I visited Sushi Sakananoshippo in Kasuya District, Fukuoka Prefecture. It was the first day of my three-day weekend, and I had a meal at Sushi Yasukouchi in Higashi Ward, where I had a conversation with Mr. Hattori, who mentioned that Yasukouchi has a new store in Aijima, Shingu Town. I expressed my interest in visiting, and Mr. Hattori immediately called the store manager, Mr. Kinoshita, to make a reservation for me two days later. Aijima is a lesser-known island in Fukuoka, famous for its abundance of cats.
On the day of the reservation, I set off for Aijima, taking the municipal ferry "Shingu" from Shingu Port to Aijima Port, which took 17 minutes. The restaurant is located about a 3-minute walk from the port, housed in a renovated single-family home. Upon entering, I felt a mix of a restaurant and a homey atmosphere, which was comforting and familiar.
The menu was a complete reservation system until two days before, offering a sushi course for 6,000 yen, 8,000 yen, and 10,000 yen, as well as sushi kaiseki courses for 10,000 yen, 12,000 yen, and 15,000 yen. I opted for the 10,000 yen sushi kaiseki course. The meal included various delicacies such as aged abalone, sea urchin, blackthroat seaperch, horse mackerel, and more, all sourced from Aijima or the Genkai Sea. The sushi was served with a touch of vinegar, enhancing the flavors of the fresh ingredients.
After a two-hour stay, I left feeling satisfied and wanting to return for a longer visit. The restaurant's plan to offer accommodation in the future sounds promising, and I look forward to experiencing more of Sakananoshippo in Aijima. I will definitely visit again! Thank you for the delicious meal.
