I think it's more like an izakaya style. Hmm, they don't really focus on customer service. I ordered the ramen set meal! Personally, I think everything is more like for commercial use. I didn't specify the firmness of the noodles, but they were too soft. Maybe the gyoza is the kind you can buy at the supermarket. Thank you for the meal!

This place was an amazing restaurant! If you're nearby, you should definitely check it out. Just a heads up, it's not for impatient people, so go in with an open mind and enjoy the experience. I didn't realize there was an Isshintei here too! I actually went to the one in Hakata yesterday, and it was quite different (lol). Thank you for the meal! When they bring out the gyoza, it's like they're sliding it across a bar counter, haha.

Cheers♪ I said goodbye to my nephew Sou-kun, who came from Toyama Prefecture to Fukuoka Prefecture for further studies, and escorted him from my house to the dormitory near the university. It was his first time living alone, so I was nervous too. We decided to have lunch at Isshinte, a retro-style restaurant I found on Tabelog near the university. The owner, an elderly man, was running the restaurant alone and seemed a bit unfriendly, but that was fine. There were two tables and three people at the counter, mostly male customers. We ordered the ramen set and waited for it to be served. While waiting, some regular customers came in and placed their orders. The atmosphere in the restaurant was nostalgic, with a hint of Showa era. The daily special was a generous portion of stir-fried dish with rice, which surprised us. The ramen arrived, and it tasted just like the retro ramen from the Showa era, with no option to choose noodle firmness. The fried rice was also simple and delicious. We enjoyed our meal and left satisfied. We thanked the owner and promised to come back to try the set meal or dumplings next time. Unfortunately, due to the impact of COVID-19, my nephew's entrance ceremony was canceled, and classes were postponed. He had to return to Toyama Prefecture before the state of emergency was declared in Fukuoka Prefecture. Now, he is taking online classes in Toyama, and we are unsure when he will be able to go back to the university. Damn you, COVID-19! Don't give up!

Today's lunch is my first visit to Issen-tei in Arai, Iizuka City. It is located along National Route 201, right in front of Home Plaza Nafco, so it is relatively easy to find. The exterior has a traditional Japanese style. It seems like they have been rooted in this area for a long time and are working hard. The interior is quite spacious with counter seats, table seats, and a raised seating area. It seems to be run by a couple, as the proprietress kindly guided me to a warmer table seat saying, "This side has a stove and is warmer." There were many set meals to choose from, but I ordered the Chuka-don set meal (ramen + Chuka-don for 790 yen). The food arrived in about 3 minutes, so let's dig in. The soup is white with a slight layer of oil on top. It might be lard? It has a mild pork bone flavor with a slight sweetness. It is quite light in taste. There is no distinct pork bone odor. The saltiness of the seasoning is just right. The noodles are square-shaped with a slightly thick texture, which is rare in the Chikugo area. The noodles are on the softer side but have a chewy texture and a good throat feel. The toppings include 2 slices of chashu, bean sprouts, chopped green onions, half a boiled egg, and wood ear mushrooms, keeping it simple. The Chuka-don is a full-size portion, not a half-size as I expected. It comes with cabbage, onions, green onions, carrots, pork, and eggs, without any seafood. The seasoning of the sauce is perfect. However, some of the vegetables seem overcooked and burnt in places. The portion size was amazing. I was so full that I couldn't move. The ramen is a gentle option for the stomach, making it perfect for a satisfying meal after drinking. And the cost performance is excellent. A bowl of ramen for 430 yen is incredible in this day and age. With a variety of set meals and menu options, I will definitely become a regular customer and try various dishes. Thank you for the meal.

I had some business at a nearby car dealership and decided to stop by for lunch since I had some time to spare. Lately, I've been feeling like I haven't been getting enough vegetables at year-end parties and such, so I decided to order the Chinese rice set to be mindful of my stomach. However, when the dish arrived, it was ramen instead. I was a bit surprised, but then I noticed that underneath "Chinese rice set" on the menu, it said "(Chinese rice, ramen)". I had assumed that the set would come with a salad or some fried chicken since it was a set meal. It felt a bit heavy for me today. The Chinese rice had a soy sauce-based sauce with vegetables and pork, while the ramen had a mild soup. I couldn't finish the soup, but overall it tasted like the typical flavor you would find at a local Chinese restaurant. Thank you for the meal.

Located along National Route 201 in Iizuka City (formerly Shonai Town), "Toba Isshinte" is a ramen shop that has been around for a long time. The shop also serves Chinese cuisine. The interior of the shop has a nostalgic atmosphere, making you feel like you have traveled back in time to the Showa era. The ramen (400 yen) has a slightly light pork bone flavor, reminiscent of old-school ramen shops. However, the must-try item is the wonton ramen, which is priced at a surprisingly low 450 yen in this day and age, when ramen shops typically charge around 700 yen. The combination of the nostalgic atmosphere, old-fashioned taste, and affordable price of the wonton ramen is truly impressive. Why not give it a try? In terms of public transportation, you can reach the shop from the "Iizuka Bus Center" on the Nishitetsu bus line, or from the "Shin-Iizuka Station" bus stop on the Nishitetsu express bus line, which is located right in front of Shin-Iizuka Station on the JR Chikuho Main Line (Fukuhoku Yutaka Line) and the JR Gotoji Line.
