In March 2016, I went to buy canelés for a friend who loves them and also bought strawberry chiboust. The color of the chiboust was a bit unusual, but it tasted delicious. Next time, I will go buy canelés for myself. In January 2016, I bought two types of Mont Blanc for myself because my child was taking one to work as a treat. The traditional Mont Blanc had a slightly hard and dry sponge. The French Mont Blanc was quite sweet. I would like to try the Elbe, which I haven't eaten yet, next time. In December 2015, a friend was coming over, so I went to a shop called Mont Blanc that I found from my car the other day. It seemed like a new opening, but I was told that they had recently relocated from Ōtemon. Although it's called Mont Blanc, it's not just a Mont Blanc specialty store. There were various items available. I was immediately drawn to the DUO with an edible flower and gold leaf, which looked beautiful and shiny, so I bought two of them. I also bought an Opera. Other items included Mont Blanc, French Mont Blanc, choux cream, Alsace Swiss roll, and Elbe, which was recommended as a top three must-try item. Unfortunately, they didn't have the Elbe, so I couldn't try it. At the checkout, I noticed canelés next to the register, so I also bought two of them. I had never tried canelés before, so I was curious about the taste. Contrary to my expectations from the appearance, the inside was moist and had a gentle sweetness, with a unique texture. The sweetness comes from honey, and it's from France. It was my friend's favorite, but some people may not appreciate its moist and delicious texture due to individual preferences. My friend also tried French Mont Blanc and said it was delicious, with a meringue base, which was unusual and tasty. The DUO I tried was delicious as expected, but having a bit of an accent flavor in the middle layer might make it more enjoyable until the end. My daughter enjoyed the choux cream, especially the sugar on top. The traditional Mont Blanc was also delicious. The Swiss roll was like a mini version of a regular roll cake, with plenty of cream, different from the ones at a certain supermarket. I used to eat a whole roll cake at once, but now I can't, so this mini size is good for not overeating. The Alsace Swiss roll seemed like a cheese cake with a lightly caramelized top and apple on top, which was interesting. Personally, I prefer a bit more acidity, but this was intriguing in its own way. The Opera was also delicious, but it felt like something was slightly missing, maybe a hint of rum flavor. Mont Blanc offers products made with rare sugars, which is great for those concerned about diet or blood sugar levels. Oh, and the kind owner-pâtissier mentioned a 50 yen discount service if you bring back the receipt next time.
