I came to this restaurant to have breakfast. There were various menu options, but I chose the beef and egg rice bowl set. When it arrived, I noticed that there was no miso soup. The staff quickly brought it to me. Next, there was no soy sauce for the egg rice bowl. It seemed like they were running low on soy sauce because many people were ordering it. It would be better to place it at the condiment section on the counter. As I was about to eat, the person next to me accidentally took my glass when clearing their dishes. Considering the low price of 390 yen for the set meal and the limited staff, I felt that they did their best. Thank you for the meal.

This is a story from a little while ago, but for lunch on April 27th, I went to the "Sukiya" restaurant near my office, the Akihabara Iwamotocho store. I ordered curry rice, using SukiPass, it cost 410 yen including tax. I quickly devoured the curry rice, swallowing it down in one go. Phew, that was good. Up until that day, I had eaten a total of 1,717 meals outside (including eat-in and takeout), as well as breakfast and lunch meals brought from home (excluding the company cafeteria). The average price per meal was 444 yen including tax.

B-class Gourmet Edition - Curry Rice @ Sukiya / Iwamoto-cho
A little while ago, for lunch on April 13th (Wednesday), I went to the Sukiya Akihabara Station Iwamoto-cho store near my company. I ordered the curry rice. Using Sukipass, the total was 410 yen including tax. I quickly slurped down the curry rice, enjoying the taste and portion size for the price. With this taste and volume at this price, the cost performance is definitely satisfactory. I left the restaurant very satisfied. The end. Total number of meals eaten out (including eat-in and take-out), retort and frozen food brought home for breakfast and lunch since January 2011 up to this date: 1,703 meals, average price: 445 yen including tax per meal.

In the midst of a state of emergency, there were few food options available besides a beef bowl restaurant. I decided to try the Negi Shio Lemon flavor, but it didn't have much of a refreshing taste. For toppings, the only choice was a raw egg, which complemented the beef bowl well. Thank you for the meal.

Sukiya has come up with a crazy dish (compliment) - it's called the Yakisoba Gyudon Omurice MIX. As the name suggests, it's a combination of yakisoba, gyudon, omurice, and curry all mixed together. It's like they just randomly piled yakisoba, gyudon, egg, and curry on top of rice. It's so absurd that it's funny. Why would they add this to the menu? Let's think about it calmly. Yakisoba and rice go well together. There's a dish called sobameshi, so omurice also goes well with it. And since there are beef toppings, it goes well with gyudon. There's also curry-flavored sobameshi, so curry is not out of place. In other words, think of this more as sobameshi than gyudon. Or think of it as the perfect menu when you can't decide between yakisoba, gyudon, omurice, and curry. Whether such a time actually exists is another question. I believe that food has the goodness of being delicious and the goodness of being interesting. This dish has the element of being interesting. Asking if it's delicious is beside the point. I want to applaud the fact that a major chain like Sukiya has shown such madness.

It's been a while since I last visited Sukiya. Actually, it might be my first time here. Due to the impact of the coronavirus, many places have stopped offering 24-hour service and dining in, but this restaurant still allows dining in 24 hours a day, which is very convenient. It was a great place to grab a meal after finishing work late at 10 pm.

I was drawn into the restaurant by a poster advertising a special menu. I placed my order using the touch panel on the table. I chose the Sichuan-style beef sukiyaki set meal for 830 yen, with a free extra-large rice option and double the meat for an additional 200 yen. I also added three extra portions of spicy Sichuan spices for 30 yen each. After placing my order, I waited for quite a while. It took over 20 minutes for my meal to arrive, and there was no explanation for the delay. The small pot of sukiyaki arrived with a red sauce on top, which I assumed was the key to the Sichuan-style flavor. However, when I tasted the broth, it had more of a sweet and savory Japanese flavor rather than a Sichuan one. Even after adding the included spicy oil and extra Sichuan spices, the dish still leaned towards a Japanese flavor profile. Despite not being very Sichuan-style, the meal was still enjoyable if I didn't focus on the menu name. The option for double meat provided a satisfying amount of food for the price, and I appreciated that the mini stove kept the dish hot until the end. The spiciness level was around 0.8 on the spiciness scale, but overall, I was satisfied with the meal. Thank you for the meal!

Morning set meal series! I visited Sukiya after the consumption tax increase~ Located along Yasukuni Street, at the corner of Iwamotocho intersection, is Sukiya. Tamakake breakfast: 250 yen for a set of rice, miso soup, egg, tamago kake soy sauce, mayo potato, and seaweed. Now, how should we cook it today? This time, I focused on the visual aspect and placed the raw egg on top of the rice without mixing it. I shaped it with seasoned seaweed, mayo potato, and pickled ginger, then poured the special tamago kake soy sauce and mixed it all at once. It would be better if they had something like simmered hijiki instead of mayo potato, but maybe it's cost-related. It's a wallet-friendly breakfast. In terms of breakfast price competition, it seems like they surpassed Yoshinoya, right? Yoshinoya seems to have started offering breakfast sets like one soup and three side dishes, but it feels like the content is not catching up yet. They probably haven't completely given up on the price competition yet... ( ̄ー ̄)ニヤリッ

Today I decided to skip lunch and wanted to eat something delicious. Then, Sukiya launched a limited menu! I will review the Sukiya limited menu for the first time in a while. "Mushroom Pepperoncino Beef Bowl [Regular]" for 520 yen. Salad set for 170 yen + raw egg for 60 yen, etc. It arrived. First, I took a bite without any additional toppings. It was extremely awful. "This is seriously bad. It tastes like something Gian from Doraemon would cook!" It was so disappointing that I decided to change the flavor. I added raw egg and pickled ginger. As an extra touch, I added Tabasco and 3 tablespoons of shichimi spice (removed the lid and poured it in) and mixed it all together. I took a bite and it was at a level where I couldn't even tell what I was eating anymore. Did adults really have a serious meeting and decide to sell this? Zencho (Sukiya) is a dangerous company... By the way, my friend's reaction was, "It's bad. I don't want it anymore." I ended up paying 750 yen for something like this. Thank you for the meal.

[Breakfast Series] Please take a look at the official website or photos of this morning menu (served from 5:00 to 11:00). I visited Sukiya in search of their new morning lineup. It was a diligent foreign man working alone. I ordered the following:
- Pork Ginger Stir-fry Breakfast (with Mini Rice -30 yen) 360 yen
I had anticipated that the price would be quite low, starting at 390 yen, but the actual portion exceeded my expectations. Even compared to the official Sukiya photo (1st photo) and with a raw egg for scale (3rd photo), the actual portion was surprising and difficult to convey in a photo. When the "Bacon Asparagus Breakfast" was on the menu, the quantity was unsatisfactory, but this time there was a significant difference between the menu photo and reality. I assume that ordering double the meat option could bring it closer to the official photo. However, the salad and miso soup were different. Despite the rice being too much even in the mini size, I enjoyed the rare ginger stir-fry and raw egg. I doubt this item will remain on the menu, like the "Bacon Asparagus Breakfast." In conclusion, among Sukiya's morning lineup, the "Mixed Rice Breakfast (with a choice of beef side dish)" is the best.

I had a regular gyudon (beef bowl) (350 yen) with spicy white leeks (150 yen) and tonjiru salad (pork miso soup salad) (260 yen). It was my first time at Sukiya in a while. I tried their limited-time white leek gyudon, which was delicious with the spicy sauce mixed with leeks and rice. Personally, I enjoyed the leeks and rice first, eating about one-third of the dish, and then enjoyed the meat with the remaining rice. Everyone has their own way of enjoying gyudon, so it's nice that there are different ways to enjoy it. Thank you for the meal.
