A curry restaurant in Kitahama, Osaka. It seems to have been around since the beginning of the spice curry trend. Reviews suggest that it may be a bit challenging to visit, as they only open for lunch and the opening hours can be unpredictable, sometimes starting at 1 pm or 2 pm. The restaurant may be a bit dirty, especially the restroom, and the service may have some quirks. However, upon visiting, the owner seemed sincere, albeit a bit awkward. As the restaurant gets busier, they offer customers extra vegetables as a side dish, showing a level of service consciousness. The restroom is indeed quite small and the way to line up is a bit confusing, with the entrance located at the back of the building. The curry options include beef, chicken, and vegetable, each with the choice of having the curry sauce as it is or mixed. The mixed option is different from "ai-gake" as it is all mixed in one pot, altering the flavor. I chose the mixed beef curry and found it to be delicious, with tender beef and a stew-like quality. The dish also includes various vegetables and mushrooms, adding different flavors depending on the ingredients. Perhaps trying the straight version first would have allowed me to appreciate the true taste better. Overall, the initial bite of the beef was so delicious that it made me question if opting for the more expensive option due to the rarity of visiting the restaurant was a bit too straightforward.

During the summer months, it's relatively easy to schedule work on weekdays at the end of July to mid-August. I usually tend to eat noodles for lunch, but during the summer, I try to choose curry restaurants as much as possible. This summer, I visited several curry restaurants, but the one with the highest hurdle before visiting was a legendary shop that had a huge line when I went before. It's said to have been started around the birth period of spice curry in the early 1990s. I heard that many of Osaka's spice curry restaurants have been influenced in some way by this shop, but is it true? I had heard a lot of information even before going, such as the rules for lining up and the delay in opening hours. Finally, on a weekday afternoon that I decided to visit, there wasn't much of a line surprisingly, and they taught me how to line up politely and explained how to order clearly. The shop owner, who has been in this business for decades, has a sincere aura that personally makes me feel at ease. I realized that I need to see and hear things for myself, not just rely on word of mouth or information. I ordered the Keema Mixed B curry. The first thing that surprised me was the portion size - a lot of curry, brown rice, and various vegetables. But as I ate, I couldn't stop. The soup-like curry with low viscosity has amazing spiciness and sharp acidity. The light umami flavor that comes later also spreads out, creating a stable and delicious taste. The vegetables, eggs, and other ingredients were just right in terms of flavor. Personally, I felt that this was a good value for money. I think this shop has reached its unique spice curry through continuous improvement. I savored the taste while pondering on this thought.

Around 12:25 on a regular weekday, there was a sign outside but no line in front of the restaurant. I decided to take a look and saw three people waiting in line at the entrance. It was the first time I had seen so few people waiting, so I decided to join the line. I entered the restaurant after about 15 minutes. I ordered the Mix B Keema Curry, spicy, for 1450 yen including tax. I chose brown rice instead of white rice. They cook three servings at a time on three stoves, using various ingredients and spices. It takes about 15 minutes to prepare. The curry, served steaming hot and with a wonderful aroma, was full of spices and flavor. Although there are now many Osaka spice curry restaurants, this one is still the best. The only downside is that the restaurant only has six seats and the turnover is slow due to being run by one person. However, if you have time to spare and love Osaka spice curry, you should definitely try it at least once.

Summer is definitely curry season. After leaving Tsutaya, I noticed that the line at the legendary spice curry shop Kashmir nearby was unusually short. This could be lucky. I lined up and gathered information. Apparently, there was no sign and they still hadn't opened even after 12 o'clock, so the line was short. The seasoned sign. The owner, Mr. Goto, is a former member of the Egolappin group and a legend in the Osaka spice curry world. Water is self-service. Menu. I ordered the Mix B Keema spicy. 1450 yen. Mix B Keema spicy. The visual looks delicious. Overall view. A plate overflowing with spice curry. First of all, the curry itself is delicious. It is made by combining several curry pastes and adding powdered spices and heating them. The cooking method has been the same since ancient times. The curry has a slight acidity. Eggplant. Egg. Tofu. This makes the curry closer to a Japanese taste. Daikon radish. Even more Japanese-style. Tofu and daikon radish. Just like miso soup ingredients. Egg and keema. Delicious, delicious, and it was quickly finished. 3 types of pickles. A good palate cleanser. White things appeared in Mr. Goto's hair while we weren't looking. It's the same for me. We've both gotten older. The service seems to have become much more friendly compared to the past. When I mentioned this to a certain famous curry shop owner, he said it's a joyous thing for the curry world in Osaka. Indeed, Mr. Goto is a god in the Osaka spice curry world.

I lined up behind some people when I passed by a restaurant nearby. After waiting for 30 minutes, I finally got in. This time, I ordered Mix B with lamb. It came with onions and carrots as side dishes. The wait was worth it because it was delicious. It was a bit too much for lunch, but I am very satisfied.

Curry Log Curry Top 100 2022 21st place out of 100 nationwide with a comprehensive rating of 3.81 Visited on June 23, 2023, Friday at 12:05 Ordered: Lamb curry with brown rice (¥1,150) + Mix B (¥300) This restaurant is known among curry enthusiasts as the birthplace of spice curry, and it is also known for its high level of difficulty in getting a reservation. Finally, I made my long-awaited first visit to this place! According to my research, the opening hours are often significantly delayed, and they may have temporary closures without prior notice, with notices posted only in front of the shop. The opening time is supposed to be 12:00, so I aimed for the first round and arrived at 11:20. There was already one person waiting in front of the shop, and I became the second in line. Since there were no signs of delays or temporary closures in front of the shop, I hoped that they would open on time, and indeed they opened at 12:05! By the way, the lineup before opening was: 11:30 - 3 people waiting, 11:50 - 8 people waiting, 12:00 - 10 people waiting, and when I left, there were about 10 people waiting outside again. This restaurant does not pre-cook the dishes but carefully prepares each order, so the waiting time can be quite long as the line gets longer. I managed to get in on the first round as planned. The owner, who was handling everything alone, took orders for three meals (for three people) at a time, each person paid on the spot, and then the cooking started. The cooking time was about 10 minutes. The aroma of the spices filled the air. The presentation was very meticulous, showing the owner's personality. As for the taste, the spiciness did not hit you hard from the beginning but gradually built up, and the complex flavors were delightful. The curry had a watery consistency, true to the essence of spice curry. However, I couldn't quite taste the Japanese-style broth flavor that is characteristic of spice curry, so I felt it lacked a bit of richness. This might be inevitable for the original shop, but I personally prefer spice curry with a stronger Japanese-style broth flavor. I had heard that there were various unspoken rules regarding customer service, but when I actually visited, there was no such atmosphere at all. The owner provided sincere, humble, and polite service, making a good impression.

Mixed curry with eggs for 300 yen, Keema curry for 1150 yen, made with 100% lamb. I really like the smell of lamb in this Keema curry. I wouldn't mind if it was even stronger. Luckily, I was able to find a seat easily around 2:30 pm on a weekday. The mixed curry is colorful and full of ingredients, with sweet potatoes and tofu included. The flavor is not too strong, so you can taste the spices and meat in a simple way. It was delicious!

Curry restaurant in Temmabashi. I arrived around 12 o'clock and waited for almost an hour to get in. The place is run by one person, so the turnover rate is not very high. I ordered the lamb curry for 1,100 yen. You could also add extra toppings for an additional 200-300 yen. The curry had a watery consistency with a strong spiciness and acidity. It was not the type of curry I usually eat, but it was delicious! Personally, I would have preferred it to be a bit less acidic. I think it would be good for people who like spicy curry. It's a curry that some may like and some may not.

I visited "Kashmir" for the first time in 18 years. It is probably the narrowest curry restaurant in Osaka. They are only open during the day, closed on Saturdays to Mondays, and their opening time is supposed to be at 12:00, but they often open late. The other day, when I went there around 11:30, there was a sign on the door saying, "We will open around 14:30." I immediately gave up and went to another restaurant. It seems like Kashmir Time surpasses even Okinawa Time. Maybe it's a strategy to avoid long lines? I lined up at 11:40 that day and was second in line. They opened at 12:05. I ordered the "Beef" (1,050 yen). They cook three servings at a time in a frying pan since they have three burners. The beef came out in less than 20 minutes after ordering. It's a feature that tofu is included. The scorching roux is light and not too thick. It's spicy and delicious! The pickles include onions, cucumbers, and carrots. Oops, I lined up in the wrong order. If I had put the onion pickles in the middle, it would have been like the Italian tricolor. "Mickey's Daily Life": http://mickeyjapan.blog.fc2.com/

It looked like there wasn't much, but surprisingly there was a good amount and I left feeling full. I ordered the Lamb B with egg, which was made after I placed my order. It had a lot of vegetables and the aroma of spices really stimulated my appetite. I feel like I've gained some energy from it. The curry sauce was more like a soup.

【2022 Curry Top 100 Restaurants】A popular curry restaurant located about a 3-minute walk from Kitahama Station. It was around lunchtime on a weekday, and there were about 5 people in line. However, there was only one staff member working, so the wait time was a bit long, about 20 minutes. This restaurant is known as a hub for Osaka spice curry. The interior is not spacious, with only a counter, but it has a relaxed atmosphere that I personally like. The friendly service from the owner was also great. ✨ I ordered the following: [Lamb Curry 1100 yen] [Mix B 300 yen] *B for "lots of ingredients" means it includes eggs and is slightly coarse, which is appetizing. The appearance is good, with a curry that is easy to eat while still having a strong spice flavor. The exquisite taste was truly impressive. ✨ Personally, I recommend adding the Mix for a balanced appearance and taste. I was also very curious about the other curries on the menu. Thank you for the meal. ✨ I will definitely come back. ⭐️⭐️

Kashmir [Legendary restaurant known as the origin of spice curry: Visiting after 6 years of anticipation - Should dedicate a whole day to visit - Realizing once again that the best spice curry is in Osaka③] 2023 Curry 092 Restaurant 117th Dish April 11, 2023. Since 2017, Dish 3543. ■ Keema 1100 yen ▶︎ Mix B (with egg) 300 yen Brown rice, less rice. This is a legendary curry restaurant known as the origin of spice curry. In 2017, when I first came to the front of the store, there was a wooden board with a sign saying "Closed today." Since then, I have been coming to survey the front of the store about once a year. The reason for this "survey" is that I usually give up on entering the store, but I still come to the front with a glimmer of hope. Most of the time, I visit during business trips, and when I arrived at the store at 11:30, there was a sign saying "We will open around 14:30," or sometimes they are temporarily closed, or there is a sign saying they will open around 13:00, which makes me give up. Even when I have holidays like weekends or Fridays and Saturdays off, the timing doesn't match, and I just can't enter the store. That's why, in my 7th year of visiting, I finally visited on a Tuesday, which is the only day off, dedicating the entire day to Kashmir. The official opening time of the store is 12:00, but when I arrived at 11:30, there was a sign saying "We will open around 13:00." I adjusted the time at a coffee shop and visited again at 12:40, positioning myself as the 7th person in line. I was a little late. There are only 6 seats inside the store, so being the 7th person means I would have to wait for the second round. The people lining up were all exuding an air of enthusiasts or professionals, and there were also regular customers among them. Coming repeatedly to such a difficult store must mean that they have a job with a lot of flexibility in terms of time, lucky them. The store opened around 13:10. As expected, the first person was served at 13:24. At 13:43, three people left one after another, and I was prompted to take a seat. I ordered Keema with Mix B. Each dish is prepared very carefully. My curry was served right at 14:00. Although curry is just a single dish, the story behind each dish is not a simple one that you eat and leave the store within 10 minutes. I have eaten and recorded over 3000 curries to get to this point. But even when I had only eaten a few hundred, I visited several times and finally reached this one dish. I gratefully accepted it. Despite being called Keema curry, it is not dry but a wet Keema curry. The flowing curry, which is watery and loose, is mixed with plenty of minced meat and ingredients. The Mix (with egg) includes vegetables and a half-boiled egg mixed in that Keema curry. When you eat it, you'll be surprised by the taste of Kashmir. Before a certain prime minister casually talks about being "in a different dimension," I would like them to eat at least 10 to 20 servings of curry in Osaka. To be in a different dimension means that it is beyond the realm of countless experiences so far, yet it is still far beyond that realm, making it a different dimension. The taste of Kashmir was in that different dimension. It delivers a stimulation that is not spiciness. It stirs up your brain and shakes your skull as if swinging it around vigorously. You will experience a different dimension of chewing that persistently chews and savors the joy that slowly spreads. The uniqueness that continues to emit the genre of Kashmir, forming one genre, allowed me to enjoy the original spice curry from the legendary store. Ah, the impression I first learned when I first came to Osaka and ate spice curry has now resurfaced here. I persistently chewed and savored the pleasure of umami, stimulation, and the balance between them. I returned home experiencing the different dimension of mastication, and once again, I was invited to the journey of mastication in a different dimension. Ah, happiness, all's well that ends well. #Goggle Mask #Kashmir #Spice Curry #Osaka #Kitahama #Osaka Spice Curry #Tabelog Top 100 Curry Restaurants #Tabelog Top 100 Curry Restaurants 2022

After having sushi for lunch, I happened to pass by this place in the afternoon and saw there was only one person in line, so I couldn't pass up the opportunity and decided to come in. I only waited about 10 minutes in line. I ordered the Keema Curry. I'm still a beginner when it comes to spicy curries, but I felt like this might be the original spicy curry. It was delicious.

I always gave up because there was always a line, but today there was no one in the aisle. I waited a little and got in. I had imagined that the owner was a scary person, but in reality, he was very kind. I ordered the chicken curry. I had high expectations, but it was different from what I had imagined. The spiciness was just right for me, but I wanted more punch. I didn't understand the meaning of Mix A Mix B, so I didn't order it, but if I were to go again, I would probably go for the B set without eggs.

One of the restaurants I had been wanting to visit. Ended up just passing by. When I visited for lunch, there were about 10 people in line. Since I had some time, I decided to wait in line. I was debating between the spinach cheese or the popular lamb dish on the menu. In the end, I was swayed towards the lamb. The lamb dish came with brown rice and I added extra vegetables with eggs. The lamb pieces were slightly small and had a strong curry and spice flavor. Each dish was carefully made. The service was polite and I felt they took the time to explain the menu options. Please take your time to decide on the menu. Thank you for the meal.

I visited a curry specialty shop located about a 5-minute walk from Kitahama Station in Osaka during my trip to Kyoto, Osaka, and Nagoya. The shop, which was selected as one of the top curry restaurants by Tabelog in various years, only serves lunch on weekdays, making it quite challenging to visit. When I arrived around 11:30, I was the first in line, but there was a sign on the door saying that they would open at around 1:30. Feeling hungry, I grabbed a quick bite nearby and returned around 1:20 to find no line, which was lucky. However, I noticed a line forming near a utility pole next to me. I joined that line and waited for about 10 minutes before the shop opened. I managed to get the last seat at the L-shaped counter. The interior was cozy with an Anglo-Saxon vibe. I struggled a bit with the menu, so I observed what others were ordering and made my choice. I ordered the Chicken Mix A with brown rice (without egg). The visual presentation was unique, with a mix of watercress, carrots, onions, tofu, and other ingredients. I was surprised by the tofu but found it quite tasty. You could choose between white rice and brown rice, and I opted for brown rice. The curry sauce, generously covering the brown rice, was watery and had a strong, refreshing spice flavor that made my body warm and sweaty. The aromatic spices combined with the deliciousness of the sauce made it a satisfying meal. Thank you for the meal.

It's a delicious spice curry restaurant just as rumored. Personally, it's my favorite. It's so delicious - I've been wanting to go for a while but couldn't make it. I wish I had come sooner! However, it's a bit challenging. The opening hours are unpredictable. There is a sign on the door saying "We plan to open around ⚫ o'clock." I arrived at the restaurant at 1 pm. Today, it seems like they will open around 1:30 pm. Lucky me, I decided to buy bread from the nearby Manpuku Bakery and line up before the opening. There were already 4 people waiting at 1:15. It's 1:30 and they haven't opened yet. I waited for less than 10 minutes and then entered. The interior of the restaurant has only 6 counter seats, with ample space between each seat. Once all 6 seats are occupied, the owner starts taking orders from the two customers, prepares the curry, serves it, and then takes the next customer's order, creating a relaxed atmosphere where time flows smoothly. Watching the owner move around efficiently is also pleasant. The menu items are as follows: Beef 1050 yen (tax included), Lamb 1100 yen (tax included), Chicken 900 yen (tax included), Vegetables 900 yen (tax included), Egg 900 yen (tax included), Spinach and Cheese 900 yen (tax included), Mix (combining 3 types of curry bases, not a mix and match) for an additional 300 yen. Choose A (with egg) or B (without egg), and rice or brown rice. You need to choose one item from the above menu to decide on the main dish. The owner recommends not choosing Mix as the Vegetables curry is already well-established. This time, I chose Mix A with brown rice and beef. Beef (1050 yen) + Mix (300 yen) 1350 yen (tax included). It was a great choice and it was delicious! I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the meal. Access: 4 minutes on foot from Keihan "Kitahama Station" exit 30, 5 minutes on foot from Subway Sakaisuji Line "Kitahama Station" exit 5, 8 minutes on foot from Subway Tanimachi Line "Tenmabashi Station" exit 4.

"Osaka City Chuo Ward" Approximately 5 minutes walk from Osaka Metro Sakaisuji Line Kitahama Station, be prepared to wait for about 1 hour even on weekdays at the curry restaurant "Kashmir" visited on February 28, 2023. It is said to be an amazing restaurant that was ranked in the top 100 curry restaurants in 2022! It seems to be the birthplace of spice curry. I had no idea about it at all... I ordered the "Beef 1050 yen". It's a curry that some people would understand, but honestly, it's difficult for me. The taste is delicious, I think (^.^) In the smooth curry, the complex spices mix together, and it's just confusing... The beef is tender and delicious, but it's different from the beef in typical beef curry. I felt the same sensation at the famous curry restaurant "Columbia Eight", calculated spices, but it's difficult to express the deliciousness... I still think I need more practice... I personally prefer easy-to-understand Western-style curry, so it might be hard for me to evaluate... Thank you for the meal~♪♪

Mix B (with egg) Lamb ¥1,400 (tax included). A watery type curry. The soup is spicy and well seasoned with spices, with vegetables that seem to have been simmered for a long time and melted into it. Perhaps because it's a mix, the amount of meat is slightly less. It doesn't have a stylish or sophisticated appearance, but I understand why it's become a legendary figure in the booming world of spice curry shops. The owner is very humble and provides attentive service. However, I can't help but think that it would be better if they were open every day from 13:00...

This time, I visited four of the Osaka's "2022 Curry Top 100 WEST" selected stores, limited to weekdays. Following "Synergy," "Level Curry," and "Columbia 8 Kitahama Main Store," I visited this place, which is known as the birthplace of Osaka Spice Curry. "Kashmir" was opened in 1992 in America-mura in Minami Osaka. Since then, it has moved from America-mura to Horie, and now operates in Kitahama. The owner used to be a bassist in a band, but after being captivated by curry, he left the band and has been creating curry as his own work. It seems that the owner has a unique personality, and there are some unspoken rules. In conclusion, I felt that as long as you follow general manners and consider the owner who handles everything alone, you can visit without any specific rules. The following is a continuation to the photos.
