Udon Restaurant Ikki @ Imamiya / Chicken Tempura and Fish Cake Tempura on Rice On a Friday, as I have the day off, instead of lounging around at home, I decided to visit a new restaurant that I've been wanting to try - Udon Restaurant Ikki. Imamiya is not a place I usually visit, so even though I've been wanting to go for a while, it's been hard to make the trip. But I realized I need to make the effort before the restaurant closes down without me ever going, which seems to be happening more often lately. I took the subway from Namba to Dobutsuen-mae, then transferred to the JR line to Imamiya. However, I accidentally got on the Kansai Airport Rapid train and skipped Imamiya, ending up at Taisho (laughs). I had to transfer again to get back to Imamiya. The restaurant is located in an area where residential areas and factories mix together. There were 9 people waiting in front of the restaurant, but luckily I didn't have to wait long before being seated (not that I was keeping track). I already knew what I wanted to eat, so I ordered the large Chicken Tempura on Rice and Fish Cake Tempura. Before the main dishes arrived, they brought out chopped green onions and ginger for seasoning. You have to grate the ginger yourself according to your preference. After a short wait, the dishes were served. The broth for the Chicken Tempura on Rice was dark in color, but surprisingly light and refreshing in taste. The noodles were flat and had a texture somewhere between chewy and firm, providing a satisfying bite. The Chicken Tempura was tender, but not exactly to my liking. The Fish Cake Tempura was firm and delicious with every bite. The egg yolk was rich and gooey, adding to the overall flavor. Overall, apart from the Chicken Tempura not being my favorite, I enjoyed everything else and found it to be delicious. It seems like this restaurant specializes in kettle-cooked udon, so I might come back to try that when the weather gets colder.

Arrived at 7:30 am for the limited Saturday morning special of curry udon for 650 yen and side dish rice for 150 yen. The place was already full, but I managed to get in after waiting outside for about 10 minutes as the second in line. The curry udon was delicious with lots of ingredients, and most customers seemed to have ordered it as well. The service was quick, with the food served in about 4 minutes after ordering.

I visited during lunchtime. Once again, I ordered the limited edition dish! This restaurant is known for its delicious noodles! You can fully enjoy the chewiness, firmness, and flavor. The limited edition dish is only available in limited quantities, so I recommend going early. The limited menu changes regularly, so I look forward to my next visit! Thank you for the meal!

Arrived at 7:40 am on a weekend morning. There were about 10 people waiting ahead of me. Waited for 20 minutes and got a seat at the counter. I ordered the "kama-age udon (large)" (500 yen) and "mixed rice" (150 yen). The food was served in less than 10 minutes. I took the pickles and kelp placed on the table onto a plate. The udon looked delicious from the start. Grated the ginger and added plenty of green onions. I was worried if they could make a profit with this much. Dip the udon in the broth and slurp it up. It was really delicious. The broth had a stronger soy sauce flavor than bonito, in my opinion. With lots of condiments, I kept enjoying it. The mixed rice was okay. Considering it was only 650 yen for both dishes, the cost performance was too good to be true. The staff's service was also good. But this noodle dish is so tasty, it must go well with curry. I'll try the curry udon next time. It was incredibly delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I came across a shockingly delicious curry udon. It is a limited menu item at Kamayaki Udon Ikki near Imamiya Station, called the "serious" curry udon. When I asked the staff what makes it serious, they said it's curry udon topped with tempura. You can choose from various tempura options, such as chicken, fish cake, or egg, and I chose chicken. The freshly fried tempura was delicious. As for the curry broth, it had a strong spice aroma but was perfectly balanced with the dashi broth. The udon had a good texture and a smooth mouthfeel, making it a high-quality curry udon. I usually like to add various condiments to my curry udon for flavor variation, but this dish was so delicious that I didn't want to change anything. It would surely go well with rice too. I ordered this on a very hot day, and after finishing it, I felt refreshed as the sweat started pouring out. Despite thinking that not many people would order a spicy curry udon on a hot day, I noticed other customers ordering the same dish while I was there, showing its popularity. They also offer a set menu with kama tamago curry udon or curry rice with udon. Although I live in Tokyo and can't visit often, this is a place I would love to try other dishes at. Among all the curry udon I've tried nationwide, this one easily ranks in my top five for its high-quality and delicious flavor.

In addition to the regular menu, there are also limited-time menu items available periodically. This time, I visited aiming for the limited menu. As expected, the restaurant was full, but I waited for about 30 minutes to get a seat. The kombu (kelp) and small fish placed on the table were incredibly delicious! This time, I tried a dish that combined Nasu (Japanese eggplant) tempura with pork in ponzu sauce. It was a feast! Thank you for the meal!

I went for the third time, after about a year! I arrived right when the restaurant opened on a weekday and was the third in line!! I usually have curry udon at noodle shops, so I hesitated a bit, but ended up getting the curry udon - a limited edition of 10 servings of ★Serious Curry Udon with Tempura Egg Topping★ Cold Soy Sauce Udon★ Mixed Rice First, I had the cold soy sauce udon! The noodles were thick, glossy, and slightly flat when lifted with chopsticks. While waiting for the udon, green onions and ginger were brought over. I sprinkled a little ginger and tried it first! "Mmm!! It's chewy and smooth." I think it has quite a bit of elasticity. The flavor of the udon noodles is delicious. The serious curry udon comes with additional toppings of tempura egg, along with eggplant tempura, shrimp tempura, pumpkin tempura, fish cake tempura, and shredded seaweed on top!! The udon noodles for the curry were a bit softer, maybe because of the curry sauce? The curry was thick and had a moderate level of spiciness, like medium spicy. All the tempura were delicious. The fish cake tempura had a strong flavor, and the shredded seaweed was becoming addictive, which is good. The mixed rice looked visually and tasted too strong for me, but it was only 150 yen, so cheap!! I bought ice cream on my way back and ate it in front of the shop. The portion size was good for the price. Thank you for the meal!

The udon noodles here are delicious! I ordered the limited menu item, "Bibin noodles," which comes with pork, spinach, lemon, soft-boiled egg, and kimchi toppings. The sauce has just the right amount of spiciness, which increases your appetite. Before you know it, you'll have finished it all. I definitely want to visit this udon restaurant again. This was delicious! I always order the kama-tama style at Kame Seimen. Here, it's different from that famous noodle shop! The rich egg! The noodles are so yellow from being coated so much! And the sweet and spicy beef, and the spiciness of the green onions match perfectly! I ordered the regular size, but maybe they gave me a small size? It said 2 portions in a regular size, but I finished it easily haha I'm so full now! If they had a parking lot, I would come back! It was a great udon shop! Thank you for the meal!

I trained at the famous restaurant "Itchuu" in Yao. I know it's not fair to compare it to Itchuu, but I can't help it. The kettle-cooked udon and mixed rice are very similar to Itchuu. The noodles are slightly flatter than Itchuu's. The broth is similar (especially when you add a lot of green onions, fried tempura bits, and sesame seeds - it's delicious. I remember doing the same at Itchuu). I'll stop comparing here and just say that it's simply delicious. There are other menu items besides kettle-cooked udon that I want to try. The mixed rice is incredibly delicious. It goes really well with the udon.

After GW, on a Monday afternoon in Nishinari, I was looking for something delicious to eat. I decided to walk a bit and ended up at Kamayaki Udon Ikki. It was around 12:40 PM and there were 4 people waiting in front of the restaurant. Since I was dining alone, I sat at the counter. I ordered the small portion of their special curry udon, which is limited to 10 servings per day. I also noticed a sign on the wall advertising Ebi-Ten (shrimp tempura), so I decided to add 2 pieces to my order. The curry and pumpkin tempura were delicious. The small Ebi-Ten was also very tasty. It reminded me of the tempura soba I had in Ginza the day before, which cost 3300 yen (although I didn't actually eat it). I added some tempura flakes to my curry udon, which had a thick and flavorful curry sauce. I finished every last bite and it was a satisfying meal. The smooth and chewy udon, rich curry, and crispy Ebi-Ten were all delicious. I will definitely visit again!

I visited Ichiki-san, who I had been curious about for a while. I tried their signature kettle-cooked udon, and it was as good as the reviews said - shiny and chewy noodles with plenty of condiments. The only downside was the small and crowded interior, but it was worth waiting in line for the delicious udon. Overall, I was satisfied with my meal.

A visit around 11 o'clock on Monday, the taste is consistently good. Today, the curry udon with white rice was delicious. Both the udon and curry were tasty. Personally, I think it's a bit expensive to pay over 1,000 yen for curry udon and white rice, but it's delicious so it can't be helped. There were no disappointing udon.

I visited here on a Sunday morning. The curry udon here is seriously delicious. The curry, with the meat oil melted in, goes perfectly with the udon. Despite the lack of nearby attractions, the udon here attracts people for its delicious taste. The restaurant's open layout and friendly staff create a welcoming atmosphere. The udon, known for its thick and thin noodles, is a must-try, especially the signature kettle-cooked udon. The unique flavors of the menu items set this place apart from others. The homemade soy sauce udon I ordered had a firm texture and a pleasant bounce, although the sweetness of the homemade sauce wasn't to my liking. Overall, I enjoyed the udon and appreciated the charm of the homemade noodles.

Since I was already there, I decided to look for a place to eat in Nishinari and came across a restaurant called Kamayaki Udon Ikki. I usually prefer soba over udon, but lately I've been wanting to discover delicious udon, so it was perfect. Even though it was around 11 o'clock on a Saturday, there was already a line. After waiting for about 10 minutes, I was able to enter the restaurant. There were various menu options, making it difficult to decide, but I chose the Niku Kamatama Udon. I also ordered the Kayaku Gohan. The udon looked shiny and beautiful. And all of this for only 950 yen, which seems quite cheap. Branding is not just about making things look good or profitable. It's about standing out and making a lasting impression. Udon has never been considered trendy or fashionable, especially with the traditional standing udon shops. However, in today's age of Instagrammable photos, creating a stylish image can be a key branding strategy.

I visited this udon restaurant after the one I originally planned to go to was unexpectedly closed. Despite some menu items being sold out, I decided to try the Kamaage Katsu Tsukemen and Chiku Tama Tempura Bukkake. The noodles were thin but still had a good texture, and the dipping sauce had a nice balance of sweetness and citrusy acidity. The broth for the tempura udon was also flavorful without being too heavy. Overall, even though I had to settle for a different type of noodles than I prefer, I enjoyed the food and thought the restaurant had a variety of tasty options to offer.

On a holiday Saturday, feeling like having udon, I headed to this shop where I was drawn to the limited-time "shippoku" but ended up ordering the Kama-age Udon Special (tax included 800 yen). The smooth noodle texture was enjoyable, although the noodles were a bit soft today. However, they didn't become mushy and I could still enjoy them until the end. The soup, as always, had a strong flavor of dried sardines which was excellent. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.
