It has been a while since I wrote a food review, but I couldn't help but write one after visiting this restaurant for the first time. I had heard that it was a popular place, but I had never been there before. I went there right at the opening time of 5:00 PM as they close at 9:00 PM (visited on a Sunday). I was surprised by the affordable prices on the menu in the midst of high prices. Items like chicken skewers, hearts, dumplings, gizzards, etc. were all priced below 100 yen. Onigiri (rice balls) were also available for only 100 yen each. What's more, there was no typical izakaya "otoshi" (appetizer) that costs around 300 yen, making the bill clear and straightforward. Since we don't drink alcohol when dining out due to driving, we were happy to find soft drinks for 200 yen and non-alcoholic drinks for 320 yen. Despite the low prices, the skewers were filled with quality ingredients. Personally, I recommend the chicken skewers, chicken livers, pork belly, beef skirt, pork tongue, and tail meat, all priced below 120 yen each. The seasoning was slightly on the sweeter side, but you can request a saltier taste by writing it on the order sheet. In addition to yakitori, they also offer dishes like tripe hot pot, hormone teppanyaki, leek and egg, horse sashimi, ochazuke, etc. However, if you prefer fried foods as side dishes, you may feel that the options are a bit limited. I had budgeted around 2,000 yen per person for a group of five, but we ended up spending 10,840 yen after eating to our heart's content. If you enjoy beer or shochu, you will need to add the cost of alcohol, but overall, the cost performance is excellent. This is a popular restaurant, so it tends to fill up quickly, especially on Saturdays. I hesitated to write this review as it might make it even more popular and harder to get a reservation, but I couldn't resist praising this honest and wonderful restaurant. It's located just a 5-minute walk from Nishitetsu Ogori Station. While it may be slightly closer to Fukuoka than the yakitori mecca of Kurume, I highly recommend giving it a try. Thank you for the delicious meal!
