This month, I overcame a lot, so next month I don't have many plans and can finally relax. Just one last push! Although I think I will end up getting busy again... After a dinner in Nishinakasu (no photos unfortunately), we headed to Nishijin because someone wanted to eat sushi! Even though we had already eaten a lot, are you still going to eat more? I ordered a green tea highball, while the other two ordered sake (you guys drink a lot of sake, huh? haha). They were having a tuna festival, so we got 4 pieces of tuna sushi and a mixed sushi plate. We played rock-paper-scissors to decide who got to choose their favorite. It was a lot of fun. We spent about an hour here. Thank you for the meal.

I came to Nishijin to find a place for dinner and stumbled upon this restaurant. They have a wide variety of Japanese sake and dishes, with some menu items costing less than 400 yen each, which is very reasonable. The specialty drinkable salmon was delicious with a rich flavor. The steamed eel shumai was served hot and fresh, with a uni sauce that was mixed with dashi soy sauce, creating a perfect combination. The staff was friendly and made the experience enjoyable. I found out that this restaurant is related to an eel restaurant in Hakata, so I would like to visit there next time. I definitely want to go back to this place. **September 16th Update: I visited again recently. It seems like the shumai was sold out this time. I wonder if they will have it next time I visit... it's so delicious, I hope they will start selling it again.**

I use this place occasionally because it's close by! I tried ordering the high-end specialty for the first time, but it was just okay... Maybe it's because of the location, but it's always crowded. It's good for casual use, I guess... I'm not a fan of beer, so I wish they had more variety of bottled beers.

Sushiro Group's sushi izakaya. I knew about its existence before, but this was my first visit. I must apologize, but the reason was that I could use the Happy Hour for a quick drink! However, what was meant to be a quick drink turned into quite a bit of eating and drinking haha. The sushi here is different from Sushiro, so that was enjoyable as well. Thank you for the meal!! For those who can drink alcohol, I recommend trying out the Happy Hour on weekdays! It's a great deal.

I went to Sugidama for lunch for the first time... Having tempura and beer in the afternoon was very enjoyable. The sushi was well-balanced, with just the right amount of rice making it easy to eat. Despite being affordable, the ingredients were fresh and delicious!! I was able to relax and enjoy my meal ( •͈ ᴗ •͈ )

Visited on a weekend afternoon. It seems like mostly students working part-time, so if you overlook the service, it's a very cost-effective spot. During weekday lunchtime or in the evening, you can drink at half price, and since it's part of the Sushiro chain, the drink prices are reasonable even during regular hours in Fukuoka. The sushi toppings are larger and not oddly square cut like at conveyor belt sushi places. They also have a wide variety of side dishes to go with your drinks. This time I only ordered a lunch set, but next time I want to order some side dishes and finish off with sushi.

My wife and I came here for the first time after making a reservation for a table at this popular restaurant. We were seated at a table on the second floor, and the interior was very clean and had a sense of freshness. We ordered various dishes such as seafood yukke, uni mayo edamame, Hokusho-style fried chicken, cedar ball potato salad, squid and tomato Genovese, garlic shrimp, daikon radish oden, tempura shirako, Matsumae pickles, ikura with grated daikon, and assorted sushi including tuna sushi. We also had drinks like draft beer, highball, cedar ball pure rice chu-hai, etc. As it is a chain restaurant, there were no disappointments, but the taste was just average. The sushi was at the same level as the parent company Sushiro. The customer base was very young, with no other middle-aged couples like us. The service from the staff was rough and not very attentive, possibly due to catering to a younger crowd. It can take a while for ordered drinks to arrive due to the crowded nature of the restaurant, so please be aware of that. There are many interestingly named menu items, so you won't get bored even after multiple visits. The restaurant is non-smoking.

You can enjoy dishes like salmon sashimi, ikura with grated daikon, Japanese sake, fried potatoes, chicken skin tempura, and salmon sashimi at this place for around 8000 yen for two people. The salmon dishes are delicious, especially the salmon sashimi and grilled salmon. The fried potatoes and chicken skin tempura were average, but overall the food is tasty and affordable. I will definitely come back again!

Sugi Tamako-san and two others stopped by for a quick drink. They started with a toast with beer and then Sugi Tamako-san ordered a green tea highball, which was delicious. When the others decided to have sake, they recommended the "Sugi Tamako Junmai" sake, which was very easy to drink. They also tried a few other types of sake, but the staff didn't seem very knowledgeable about them. The food was very reasonably priced and overall, they had a good experience.

This is my third visit. It's lunchtime. I find this sushi restaurant in Nishijin Shotengai convenient as there are no fancy sushi places around. I ordered the "Hotei" set (14 pieces) for myself and the sushi & tempura set (regular) for my companion. We also ordered a Negitoro roll (4 pieces) which is not shown in the photos. The quality of the fish is decent. The wasabi and the texture of the Negitoro are better than what you would find at a conveyor belt sushi restaurant. The tempura has a delicate crispiness that is delightful. It pairs well with the salted green tea. I noticed that they have a good selection of alcohol on the menu, with reasonably priced lemon sour drinks. It might be nice to have a casual sushi and drinks session here on a lazy afternoon. We were both satisfied with the meal, and the total came to 3,000 yen for the two of us. Thank you for the wonderful meal! We will definitely come back again.

On Sunday afternoon, just the two of us. We arrived around 1:10 pm and sat at the counter. It was our fourth visit. If you fill out the survey on the receipt at checkout, you get a free drink next time. We ordered a small beer each, as it was fine to do so. Everyone was drinking and enjoying sushi on Sunday, and the atmosphere was lively. The sushi and snacks were delicious and very affordable. I will definitely go back again! ❤

The restaurant was really cheap. There were four of us, so we were seated on the second floor which was freezing cold. We asked for the air conditioning to be adjusted, but our requested drinks took a while to arrive. Despite some frustrations, the sashimi was delicious and it was nice to see Tanaka Rokugo's work displayed. We drank a lot, especially since they offer a discount if you keep a shochu bottle for three months. This might be the best cost-effective restaurant in Nishijin.

The lunch menu at this restaurant offers great value for money. The "Sugitama Gozen" set is particularly good, with a selection of dishes that pair well with alcohol. The menu includes options like the Sugitama Gozen for 1,280 yen, the Boat Sashimi Bowl for 990 yen, a premium malt beer for 438 yen, and a half-size Sugitama sake for 329 yen. The set includes sashimi and sushi, making it perfect for seafood lovers. The tempura is crispy and satisfying, and the small dishes are perfect for pairing with drinks. On this visit, my husband ordered the Boat Sashimi Bowl, which was visually impressive with a generous amount of negitoro. This dish is recommended for those looking to enjoy a hearty seafood bowl. After a satisfying meal, we were ready for our afternoon plans.

After enjoying a delicious vegetable biryani, I decided to stop by Sugidama for a drink. Even though I was already full, I ordered a sashimi platter and potato fries. I toasted with a draft beer and lemon shochu highball. The alcohol was starting to hit me! When I tried to order potato fries, they were unexpectedly sold out, so I asked for Hidaka-mi from Miyagi, Ishinomaki instead. Interestingly, most Kyushu people pronounce it as "Hidakami" instead of "Hitakami." The menu had a phrase saying "Nothing beats sushi," but we decided not to eat sushi at a sushi restaurant for some reason. We quickly paid the bill and left. Thank you for the meal!

"Sushi Sake Sakana Sugitama" in Nishijin, Sawara-ku, Fukuoka City. "Sushishikatan." A sushi restaurant Sugitama located in Nishijin shopping street. It is a chain with over 30 stores nationwide. You can enjoy delicious sushi at a very reasonable price. The original company is the one that operates Sushiro nationwide. This is their new format of restaurant. Not a conveyor belt Sushiro? No, it's a proper sushi restaurant where chefs make the sushi. And it's reasonably priced. The sushi is more delicious than the price suggests. They also have alcohol and side dishes. It's a great place to stop by for a quick meal. We had the nigiri "Bishamon" 14 pieces for 1,390 yen and a tempura assortment for 329 yen. We were very satisfied. Thank you for the meal. For beautiful photos and videos, please search on Instagram k.t.r.from_fukuoka."

I missed lunch and ended up wandering around the Nishi-shin shopping street at an odd time. I discovered a new restaurant with a nice atmosphere inside that I couldn't have imagined from the outside. Later I found out it's actually part of the Sushiro group. The dishes are mostly priced at 329 yen, making sushi affordable for the public despite the upscale ambiance inside the restaurant. Here's what I ordered: - Assorted sashimi plate x2 - Seared foie gras with ponzu sauce - Engawa (fluke fin) changja - Sand lance tempura - Horse mackerel fry - Premium selection (otoro, tuna, salmon, yellowtail, shrimp, squid, whelk, sardine) - Highball - Green tea highball - Sugi-tama (hot sake) x2 I originally planned to have lunch, but since they serve alcohol, I decided to start with drinks instead. The food arrived quickly after ordering, and the seared foie gras with ponzu sauce was delicious. The engawa changja was also enjoyable, with each piece being quite large and satisfying. The tempura and fried items were crispy and delicious, perfect with sake. The Sugi-tama sake was easy to drink and complemented the food well. I had to stop myself from drinking too much since I had other plans, but overall, the sashimi and sushi were fresh and generous in portion. Sugi-tama seems to be expanding its presence in Fukuoka, and I'm impressed by the combination of quality food and drinks at this restaurant.

I came to Sugidama in Nishiarai for the first time in a while and participated in the plum course with all-you-can-drink. It's a great banquet course that combines popular dishes such as sashimi, tempura, sushi, shumai, salad, etc. Everyone can enjoy it together, making it perfect for a casual drinking party. It's a happy course where you can eat sushi and tempura. We also had edamame, sashimi platter, thick and delicious tempura, sushi, dessert, and we were very satisfied. Thank you for the delicious meal.

It is more expensive than conveyor belt sushi but cheaper than a sushi restaurant. They offer lunch as well, so I decided to visit for the first time. I ordered a salmon and ikura (salmon roe) parent and child bowl. I was recommended to change the lunch miso soup to clam soup for a little extra cost, so I did. The clam soup was extremely salty to the point where it brought tears to my eyes. Even though I usually eat everything as a sign of gratitude, the saltiness was unbearable. The seafood bowl was average. The ikura was quite small, probably using masago instead. Considering the price, it was acceptable. I hope it was just an unlucky day and not the usual quality of the restaurant!

There was no sea urchin! But well, considering it's my first time at this restaurant, maybe sea urchin is a challenger here. The prices at this sushi izakaya are reasonable. Overall, the flavors are on the salty side. Once alcohol is allowed again, it might be nice to have a drink with some foie gras.

It was so hot that just moving during the day made me sweat. I wandered around the streets of Nishijin in search of a cold beer, and ended up slipping into the daytime-operating "Sushi Sake Sakana Sugitama Nishijin" restaurant. This place is a sushi izakaya affiliated with the Sushiro chain, which has recently expanded to Hakata and Ropponmatsu in Fukuoka city. The menu starts at 299 yen, so it's quite affordable. I ordered the campaign-priced Mega Highball first, along with a set of 3 pieces of tuna (maguro) and a special dish with tuna topped with salmon roe. Still feeling a bit hungry, I added a crab croquette. Since it was getting late, I decided to stop there and show some self-restraint. The menu is cheap, they have a good selection of sake, and the atmosphere seems casual and welcoming. It was a satisfying meal.
