Tried the black pork fried dumplings, bite-sized fried dumplings, large fried chicken wings, boiled dumplings, liver and leek stir-fry, and dumpling jjigae. Surrounded by dumplings, it was a happy day. The comparison between the black pork fried dumplings and bite-sized fried dumplings was so delicious that I ordered another plate. The small size makes it easy to eat them quickly. For those who prefer a lighter taste, the bite-sized fried dumplings are recommended. The chicken wings come in a set of two, but since there were three of us, we asked for three. The dumpling jjigae has a perfect level of spiciness with dumplings and vegetables, making it a taste you'll want to eat every day in the cold winter. Lunch has started at Yakuin Houuntei in Fukuoka City. I visited Yakuin Houuntei on March 25, 2021 (Thursday). This place is located in the middle of Yakuin Odori intersection and Yakuin Mitsukado on the Jounan Line. They recently started serving lunch, with menu options like Gyoza set meal, Wonton noodles, and rice bowls. Yakuin Houuntei is known for their Gyoza, with 9 pieces for 690 yen including tax. Rice refills are free. I couldn't decide between Gyoza and Wonton noodles, so I ended up ordering Handmade Wonton noodles for 780 yen (tax included) and a bowl of rice for 120 yen (tax included). On the table, there were red yuzu pepper and mentaiko sauce. The Handmade Wonton noodles came with Chinese cabbage, wood ear mushrooms, and 4 wontons. The soup had a rich soy sauce flavor. Next, I'll try the wontons. They were filled with plenty of meat and had a smooth skin, very delicious. It goes well with rice too! The noodles were medium-thin and straight. About a 2-minute walk from Yakuin-Odori Station on the Fukuoka City Subway in Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture. This is a branch of Hougentei, known for their bite-sized gyoza. I enjoyed a bottle of beer, vinegar motsu (offal), and gyoza - a classic "Hakata" combination in my book. I like to eat them with yuzu pepper. Gyoza Hitosuji is a gyoza restaurant originally from Nagasaki. They have a few locations in Fukuoka, and I visited the Yakuin branch this time. As the sign outside the restaurant says, they specialize in gyoza, with gyoza set meals also available on the menu. The selection of side dishes is limited, showing their focus on gyoza. I ordered the bite-sized gyoza, black pork gyoza, and chicken wings. The gyoza here is really delicious, living up to their claim of being a gyoza specialist. Personally, I highly recommend the black pork gyoza. The chewy skin and flavorful filling go perfectly together, making it hard to stop eating. Although I didn't order rice this time, I'm sure it would complement the gyoza well. The black pork gyoza comes in a serving of 8 pieces, while the bite-sized gyoza comes in a serving of 10 pieces. Unless you have a small appetite, I think one person could easily finish both servings. The chicken wings are indeed large as stated, with a refreshing taste that pairs well with salt. It would be even better if they were juicier. I'll definitely order rice next time I visit.

When people hear "Houuntei," they usually think of Nakasu, but this branch in Yakuin is more accessible. The exterior is on the 1st floor of a building, and the interior has both counter and table seats, with a spacious layout. The walls are decorated with fish prints, including an impressive "Ishidai" caught by the fishing enthusiast owner. We tried the "Black Pork Gyoza" and "Soup Gyoza." The Black Pork Gyoza was delicious, with a crispy skin and rich filling. It's a unique dish that you can't find in Nakasu, where they only serve "one-bite gyoza." The handmade skin really makes a difference. The Soup Gyoza had a smooth texture and the filling paired well with the soup. This is a small gyoza restaurant in Hakata. I visited because I wanted to drink beer with gyoza. The combination is perfect and amazing. The gyoza is light and the vegetables are crunchy, making it a taste that never gets old. I can't stop the endless loop of gyoza, beer, gyoza, beer. The liver and leek gyoza is also delicious. The boiled gyoza is also tasty.

Gyoza and a beer at "Houuntei" in Yakuin. After work, I walked towards Yakuin and stopped by "Houuntei" near Rokkaku. It's a well-known gyoza restaurant. They have a variety of menu items, mostly izakaya-style dishes. They also offer set meals and no cover charge, which is nice. I had a draft beer and a bite-sized gyoza for 550 yen. They have their own original sauce. The combination of gyoza and beer is surprisingly good. It's a shop specializing in dumplings. The dumplings are a good size and definitely delicious. I wanted to try other menu items as well, but I had a reservation at the next shop, so I quietly paid and left. I would like to come back and take my time next time.

Gyoza set meal for 720 yen includes 6 bite-sized gyoza, rice, miso soup, and 2 side dishes. The side dishes were chilled tofu and pickled vegetables with yuzu flavor, both go well with alcohol. The gyoza is light and has a gentle taste that can be enjoyed even without rice. Water gyoza, 8 pieces for 630 yen, comes with plenty of soup! I started with a draft beer and some potato salad. The potato salad had a light texture and taste. Then I tried the one-bite fried dumplings, which were easy to eat with a light flavor. Next, I had the black pork fried dumplings, which had a rich flavor compared to the one-bite dumplings. It paired well with beer. Lastly, I tried the stir-fried hormone, which made me crave rice. However, I was already full and couldn't eat more. Overall, the food was delicious.
