I'm not good with the touch panel ordering system that has become common lately in food and beverage establishments. I try to avoid such places as much as possible because they are introduced in restaurants to save on labor costs and due to a shortage of staff. On Sunday, I felt like eating sushi, so I called a nearby conveyor belt sushi restaurant to confirm if they had set meals. They had two options, so I decided to go there. It's in Oosano, Dazaifu City, Fukuoka Prefecture. There are 5 competing conveyor belt sushi restaurants within a 2-kilometer radius. When I entered the restaurant, there were many families and couples eager to eat sushi. I sat at the counter and called a young female staff member to order the set meal verbally since I couldn't use the touch panel. She operated it for me. The set meal I ordered was the Summer Platinum Set for 1090 yen including tax and Seafood Chawanmushi for 194 yen including tax. In this restaurant, the sushi doesn't go around on a conveyor belt. Once you order, it is brought to you on a lane system. The sushi plates arrived quickly. There were 9 pieces of sushi on the plate - raw shrimp, amberjack, seared tuna, sea bream, abalone, steamed shrimp, scallop, salmon, and eel. They were bite-sized with plenty of rice. The size of the toppings was decent for the price. The freshness was average. What surprised me was that there was no wasabi on the sushi, so I had to apply it myself. The scallop was thick and the eel was also generous, but you could tell it was from China. I'm used to eating Chinese products, so it was fine for me. The Seafood Chawanmushi had two smaller scallops, even smaller baby scallops, and four tiny shrimp. There were shiitake mushrooms and kamaboko, but no ginkgo nuts, which was understandable given the price. The individual menu items like horse mackerel and sardines looked delicious, but I need to learn how to use the touch panel soon. It's a convenient place because you can eat at a reasonable price. I have to thank the staff, especially the kind woman who smiled and told me to come again on my way out. I find a charming smile from a lovely woman appealing, but the atmosphere makes me feel like I have to eat quickly, which is a bit uncomfortable.
