @ Tanimachi Kyuchome / Salt Tsukemen After finishing work for the day, I headed to JUNK for dinner. I had heard that they had recently started serving tsukemen, so I was eager to try it out. The uphill walk from Shimo-tera-machi to Tani Kyu was tough on my exhausted body (laughs). I arrived at the restaurant around 9 pm, as I had a late shift that day. There was no line outside, and the inside of the restaurant was also empty. It was nice to be able to get my food quickly. I sat down at a vacant table and ordered the large serving of salt tsukemen, which I had already decided on. After a short wait, the tsukemen was served. It had the same old familiar look, but this time there was something black on top of the noodles. I wondered what it was, and it turned out to be salt. First, I tried the dipping sauce. It was a combination of chicken, seafood, and clams, with the bitter taste of the clams followed by the umami of the chicken. At first, I was impressed, but the saltiness was still too strong, just like with their ramen. However, the clam flavor seemed to linger longer compared to their ramen. The thin noodles were smooth and nice, but I thought it would be better if the salt was provided on the side rather than already sprinkled on the noodles. The chicken chashu was as good as ever. After trying both their ramen and tsukemen, I realized that the taste of JUNK that I knew could only be produced by the founder, Mr. Igawa, and the current taste was indeed different. While it was still delicious, I couldn't help but think that they might be better off operating under a different name rather than sticking to the JUNK brand. It made me realize that the taste was not just a figment of my memory, but indeed different from before.

It was just past 12 noon on a regular day, but the restaurant was empty, so I could order and eat right away. The char siu was chicken, but it was tender and light, which was nice. I had the "Shio no Kirameki" with clam, and the soup had a good balance of richness and lightness that paired well with the noodles.

The soup had a strong seafood flavor and was delicious! The noodles were smooth and paired well with the soup. The chicken chashu had a chewy texture and was very tasty. The topping of chicken coro coro chashu had a fragrant aroma, juicy fat, and great taste. It was a satisfying bowl of ramen. Thank you for the meal!

Continuing from yesterday, today I also had back-to-back meals. Yesterday and today, I visited the fourth out of 100 famous shops... It was just past 12 pm on a weekday, and there was only one customer ahead of me, so I was able to sit down easily and ordered the Shio no Kirameki ramen. The staff told me that it was the best time to eat the chicken chashu as soon as it was served, so I immediately tried both types, and they were delicious! The most tender and flavorful chicken chashu I've ever had. Next, I tried the soup, which had a subtle flavor of chicken and bonito flakes. The slightly flat noodles and perfectly seasoned broth made it easy to finish quickly. The soup seemed to gradually develop more richness as I ate... After finishing two shops in a row, I realized I had consumed too much salt and gained weight, so today I aim to walk 20,000 steps...

They are smooth with good firmness and a satisfying texture. The soup has a nice blend with the noodles, and the combination is perfect. The soup, made from whole chicken and chicken bones with added seafood, has a deep flavor enhanced by the richness of chicken oil. It's a gentle soup that you could keep drinking endlessly. The thigh chashu has a meaty texture and a savory, charred aroma. The breast chashu is moist and tender, spreading the deliciousness of chicken throughout your mouth. The crunchiness of the green onions and beni shoga adds a nice accent. It was delicious - thank you for the meal!
