Located at 166-1 Tsunakuro, Sasaguri-cho, Kasuya-gun, Fukuoka Prefecture, this restaurant is situated along Route 201 heading towards Iizuka from Fukuoka City. This is a franchise of "Maido Ookini Shokudo" operated by Fujio Food Co., Ltd., and you may have seen a similar restaurant setup in Fukuoka City.
The highlight of this restaurant is the self-service style where you can choose your favorite dishes one by one and enjoy a customized set meal. People of all ages visit here starting from 6:30 in the morning. The spacious interior has table seating, and upon entering, you can pick your preferred dishes in categories like "fried food," "grilled food," "simmered fish," and "side dishes" following the flow, then proceed to the register with your tray.
The staff mentioned, "We serve it fresh from the grill," so I ordered the "Grilled Salted Mackerel." The aroma of the fish grilled over charcoal is irresistible to anyone (laughs). I also chose "Fried Chicken" and "Horse Mackerel Fry," along with "Grated Yam," "Miso Soup," and "Medium Rice" to settle the bill. I picked up water, mayonnaise, and dressing from the self-service corner and took a seat at an available table.
Starting with the "Grilled Mackerel," it was simply delicious! Freshly grilled is always the best! The reduced salt content may be for health reasons, but it might not be satisfying for those engaged in physical labor. I recommend adjusting it to your liking with the condiments on the table. The fried dishes were pre-made, so they didn't have the same impact as the Grilled Mackerel, but they were of standard quality you would find in a supermarket deli section. The miso soup was packed with ingredients! One thing I found a bit disappointing was that the "rice" wasn't particularly tasty - it was advertised as freshly cooked in a pot, but it didn't have that freshly cooked rice feel.
I would consider stopping by again if I have the chance. Thank you for the meal. Enjoy Gourmet Life☆
