I was planning to go to Dangoan, but ended up waiting in the car for about an hour and missed the closing time. I searched around and called to confirm that they were still open, so I went there. I had the cold meat soba for 750 yen and the yuzu-flavored drinkable kuzumochi for 700 yen. The soba had a sweet soup and didn't have the typical zaru soba taste, but it was delicious. The tea soba tasted more like zaru soba. The dessert juice had kuzu in it, so it was like eating jelly and was delicious! The top part was like milk, but it gave the sensation of eating milk pudding. The parking lot is located down the small road next to the restaurant.

This is a shop I visited every month during my walks in Akizuki. There is a cute Shiba Inu named Maro-chan. I always order the water warabi mochi and kuzu mochi with matcha set. You can enjoy the changing seasons while eating. The cozy atmosphere of the shop and there are also small souvenirs from Akizuki. I always make sure to visit when I return to Fukuoka.

In Asakura City, there is a rare delicacy called "Kawatake" that only grows in the Kogane River. Since the Edo period, the Akizuki Clan has been offering this high-class food to the shogun's family and the emperor's family. In 2006, it was finally designated as an "endangered species," a rare freshwater seaweed that is a natural treasure. The harvesting period for Kawatake is from March to August. Although I have known about its existence for a while, I have never tried it. So, I visited the "Kuromon Tea House" near the Akizuki Castle ruins with a friend to try Kawatake. We arrived at 11:20. The restaurant is located in a narrow alley, and according to Tabelog, it has parking available. When we asked the staff about the parking, they told us to use the paid parking or park across the road from the shop. We chose to park along the cherry blossom trees on the opposite side of the road. However, it was scorching hot that day, and the street was quiet with hardly any people around. The restaurant had a traditional Japanese storefront with souvenirs displayed. Inside, there were wooden tables and a nostalgic retro atmosphere. Since we were the first customers, we chose a table by the window. We ordered the "Kawatake set meal (1,800 yen, tax included)." The meal included Kawatake rice, Kawatake konjac, and Kawatake vinegar dish, incorporating Kawatake in various ways. The Kawatake itself was a translucent green color with a unique firm texture. It didn't have a strong smell but paired well with other ingredients. Rather than focusing on the taste, it felt like experiencing the seasons of Chikugo through this rare ingredient, similar to the feeling of enjoying "Etsu." Lately, I have been drawn to Japanese dishes that highlight nature and ingredients. It was a delightful meal.

This is a shop located in Akizuki, Asakura City, hidden away from the main tourist street. The interior is designed in a traditional Japanese house style, with plenty of local specialties available for takeout, such as kuzumochi. I've only described the atmosphere, so whether or not to go is up to you. 🚶‍♀️

Visited as a conclusion to a stroll around the autumn moon. The interior of the shop has an old folk house style, giving off a nostalgic and elegant atmosphere. There was even a dog in the garden. I ordered matcha and water warabi mochi. Although the kuzu mochi is famous, my companion recommended this. The matcha has a fragrant tea leaf aroma and a moderate bitterness that spreads in the mouth. It is very delicious. The water warabi mochi, you can eat as many as you want. (laughs) Seriously, I could eat them endlessly. Both were extremely delicious.

My spouse and I visited the restaurant together. It was a little after 1 pm on a Saturday. We waited for about 15 minutes as there were many customers and the staff seemed quite busy. We ordered soba with toppings and a matcha with mochi set. We asked for the meal to be served first, followed by the matcha with mochi set, but they brought the matcha set first. The person sitting next to us had ordered the same thing and also received the matcha set first. I wondered if they were not listening to customers, but perhaps they were just very busy. The soba was decently delicious, although I wasn't very hungry, I managed to finish it all. The mochi, which they brought out again later, was sweet but light and tasty. The matcha set was a good deal, with just the right balance of sweetness and bitterness. However, I couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed with the service, as it seemed like a simple request to serve the meal first.

After enjoying the cherry blossoms in Akizuki, Asakura City, I took a break at a tea house. I checked the menu and decided to try the Kuzumochi set for 320 yen, which came with 5 pieces of kuzumochi and matcha. If you opt for the set with black honey and kinako, you get 3 pieces of kuzumochi instead. The kuzumochi was dense and delicious, not like the usual light and fluffy ones you might get as souvenirs. It had a red bean paste filling. Overall, I would rate it 32/50 for taste, 10/20 for cost performance, 11/20 for atmosphere, and 7/10 for service. When you add it all up, the likelihood of me returning would be 60/100. The restaurant is located at 684-20946-25-0492, Notori, Akizuki, Asakura City, Fukuoka Prefecture.

After exploring all the favorite spots in Akizuki, it was time for the customary tea break, so we decided to visit Kuromon Tea House this time. The shop had a folk art style that blended well with the castle town. The staff, like in other shops, were elderly women working hard, sitting and waiting for customers to come in. When we entered, they quickly stood up and showed us to our seats. The interior of the shop was spacious and had a calming pure Japanese design. They brought us plenty of tea in a teapot, allowing us to drink without any hesitation. We ordered the Kuzu Mochi with matcha set for 540 yen. The Kuzu Mochi was soft and chewy, generously topped with kinako powder, and paired perfectly with the refreshing sweetness of the black syrup. The amount of black syrup was also generous. As we drank the matcha, we felt our fatigue melt away. When visiting Akizuki, it's always enjoyable to think about which sweet shop to visit next.

Located in the middle of the cherry blossom-lined street that is the main attraction of Akizuki, this restaurant offers a traditional Japanese dining experience. The entrance features a souvenir shop, while the dining area to the left offers a quiet and cozy atmosphere with tatami floor seating. The menu mainly consists of Japanese cuisine, including soba noodles, mountain vegetables, and fish. One recommended dish is the "Nyumen Teishoku" for 630 yen, which includes two rice balls, a small side dish, and warm "nyumen" noodles in a light and flavorful broth. Another option is the "Kawatake Sunomono" for 400 yen, a unique dish made with locally sourced river mushrooms and seaweed in a vinegar-based marinade. Despite being a tourist spot, this restaurant stands out as a rare find along the street with limited dining options.
