Kogashi butter cake, 5 pieces for 710 yen, for home and souvenirs. Makes you want to buy when you see it, haha. Originally planned to buy mitarashi, but my mother said mochi sticks to her teeth, so we went with cake. Rich buttery aroma, can eat as many as you want. They said it's fine as is, but put it in a paper bag as we can't sample it... They included a cute 2-piece sample of mitarashi. That will go in my mother's paper bag... My brother will probably eat it, haha.

Established in Meiji 25, this is a local traditional Japanese confectionery shop. They are known for their yellow bean paste Yokan called "Ukon", white bean paste Yokan called "Sengoku", and the famous Izumi specialty sweet "Murashigure". There are many confectionery shops named "Murashigure" in the area. The upside-down Mitarashi dango is a popular souvenir. Nowadays, they also offer Western-style sweets. I enjoyed the Coffee Shigure along with the Sencha Midori sold in the store. The Murashigure with a mild sweetness paired with the slightly bitter coffee Yokan was delicious. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

I received some butter sablé cookies from a colleague at work. I love this type of cookie, so I could eat as many as I want! It's sweet, but not too sweet, and has a nice flavor. I think it would be popular with everyone.

I felt like eating Mukashin's manju, so I decided to stop by. Due to the season, I found a cherry blossom-flavored dorayaki and Ukon. The red bean paste had pickled cherry blossoms in it, giving it a delicious sweet and salty taste. Thank you for the meal today! ☺️

In Sakai, the popular "Kogashi Butter Cake" has a nostalgic taste that warms your heart. I was surprised to find out that it is made by a Japanese confectionery shop. I would love to try not only the Kogashi Butter Cake but also their traditional Japanese sweets. As someone who loves dried fruits, my favorite is the pineapple cake. I recommend trying a set that includes a mix of both!

Image blog ⇒ "http://kouji328.blog59.fc2.com/blog-entry-2639.html" The representative confectionery of Osaka Izumisano, "Mukashin," founded in 1925, is the "Original Osaka Mitarashi Dango," which wraps sweet and savory soy sauce sauce in dumpling dough. The gift I received was the "Kogashi Butter Cake" with 6 pieces for 840 yen. The bookmark inside the box clearly states that the manufacturing and sales store is the "Hagurasaki Store." It seems that the selling point is that it is passed down by an Austrian master. The burnt butter flavor with a hint of hand-squeezed lemon juice... I didn't notice it at all. Well, it's an old-fashioned Western confectionery. Even if they say it's a butter flavor, it's normal these days... or rather, it feels more nostalgic to say it's an old-fashioned taste. The sugar melted and lightly spread on the surface is crunchy. It's like a castella dough or madeleine dough, not too dry, and fluffy and elegant. The sweetness is also old-fashioned, so I wash down one piece with two cups of coffee. If you want to relax with a strong black coffee, this one is not for you. My wife bluntly said, "Average"... Indeed. 72 points.

Founded in the 25th year of the Meiji era, this place is famous for its Osaka-style mitarashi dango and azemochi. I wasn't familiar with it, but a friend from southern Osaka said it's famous. I jumped at the chance to try it and it was delicious. The buttery aroma was so good, and it wasn't too sticky, more like a madeleine or burnt butter cake. It was really tasty. The castella was fluffy and moist. It was also very delicious. The packaging is cute too. Please buy it again. Thank you for the treat.

At Kansai Airport parking lot, KYOKO-san was quite surprised to meet a Beetle for the first time. I was also surprised that she hadn't been reading this blog recently, but it wasn't a big deal so I stayed quiet about it. The Beetle had run out of oil and the warning light came on while we were on the highway, so I was quite anxious. We quickly got off the Kansai Ohashi Bridge to find a car shop or gas station. We drove around Rinku Town and found a tire shop next to Toyota Nets. We were able to get oil refilled there. It was a little past noon. KYOKO-san had already had lunch on the plane, and I wasn't particularly hungry either. So, we decided to take a break at a nearby shop that seemed to sell snacks and tea called "Mukashin." They had a specialty called "Kogashi Butter Cake." We ordered the cake and tea set and sat on the sofa set in the back of the shop. There was a model ship in front of us, maybe a Sanjukisen? We relaxed and ate the snacks while waiting, thanks to the tea. KYOKO-san talked about her work, which I could now understand better, and also about a strange boy from her colleague who graduated from the University of Tokyo. Suddenly, a tour bus arrived or a group of people arrived. At first, I thought they were Chinese tourists buying Japanese sweets as souvenirs, but they turned out to be Japanese tourists. It took a while to realize this after observing them closely. It seems that Chinese tourists' clothing has caught up with the average Japanese, but attitudes may still differ. The tourists continued to arrive, and the staff started discussing how to handle the situation, such as whether to give out balloons. It seemed like a good time for us to leave, so we got up. KYOKO-san went back to the register to buy more snacks for her company members or as souvenirs. We didn't need cake and coffee, as we were able to have a peaceful conversation with just Japanese flavors. KYOKO-san had arrived just over an hour ago. We returned to the tire shop across the street, where the oil refill was already done, and we finally set off on our way back. RinNon was taking the English proficiency test in Shanghai, and apart from a stern phone call that KYOKO-san had, it was a smooth start for both of us. We are grateful to Mukashin as well. Today is Children's Day, a holiday in Japan known as "Kodomo no Hi." To celebrate, I tried the kashiwa mochi from "Mukashin." The kashiwa mochi here is a bit small, but the red bean paste inside is light and delicious. Actually, all the traditional Japanese sweets here are tasty. I always have them sent from Osaka because they don't offer online shopping. The kashiwa mochi, salted red bean daifuku, and various types of rice cakes are all delicious. Personally, I think the "aze daifuku" is exceptional. I hope they open a store in Kurashiki someday. The kashiwa mochi was delicious. So yummy!

Today, I woke up late in the morning and felt a bit lazy to go out to Osaka city, so I decided to take a walk to Rinku Premium Outlets. Along the way, my wife spotted a store called Mukashin and we decided to make a stop. In southern Osaka, there is a fierce battle between Aoki Shofuan and Mukashin for dominance. In Nara, Aoki Shofuan seems to have the upper hand with a different brand. Personally, I don't dislike traditional Japanese sweets, but I don't eat them often as I prefer butter and cream which seem unhealthy. I came across a cake that won the Gold Award in Monde Selection, said to be passed down by an Austrian master. It looked delicious so I bought it along with some Yomogi Daifuku. On the way back, we visited my wife's family and offered them the Japanese sweets for a taste test. The butter cake was tasty but not mind-blowing. Apparently, Monde Selection is a prestigious award from Belgium with a high entry fee and most winners are from Japan. The Yomogi Daifuku was delicious. The store gets a thumbs up for that. The Sen Gokumochi had white bean paste inside, no special comments on that. Perhaps, they should have won with their traditional Japanese sweets for the Monde Selection award instead?

My wife impulsively ordered a product called "Dorattozzo" after seeing it featured on Mezamashi TV. It's a combination of the trendy "Maritzzo" and "dorayaki"! It comes in flavors like "plain," "matcha," and "tiramisu." The appearance is like Maritzzo, but it's sandwiched between dorayaki skins. When you take a bite, you'll find plenty of cream upfront, with red bean paste hidden in the back. If you attack it head-on, it's like eating a cream-flavored dorayaki followed by a regular one. It might be better to approach it from the side to mix the cream and red bean paste flavors. It's quite filling, with a strong sweetness from the red bean paste, giving the satisfaction of eating two dorayaki.

I was wandering around aiming for Hagurasaki's public bath, and unexpectedly stumbled upon Mukashin's main factory (o^^o). There was a big store right on the main road, so I took shelter from the sudden rain (^o^) I love dorayaki (o^^o) I will enjoy it with tea in the eat-in space (^o^) Salty green tea (o^^o) Is it for heatstroke prevention❓ The red bean paste made with mystery Tokachi beans is so delicious (o^^o) It seems that you can eat freshly baked dorayaki on Saturdays (o^^o) Unfortunately, it's only Friday \(//∇//)\ It seems that Mukashin is written as Mukashin (o^^o) I happened to pass by the headquarters, which was right in front of me (o^^o) Mukashin Hagurasaki Store 072-462-0724 1-4-7 Hagurasaki, Izumisano City, Osaka Prefecture.

I received a souvenir from a coworker I get along well with at work in January 2020. It's rare for me to come across Osaka sweets, so it was precious and made me very happy. The "Kogashi Butter Cake" sounds delicious just from the name itself (laughs). I was advised to warm it up a bit before eating, so I tried it right away. I compared it after warming it up, and indeed it tastes better when warm! It goes perfectly with coffee too. It's also quite filling, so it's perfect as a souvenir gift. Thank you for the delicious sweets. I also write a personal blog.

This is a gift I received from a confectionery shop in Osaka. It seems their specialty is "roasted butter." The "Roasted Butter Cake" has even won a Monde Selection award. The "Roasted Butter Castella" is made with plenty of their special roasted butter. The cake is quite large, and you can cut it with the plastic knife provided. The texture is definitely fluffy, but the flavor is on the sweeter side. I couldn't really taste the butter much, but overall, it's like a regular castella or sponge cake.

March is the season of farewells. At a farewell party, someone who received flowers brought some sweets as a greeting. The sweets were a Red Apple Cake from SACCAI, a confectionery called Nanban Roman from Mukashi Hanakura-saki store. I heard that they are from Osaka. I received the cake, wishing them success in their future endeavors. The cake had a light texture with apple compote inside. It seemed very sweet, but was actually quite light. By the way, SACCAI means "Sakai," a trading port. I have also experienced relocation before. In March, I was bid farewell by the Daphne flowers, and in April, welcomed by cherry blossoms at my new workplace. This year, both flowers bloomed simultaneously, making March a mysterious month. By the way, there is a lyric in Yosui Inoue's song "Sakura Sangetsu Sanpo Michi" that goes, "Because the crazy cherry blossoms fall in March."

"I purchased a butter cake called 'Kogashi Butter Cake' at a service area, and even though it was actually a gift, I wanted to leave a review to remember it. I haven't eaten butter cake much before, but this one had a rich flavor due to the butter being slightly burnt, giving it a more intense and delicious taste. Despite its size, it was dense and satisfying to eat. If I see it at the service area again, I will definitely buy it as a souvenir."
