Here is a review of a visit to a fisherman's hut in Chofuna Temple in early May. The place is located near the Kyushu University Research City station. It was a sunny day when we arrived around noon, and we were the only customers. We greeted the familiar lady and young man working there and sat in a special seat at the back left. The menu was not even needed as I immediately ordered my favorite live squid sashimi and a beer. The squid was fresh and delicious. I also ordered some amberjack simmered in broth and a seafood salad with a fresh dressing. The amberjack was huge and full of collagen around the eyes. I enjoyed about five beers before leaving. By the time we left, the place was full of families and office workers having lunch. As we were leaving, I peeked into the live tank and saw oysters, but unfortunately, they were sold out. I decided that the next gathering would have to be focused on oysters. By the way, this place allows smoking even during lunch hours.

During a trip to Fukuoka, we found a restaurant where you can enjoy sashimi from midday onwards. This place is a seafood izakaya where you can eat fish caught by local fishermen. Although the restaurant was supposed to open at 11:00 according to Tabelog, when we arrived at 11:25 it was still closed. Eventually, around 8 people, including us, lined up and the restaurant opened at 11:30. As soon as we entered, we were greeted by a large tank filled with live fish, taking up almost as much space as the seating area. It was quite impressive for a small restaurant. We sat in a tatami room and requested squid and mackerel sashimi. The staff recommended a medium-sized Japanese flying squid and a high-quality mackerel. When we placed our order, the kitchen staff immediately caught the fish from the tank. The Japanese flying squid sashimi was thick and had a nice sweetness to it compared to spear squid. The mackerel was served half raw and half seared. The seared mackerel with a sprinkle of ground sesame and green onions was delicious. They also made tempura out of the squid tentacles and served miso soup with mackerel bones, providing a satisfying meal without needing extra rice. It was a luxurious lunch experience, and we were completely satisfied with the bill of 8000 yen for two people. Although slightly away from the city center, this restaurant is definitely worth a visit for tourists.

I came to eat seafood bowl at a fisherman's hut after watching the second son's high school baseball practice game at Fukuoka University Ohoi Hardball Baseball Club grounds. The price went up a bit to 1,200 yen plus tax, but it was delicious and reasonable with fresh swordfish sashimi on top!

As soon as I entered the restaurant, it was chaotic! First of all, they didn't have the live squid sashimi that they were supposed to be known for. The staff didn't come to take our order right away. They wouldn't respond even when we called out to them. They seemed too busy and only came over after we called out multiple times. The food was okay, nothing special. The restaurant had a big fish tank in the middle, creating a fisherman's hut atmosphere as the name suggests! The menu was limited and there wasn't anything I really wanted to eat. The taxi driver mentioned that both tourists and locals come here a lot. By the way, the elderly lady at the next table who struck up a conversation with us seemed to be a local and she said that Itoshima is a nice place.

When entering the store, you can immediately see the large fish tank with fresh ingredients. I had the sashimi set, which included 5 varieties for 1,000 yen, a great deal! Even better, you can get a whole live squid sashimi for 1,980 yen. They also made tempura with the fish scraps, which was delicious. Nearby customers looked envious.

When it comes to Saga, you think of squid from Yobuko. When heading from Saga to Fukuoka, I really wanted to eat fresh squid, so I searched and found this restaurant. The first thing that caught my eye was the fish swimming energetically in the fish tank. They raise squid and fish directly from Yobuko in the fish tank, and cook them fresh for customers. On this day, I ordered Squid Sashimi (¥2625), Seafood Bowl (¥945), and Fisherman's Hut Set Meal (¥1575). When the squid sashimi was served, it was still so fresh that you could see the blood circulating and it was twitching. The flesh was very transparent, with a light umami flavor when eaten and a slight chewy texture when bitten, truly high-quality squid. The sashimi in the seafood bowl and set meal was also incredibly fresh and delicious...! I thoroughly enjoyed both the Yobuko squid and Fukuoka seafood, and left completely satisfied.

The restaurant was bustling even at night and seemed to be very popular among the locals. It was quite busy when we arrived, so it took a while for our order to be taken, but the staff were very polite. We ordered dishes like raw filefish and live squid, and we were very satisfied. I would definitely go back to this restaurant when I crave delicious seafood.

I visited the restaurant after hearing good reviews. The atmosphere was very welcoming and I had a feeling that the seafood would be delicious. The staff were friendly and my expectations were high. I ordered the Fisherman's Hut Set Meal, oyster fry, and squid sashimi. Everything was fresh and tasty, and I left feeling satisfied. I definitely want to visit this restaurant with my family next time.

Fisherman's hut visible from the Imazu Street. It may not stand out, but there is a certain charm to this shop. I always wanted to visit someday, and unexpectedly, I found myself going there for lunch. It's always a bit nerve-wracking to enter a new restaurant, isn't it? Is it due to COVID measures? The entrance of the shop is open, with a large fish tank in front and alcohol placed there. I put on some hand sanitizer and took my seat. This precaution is something I appreciate. So, I decided to order the seafood bowl from the lunch menu. As I entered the shop and placed my order, I thought, "I want to come back at night!" Being a fan of sake, I noticed a variety of delicious sake brands lined up. Fishermen really do know their good sake. While waiting for about 10 minutes, the seafood bowl arrived. It's not overly generous in portion size, but just right for a satisfying meal. It's more about savoring the flavors than eating a lot. The bowl comes with miso soup, which is a nice touch. It was a delicious meal. There are other tempting dishes like squid on the menu, so I'll be back for dinner next time. Thank you for the meal.

Last time I came here, I didn't know the opening hours had changed, so I had to wait. I had seafood bowl last time, but this time I was interested in a menu item, so I drove on the regular road to visit. It took me 90 minutes by car to get to Fukutsuji in Nishi-ku, Fukuoka City. I had to save on toll fees. When I visit another day, the hybrid car's good fuel efficiency will come in handy. This time, I visited on a weekday around 12:00 pm and sat in a raised seating area. I ordered the sushi set meal for 1300 yen including tax (sushi, tempura, chawanmushi, side dish, miso soup included). For this price, the contents were luxurious. Having sushi and tempura is great. The food was served in less than 10 minutes. The sushi on the plate included sea bream, yellowtail, octopus, bigeye tuna, and salmon, 6 pieces in total. The size was small, and the sushi rice was firmly packed. It seems like they use a sushi-making machine. The vinegar rice was slightly weak. I couldn't taste any sourness. Please think of the toppings as ordinary. The bigeye tuna was almost falling apart when served. The tempura was amazing. It included shrimp, kisu fish, eggplant, carrot, sweet potato pumpkin, and green pepper, a total of 7 items. The kisu fish tempura was big, but the texture felt like it was frozen. It lacked the fluffy feeling. The overall content was decent, but it felt like it was fried too much. I could eat it without any complaints. The side dish included chicken, konjac, wood ear mushroom, and edamame lightly seasoned. I wish they had informed me about the seasoning. The chawanmushi had peeled shrimp, shiitake mushroom, fish cake, and ginkgo nuts. I felt a strong seasoning at the bottom of the container. Overall, this was the content, but I wonder if it's appropriate to call it a sushi set meal. The sushi seems disappointed. Maybe a sushi and tempura set meal would be better. The tempura was decent, but the sushi left a lot to be desired.

Good evening, this is a farewell dinner for the senior members of the track and field team. As soon as you walk in, you are greeted by a huge "fish tank". Seeing these lively fish swimming around, one can't help but get excited at the thought of them ending up in our mouths in a few minutes. Each of us ordered a main dish, along with some squid and thread-sail filefish sashimi to share. I opted for the "Fisherman's Hut Set Meal" tempura version. This meal included 4 types of sashimi such as salmon and octopus, vegetables and (probably) thread-sail filefish tempura, chawanmushi, and u-no-hana, all of which were thoroughly enjoyable. I was the only one who ordered this set, but I couldn't help but feel sorry for the others who couldn't enjoy it. The price was around 1600 yen, but it was definitely worth it. The squid sashimi was served while its legs were still moving, allowing us to witness its final resistance before succumbing to the food chain. The head sashimi had a satisfying crunchy texture, and the legs were grilled with salt and all were delicious. The thread-sail filefish was the MVP of the night for me personally, and as a lover of fish innards, eating it with its liver was a delight. A night of gratitude to the fish.

I found out on Tabelog that you can eat a seafood bowl for 900 yen. Even though the place is far, if you like seafood bowls, you have to go. I was attracted to the name of the restaurant, thinking it must be near the sea. I immediately took action and crossed over the mountain to get there. Although using the urban expressway would be faster, I chose to save money, so the expressway toll cost me 620 yen. The basic information on the official website of the restaurant stated that it opens at 11:00. Considering the distance, I could roughly calculate the arrival time. The place is located in Chofunji, Nishi-ku, Fukuoka City, along the national highway, next to Itoshima City, at the outskirts of Fukuoka City. It was disappointing that it wasn't by the sea. I arrived before 11:00 on a weekday. Obviously, the curtain was not up. Even after the scheduled time, the curtain was still not up, so I called and found out they open at 11:30. Until the curtain goes up, you have to wait in the parking lot. But they seemed to have noticed I was waiting, so they put up the curtain a little early. I was the first customer to enter. Inside the restaurant, there was a fish tank right in front of me. All the seats were on a raised platform. I took off my shoes and sat down. I had already decided to order the seafood bowl (with miso soup) for 900 yen including tax. I saw two men in the kitchen. The floor manager seemed to be the owner's wife, a woman in her 50s. She brought me hot tea and a cloth towel while I waited for the food. About 10 minutes later, the food was served. The rice in the bowl was a bit small, topped with chopped seaweed, tuna, sea bream, octopus, salmon, and hirasu fish, with a little salmon roe on top. It was garnished with shredded omelet and cucumber, and sesame dressing was drizzled over it. The sea bream was a bit thin, but fresh, so it wasn't bad. The salmon seemed to be Chilean and frozen, and the hirasu fish was surprisingly fatty and delicious. The miso soup only had tofu in it, with some green onions on top, but it was a bit bland and salty. However, humans always crave salt. I drank it all. I'm not sure if 900 yen is reasonable for this meal, but I'm curious about the sushi set for 1300 yen. I wonder if I should come back again. By the time it was almost noon, more customers started coming in. It seems that there are a lot of people who love fish.

~ Indigo-dyed Tanuki, currently on a strict diet ~ Main restrictions: wheat, meat, eggs, dairy products, spicy food, sweet food (processed), cold food (including room temperature) [November 18, 2018 (Sunday)] This is my first time posting, but it's a restaurant I have visited a few times before. (The first time was about 10 years ago maybe?!) I entered the restaurant a little after 2:00 PM. We ordered: ◆ <Me> Grilled Fish Set 800 yen... Grilled fish (mackerel that day), chawanmushi, side dish (spinach and shiitake mushroom ohitashi), miso soup, rice, pickles. The fish was cooked just right and tasted delicious. ◆ <Husband & Daughter> Fry Set 1,000 yen... Fry (2 shrimp, 2 horse mackerel, 2 squid rings), chawanmushi, side dish (same as above), rice, pickles. It seemed a bit lacking for my husband and daughter to share, but they were able to get a rice refill, so they were satisfied for the time being.

When you go to Hakata, you must try the squid in Yobuko, but even if you don't go that far, you can still enjoy the delicious food in Hakata. The squid tentacles are delicious as tempura, and the kawahagi fish is tasty and rich in flavor. Eating kawahagi with ponzu sauce makes the flesh crispy and the flavor intense and rich.

The atmosphere was nice and the food was very delicious. My partner and I ordered seafood bowls and while the rice portion for my partner was normal or slightly larger, I was surprised to see that mine was automatically served with a smaller portion just because I am a woman. My partner couldn't finish their rice as they don't eat much, so I ended up sharing and finishing it. I had heard about this kind of thing happening in restaurants before, but experiencing it firsthand was shocking. I think the amount of rice should be confirmed regardless of gender when taking orders. The food was tasty, but this was very disappointing, so I rate it 1 star.
