The group that was staying overnight had to return from Fukuoka Airport, so we drove to Itoshima. Our destination was Itoshima Shokudo! We were seeking the beautiful sweet shrimp bowl that is hard to come by elsewhere... We rented a car at Fukuoka Airport and first went to see Angel's Wings and the Couple Rocks, then headed to Itoshima Shokudo. We arrived at 10:58, aiming for 15 minutes before opening, but we were a bit late... There was a long line~ but we just made it in for the first round. Five of us squeezed around a small table on tatami mats, which was quite tight. We ordered using a QR code, but each person can order separately and the bill is combined for the table. After much deliberation, I stuck to my initial plan and got the sweet shrimp bowl (1600 yen including tax), and since I missed out on fried food the day before in Karato... I also added a mixed fry (shrimp, 3 oysters, and squid for 1000 yen). Well, if I can't finish it, someone will surely take it. The shining beauty of the sweet shrimp✨ I thought there would be less due to the raised bottom, but the rice was packed to the brim!! All the way to the bottom!! Mix a little sweet soy sauce with wasabi, pour it over the top. Ah, delicious. When I was in Sapporo, I used to eat a lot of sweet shrimp, but I rarely have the opportunity to eat this much. The miso soup has a gentle flavor that warms the heart, and the generous portion of Matsumae pickles that came with it goes well with the mountain of rice. The fry... The shrimp was satisfying. The oyster fry was originally unnecessary, but three was too many. (Not that special) The squid wasn't that great either. I reluctantly shared the oyster fry with my companions. The sweet shrimp bowl was good, but when I saw the visuals of the salmon and salmon roe bowl at other tables, it was amazing. Come to think of it, I couldn't eat the salmon roll in Karato... I'm probably still regretting that. Even on weekdays, there's a line from before opening, so it's best to go early and wait, or maybe visit the branch. I ate at 11:00, but I skipped dinner because I was so full... Please go on an empty stomach.
