June 18, 2022 (Sat) First visit to "bit better," a hamburger and coffee specialty shop where you can enjoy the seasonal views of Maruyama and Miyanomori. I had bookmarked this place a few years ago when passing by the area and finally decided to visit for lunch during my trip to Hokkaido. Located just a short walk from Hokkaido Shrine's Reiwa Torii to the west parking lot, right off North 1st Street and Miyanosawa Street, it is conveniently situated for visits to Maruyama Park or Hokkaido Shrine. I called on the day to make a reservation, but the response was vague about the exact time, suggesting around 1:30 pm. Despite feeling a bit uneasy, I went ahead and made the reservation. Arriving a little before 1:30 pm, the private parking lot (2 spaces) was full, so I parked at the Hokkaido Shrine's parking lot. "bit better" is known for its hamburgers made with Towa Lake Wagyu and Hokkaido Whey-fed pork, served in Igayaki pottery, and is recommended for a "slightly special day." Upon arriving at the restaurant before 1:30 pm, it was fully booked, so I had to wait outside for about 15 minutes. Once seated, I found myself at a table closest to the entrance, which didn't feel very cozy, and the lack of air conditioning around the table made it quite stuffy. The hamburger menu offers six options, and I chose the following two that caught my eye: - Hokkaido Wasabi and Perilla Japanese-style Dashi Sauce Hamburger Lunch: 1,780 yen - Hokkaido-style Sauce Hamburger with grated apple, myoga, and scallions: 1,690 yen Initially, the menu prices seemed a bit high for a suburban Sapporo location, but considering that each set includes a 180g hamburger, salad, mini soup, rice, and a drink, it felt reasonable. The first dish served was a salad with 10 different types of vegetables listed on the blackboard in the restaurant, making it a visually appealing plate. The soup, made with white dashi and kelp tea, had a delicate flavor that was very soothing. After waiting for more than 30 minutes, the main dish finally arrived, served with the restaurant's specialty rice (a blend of low-pesticide Nanatsuboshi rice and 32 types of grains). The timing of the main dish felt quite late for a lunch service. The owner, who seemed to be the only one working, was bustling around the restaurant, struggling to keep up with the full house. Due to the long wait, the taste of the hamburger, while good, felt somewhat ordinary and didn't quite live up to the specialness I had anticipated. Before finishing the meal, the owner accidentally bumped his arm on the acrylic board for COVID-19 prevention, causing a glass of water on the table to spill. While it was quickly cleaned up, it created a somewhat awkward atmosphere. The acrylic board, which I assumed wouldn't be returned, was wiped and placed back after a while. Despite the neighboring table being vacant and the lunch service being over, it was returned to my table again. The post-meal drink was then served, and I chose the Pear & Grapefruit Juice, but the lingering impression of the previous accident made it hard to fully enjoy the drink. The overall slow service and unexpected delays during lunch made me feel like I made a mistake in choosing this restaurant. There was no apology or acknowledgment of the inconvenience upon leaving. I hope they can improve their customer service in the future. Thank you for the meal.

Located along the north 1st street near Hokkaido Shrine in the Miyanosawa area, this hamburger restaurant has been featured in a magazine and caught my attention. My wife and I decided to visit for lunch. There is a dedicated parking space, but it was full, so we used the nearby Hokkaido Shrine parking lot (which offers a discount at checkout). The restaurant has a stylish atmosphere, resembling a bar, with a long counter and small table seats. I initially thought they would cook the hamburgers in front of us like a teppanyaki restaurant, but the kitchen is separate and the dishes were brought to us when ready. There are about six hamburger options for lunch, all looking delicious in the menu photos. I ordered the "Hokkaido Gouda, Mozzarella, and Red Cheddar Cheese Sauce (1,890 yen)" set. Lunch came with a salad, mini soup, healthy rice, and a drink. After being served salad and soup like a course meal, the hamburger arrived. The texture of the hamburger is slightly firm, allowing you to taste the meat, which I found delicious. The cheese sauce on top is quite rich, overpowering the meat's flavor in my opinion, but my wife's choice of a lighter sauce brought out the meat's flavor nicely. The hamburger weighs 180g, a bit small for me, but the good atmosphere and attentive service made up for it. I think it's a good choice for hamburger lovers.

I used it for lunch on a regular day. I had been wanting to go there for a while, but I passed because the parking was inconvenient. The restaurant only had a counter, but it was a comfortable place. There were several types of hamburgers, and I chose the classic cheese hamburger. The soup made with kelp tea that was served before that was delicious. The cheese hamburger exceeded my expectations, with a Japanese-style sauce melted with several types of cheese. It was delicious. They are also known for their desserts and coffee. It is a restaurant with a strong commitment from the owner, and I had a pleasant time. Thank you for the meal.

I ordered the stylish hamburger set at a fashionable hamburger restaurant♪ It came with a fragrant yuzu ginger and wasabi greens sauce. The hamburger was juicy yet elegant. The set also included brown rice, soup, salad, and a drink. The weather was nice, so I ended up staying longer than planned! It was really delicious~!

After work, I wanted to stop by a cafe on the way home, so I visited the cafe "bit better" that I had been checking out for a while. The parking lot is small with only space for 2 cars, so it might be better to make a reservation to ensure a spot. Inside the cafe, there were several plants decorating the space, giving a sense of attention to detail in the atmosphere. Additionally, when seated, the view outside included greenery from the trees, showing a calculated attention to both the interior and exterior design. The menu mainly consists of Hamburger Dinners, Baked Goods, Sweets, Coffee, and (currently not available) alcohol. Below are the items I ordered: - Hot Coffee "Forest Breeze" ¥550: Made with beans carefully roasted at "Infini Coffee" in Minami Ward. Served in a charming ceramic cup, the coffee was a delightful experience both visually and in taste. It had a mild acidity which I enjoyed. - Hamburger Set "Tartar Sauce with Simmered Radish and Plenty of Eggs" ¥1750: The set included a salad, rice, and the main dish, the hamburger. It felt like a high-quality dinner course you would find at a hotel restaurant for the price. The rice included 32 varieties of grains, providing a rich and fragrant taste unique to mixed grain rice. The hamburger was made with ground meat from Tokachi Lake Wagyu and Hokkaido Whey Pork, giving it a rich meaty flavor as advertised. The coarsely ground texture provided a good chew, and the juicy fat made it delicious. The combination of vinegar and tartar sauce added a perfect sweet and savory taste. - Kinako Mochi and Black Honey Milk Ice Cream: The menu item turned out to be more voluminous than expected. It included milk ice cream, kinako mochi, mini dorayaki, monaka, and a variety of other treats in a cup resembling a parfait. Breaking the monaka and mixing it with the ice cream was a delightful experience. I casually dropped by after work this time, but I regret not choosing this place for a date. Thank you for the meal! I'm looking forward to trying their cocktails once they start serving alcohol.

Visited a shop that had caught my eye in front of Hokkaido Shrine. Made a reservation for 12 o'clock and luckily found a parking spot in the lot below the shop. Upon entering, I was greeted by lovely background music and interior decor! Looking at the menu, I was torn between the delicious-looking hamburgs on offer! I ordered the "Moro Miso Tomato Demi 3 Cheese" and the "Shiba-zuke Tartar Teriyaki Sauce" hamburgs! First up was a mini salad! The quality of this mini salad was unbelievable! Locally sourced vegetables with French dressing! After the delicious salad that brought to mind the snowy landscapes of Hokkaido, I was served a kelp soup! This was also delicious!! The gentle flavors of the ingredients were irresistible! And then came the main dish, the hamburg! The visual contrast of the sauce was beautiful! The taste was gentle and fluffy! Even the rice on the side was carefully prepared to complement the deliciousness of the ingredients! I was very satisfied with the flavors that highlighted the goodness of the ingredients! I was looking forward to the coffee after the meal as well! Just then, I was informed that today's dessert options were Gateau Chocolat and Salted Cheese Cake. Intrigued, I ordered both! First came the coffee! I ordered "Forest Breeze" and "Mild". Forest Breeze had a woody aroma as if the coffee beans were roasted in the middle of a forest! Mild had a luxurious feel with a deep flavor of the beans! And then the dessert of the day arrived! Since the cheese cake was rich, I was advised to take small bites... I took a thin slice and tried it. It was exquisite!! The cheese was incredibly rich! I have tried various cheese cakes before, but in terms of richness in just one bite, this one ranks No.1!! The Gateau Chocolat also paired well with the coffee! The salad, hamburg, rice, coffee, separately ordered dessert, all of them were delightful dishes that showcased the shop owner's dedication. It was a wonderful restaurant perfect for a sophisticated adult date!

On a certain holiday in Hokkaido, at a time when things seemed a little worrying again, the lunch that I had always wanted to try became a reality today in Chuo-ku, Miyanomori 1-jo. The restaurant is located on the second floor of a building, accessible by stairs, and has an interesting layout with a counter where alcohol is served and tables that double as seating. The interior is not very spacious, but it has a cool vibe with stylish Western music playing in the background. For lunch that day, I chose the "Tender Hamburg Steak with Creamy Brown Rice Vinegar, Pickled Shallots, and Plenty of Egg Tartar Sauce (1690 yen)" set, with an Iced Earl Grey Tea as my drink. The light and cool green tea was refreshing as I had been walking before coming to the restaurant. The meal started with a salad featuring fresh vegetables like white cabbage, finely shredded purple and yellow carrots, romanesco, white turnip, green and purple daikon slices, and red and yellow cherry tomatoes, all dressed in a creamy and tangy French dressing. A hot plate arrived with the main dish, and upon taking the first bite, I was impressed by the blend of tender Lake Toya Wagyu beef and Hokkaido whey-fed pork in the hamburger patty. The beef flavor stood out to me, and the patty was not greasy, which I appreciated. The sweet and sour brown rice vinegar sauce and the tartar sauce complemented the hamburger surprisingly well. Additionally, the finely chopped pickled shallots added a nice touch. The accompaniments like seared lotus root, red bell pepper, and a variety of potatoes were also delicious. The mixed grain rice had a great texture and was accompanied by stir-fried greens that added a nice contrast. The meal ended on a high note with a sophisticated Earl Grey tea garnished with mint leaves. The restaurant's creative approach of combining brown rice vinegar, tartar sauce, and pickled shallots with the hamburger was truly impressive. It was a delightful dining experience. Thank you for the meal.

On the day of the summer solstice, I happened to visit a very lovely restaurant♡ It was a place I was taken to by chance before climbing Mt. Maruyama, and the view of greenery from the counter seat was just so wonderful! The menu was also delightful, with dishes like grain rice and secret lamb chops that made my heart dance! I chose the signature hamburger set. The salad was beautifully presented on an emerald blue plate... so lovely. The main hamburger was, of course, very delicious! The iced cafe latte after the meal was also delicious, with a lot of attention to detail... After the hike, I bought some coffee to take with me, and they even wrapped the bottle carefully for me... The owner's care and thoughtfulness could be felt throughout the restaurant, and I was left with such a wonderful memory. Thank you for the enchanting experience! ^_^♡

I had been curious about this place every time I passed by. I remember going there decades ago, and I think it was a cafe that had chocolates. Now they serve hamburgers?!?! I'm intrigued and decided to visit. The parking lot is located below the shop in a vertical line, so if you park in the front, you may need to move your car during your meal. Inside the shop, there is a counter facing the window. You can see cars coming from the zoo or the stadium driving towards this direction. The salad is displayed on a blackboard inside the shop. It includes leaf lettuce, chicory, white turnip, purple carrot, red bell pepper, baby leaf, cherry tomato, red shiso, romanesco, and other high-quality vegetables. I didn't pay much attention to the dressing, so I assume the focus is on enjoying the vegetables themselves. They also have a special rice blend from Tobetsu with reduced pesticides and 32 types of mixed grains. Most of the menu items are paired with hamburgers. I ordered the special mushroom and fresh tomato white cream sauce hamburger for 1890 yen. It was my first time trying a white cream hamburger, and it was delicious. The cream and mushrooms paired perfectly, and the hamburger had a chunky texture with a strong meaty flavor. The roasted vegetables on the side were fragrant. I was served a "cabbage soup," which was actually a "cabbage and pumpkin potage" as written on the blackboard. It was incredibly tasty! The cabbage's umami flavor and the pumpkin's creaminess were delightful. I would love to replicate this dish. I also tried the Japanese-style dashi sauce hamburger with Hokkaido wasabi and purple shiso for 1750 yen. The dashi sauce had a strong Japanese flavor, and it was great poured over the hamburger or mixed with rice like ochazuke. The dashi was incredibly flavorful, and I enjoyed it with the meat juices. The salad and soup were made with high-quality vegetables that you can't find in supermarkets. Overall, it was a lunch experience where you can enjoy everything while looking out at the scenery of Maruyama. Although it's a bit pricey for lunch, I appreciate the various specialties of this restaurant and wouldn't mind being enveloped in them once in a while. Thank you for the delicious meal!

I made a reservation and visited the restaurant for lunch! The interior was a bit dim but very stylish, and the owner was a kind and gentle man. I ordered the Cream Pumpkin Quattro Formaggi Hamburger (¥1980) from the menu, which seemed to be a seasonal limited edition. The soup and salad were served first. The soup had a warm and gentle flavor, and it seemed to be made of daikon. It had a similar texture to cream soup but with a distinct daikon taste, which was surprisingly delicious. The salad had a variety of fresh vegetables, including lettuce, paprika, tomato, and romanesco, all of which were crunchy and sweet. The rice was a healthy blend of 32 grains and had a light flavor. The Cream Pumpkin Quattro Formaggi Hamburger looked amazing, with a creamy and cheesy texture. The cream part had a sweetness from the pumpkin, and the cheese complemented the hamburger well. The hamburger was made with a mix of pork and beef, making it easy to eat and tender. The combination of cream, cheese, and hamburger was fantastic. The atmosphere was friendly, with a harmonious atmosphere between the owners and customers. It was a delightful dining experience.

I visited for a late lunch during my usual cafe time. The interior of the restaurant is stylish. There were two customers before me, and I was seated at the counter. The view from the window adds to the elegant atmosphere. I ordered the lunch set which included a hamburger, mini salad, mini soup, rice, and a drink. The lunch set is available until 4 pm, which is quite generous. After much deliberation, I decided on the hamburger with wasabi sauce. The sauce was made with broth. First, the salad was served. It was described as mini, but it was not small, and the vegetables were fresh and delicious. The soup was a creamy white cabbage and daikon potage, with a rich flavor. Then came the hamburger and rice. The rice was locally grown and of high quality. The broth that came with the hamburger was poured over the rice at the end, and the juicy hamburger paired perfectly with the rice. The wasabi on top of the hamburger added a nice kick when mixed with the rice. I had a leisurely time and would like to visit this place again. It seems like a place where you can also enjoy dinner. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

Visited bit better for the first time on June 17, 2019 in Chuo-ku, Sapporo, Hokkaido 1-10-3-23 Hills Lab 2F. There is parking space for one car. The counter seats are bright and open with natural light coming in from the windows, creating a pleasant atmosphere. I had the hamburger, which was delicious, and the salad portion was very generous and tasty. The hamburgers had a Japanese twist to them, and the overall taste was light and enjoyable. I would definitely like to visit this restaurant again. Thank you for the delicious meal.

I went to the hamburger restaurant "bit better" in May. I visited during Golden Week. I ordered the "demi-glace sauce with miso and tomato topped with Hokkaido butter" and it was amazing! The salad of the day arrived, followed by the soup of the day. Then came the main dish of hamburger and 33-grain rice. The salad was delicious and I was curious about the miso, but the hamburger was also delicious! I really want to come back to eat hamburger again.

Actually a repeat customer. This is my second time here. It's a really comfortable space, a happy place. I walked from Nishi 28th Street Station this time, the weather was nice and it was a pleasant walk. The restaurant is on the second floor, with a handwritten sign and a sign for delicious hamburgers as a landmark. The first time I came here was because I was looking for rice porridge at the nearby Shirashika Shokudo, but it was closed. I'm glad I decided to enter this place instead of the sushi restaurant on the first floor! I've only been here for lunch, but the interior has a display of alcohol, so I wonder if it turns into a stylish bar at night? There are two table seats and counter seats. The display of coffee saucer sets is also beautiful, with tasteful decorations and a comfortable atmosphere. Among several options, this time I chose the shiba-zuke tartar sauce and yuzu sparkling drink (last time I had mushroom yuzu pepper white sauce and peach sparkling drink). First, a salad is served. The vegetables all have a nice crunch and appearance, and the explanations of each were enjoyable to listen to. The taste is probably French dressing? Romanesco and snow peas were delightful. They seem to be attentive to my pace, bringing the next soup at a comfortable speed. The soup of the day, carrot and potato soup today. Just like the pumpkin soup last time, it was exquisite, and the demitasse cup it's served in is too cute. I was so curious about this cup that I asked where to get it, and they kindly looked it up and told me. They are really kind people. And then comes the rice. It's cooked carefully, with a mix of grains, I think? Served with sesame dressing on slightly red rice. A black plate is set and now it's time for the hamburger. The hot hamburger, made with Toyo meat! They also provide a spoon for those like me who want to eat every bit of the sauce! Once again, the shiba-zuke tartar sauce is delicious, a combination that is indescribable! It's really delicious! I highly recommend it. The rice goes down so easily, it's scary haha. My chopsticks and spoon just won't stop. Finally, I had a yuzu sparkling drink made, last time I left with this, but this time I got a dessert added thanks to a coupon from Tabelog! The homemade gateau chocolat was moist and delicious, perfect for chatting with girlfriends. It's not the disappointing taste you often get, and to receive this with a coupon made me feel so happy. I made sure to get my stamp card stamped again this time, eager to collect enough for a free set! Thank you for the meal. (It's a perfect score in all aspects, so I rate it 5 ♡)

Recommended lunch for December - a salad with four types of mushrooms and fresh tomato in a Japanese-style white cream dressing, featuring yellow beets as well. The main dish is a hamburger with a sauce infused with the umami of mushrooms, providing a unique taste experience. Located at Hokkaido Jingu in Sapporo, this is a must-try for Sapporo foodies.

I didn't realize there was a shop here, even though I live nearby because it's on the second floor of a building. The parking lot is quite difficult to park in, as only two cars can park vertically, so if you park in the back, you have to avoid it even during meals, which is a bit of a hassle. The hamburger was very delicious. However, it's a bit expensive, so it's not suitable for everyday use. If you're looking for value for money, it would be M Lamp or N Conchi, a little far away, but G Lapan or U Yoshii. At this price, I would go to F Grie. I forgot to take a picture.

The food was a bit pricey but very delicious. The downside is that the parking lot can only fit two cars vertically, making it difficult to park especially in winter. Also, if you sit at the back, you may have to move your car even during your meal, which is inconvenient. I think it's a good restaurant for a date.
