On the third day of my trip to Osaka, I visited Nishinari again to buy dinner. The reason I stopped by here is because they have eco bags! They had the bags I was looking for, which were not available at the Tenjinsujibashi store or the Nihonbashi store. So I bought one along with dinner. The eco bag cannot be folded or compacted, so it's hard to find situations to use it, but with this color and design, it's good enough for me. Also, I found a great deal - 5 bags of 60g grated yam for only 100 yen! I had it with sashimi I bought from another store, but the amount was too much and I ended up feeling really full and uncomfortable that night. I love deli foods that make me want to make jokes because encounters like this make me happy.

At the end of 2014, my husband and I took our first trip to Kansai together. We stayed at a budget inn in Nishinari and went to this supermarket near Shin-Imamiya Station for dinner. We were amazed by the cheap prices at the deli section. We were so impressed that we couldn't decide what to buy. We ended up getting curry spaghetti, tonpeiyaki, mapo eggplant rice bowl, and thick rolls for drinks. Even with all that, it only cost a little over 500 yen. We had heard rumors about it, but it was really amazing. And the mapo eggplant was surprisingly delicious. Even though it was our first time in Nishinari, it felt nostalgic and heartwarming. When I saw a sign at the inn saying the monthly rent was 48,000 yen, I felt like I wanted to move here.

Tsutenkaku? Janjan Yokocho? Abeno Harukas? No way!! It's gotta be "Super Tamade"! It's open 24 hours, so you can go anytime! You'll be more impressed than going to any tourist spot! Definitely check it out!

I often visited Kansai, but I had no idea about this place until I found out about it (laughs). I was impressed by the incredibly low prices and convenience, and it became a must-visit whenever I went to Osaka. This time, I happened to visit this place by chance. I was planning to go to 551 Horai at Nankai Shin-Imamiya Station, but I had to give up at the ticket gate (cries). As I was going down the stairs, I happened to find Tamade, so I couldn't help but go in. I was buying bento boxes to take to a Gamba Osaka game. That's where Tamade really shines! There are so many 100 yen packed side dishes lined up that it's hard to choose. The taste is as good as a local Western restaurant, even though it's only 100 yen. If you want something more luxurious, you can buy it separately. I simply bought chicken rice and Napolitan, but it was still only 200 yen (laughs). The payment is handled by a mysterious foreigner who acts impersonally, but as long as you don't mind that, it's not a problem. By the way, the item that was selling like hotcakes for some reason was the 65 yen white rice. Why?

I am staying at a nearby budget hotel. The food here is very cheap. For example, a pack of fried potatoes costs 100 yen, and items like sushi rolls are also quite inexpensive. Since it is open 24 hours, there were many customers coming to buy food at all times, and on this day, there were a lot of shoppers.

Taro stew for 100 yen, 5 octopus balls for 100 yen, etc... Side dishes are cheap! Perfect for having a hotel drink! Even foreign tourists can heat them up in the hotel microwave! There are no photos, but the quality is just like any supermarket! Definitely worth a visit as part of your sightseeing.

I ended up buying some side dishes, snacks, and alcohol at the Tamade supermarket in front of Shin-Imamiya station and decided to eat at the hotel. I arrived at the store on Saturday at 5:57 pm, and there were around 10 customers shopping for dinner. There were about 2 cashiers and 2-3 staff members stocking shelves. Tamade is known as a discount supermarket mainly located in Osaka. However, the branded products are not particularly cheap. The unique thing about Tamade is the variety of side dishes, fresh fish, and bento boxes, as well as the affordability. The lineup of side dishes, fresh fish, and bento boxes is quite extensive, and they offer some interesting products that you wouldn't find in Kanto. However, the appearance may not look very appetizing... you won't know until you try it! So I bought some to try. By the way, the discount timing and rates for products nearing their expiration date vary by store at Tamade. The discounts offered differ depending on the store. I returned to the budget hotel K, which was a 5-minute walk away, and it was time for a drink. I will rate the items out of 10 based on taste and original price cost performance. Pork cutlet (liver, 128 yen plus tax): 9 points As expected, it tastes better when heated. In the case of budget hotel K, there is a microwave on the floor, so you can heat it up. It is already crispy due to being pre-fried. The liver cutlet has a unique taste with a hint of iron, but if you like it, it becomes addictive! It is large in size and very satisfying to eat. It is also highly nutritious and I recommend it. I thought it would be even better with some sauce. Burdock tempura (138 yen plus tax): 10 points This is delicious! The burdock is cut into about 5 cm lengths, coated with batter, and deep-fried. Even though it has become a bit soggy due to being left out for a while, it still tastes great. There are about 15 pieces in a pack, and it offers great value. Branded products (store price): 8 points Various branded products, from unique ones only found at Tamade to common ones found everywhere, are available. The prices are supermarket prices, but since the original prices are low, the overall cost can be kept low. However, it does not offer sudden extreme discounts like Don Quijote.
