Chicken cutlet sandwich for 200 yen, entrance fee 150 yen. The shop inside the ticket gate is quite inconvenient. It's a hassle to buy the entrance ticket. It's frustrating that you can't use touch payment at the station in JR Kyushu. The chicken cutlet sandwich is pretty normal, except for the strong seasoning. Just for your reference, our shop is rare for not accepting electronic money inside the station.

"Thank you for riding with us. We have arrived at Togo. Wait, where is Togo? Oh, it's here. I suddenly came back to my senses. Togo? Where is that? I remember getting off at the Tanka Station in a daze and somehow making it to Kokura Station. I was supposed to go back to Hakata on the bullet train, but Togo? I don't know the Tohoku Shinkansen, Nagano Shinkansen, or Joetsu Shinkansen, but at least there is no such station on the Kyushu Shinkansen, Sanyo Shinkansen, or Tokaido Shinkansen. 'We will depart Togo and stop at Fukuma next.' Is it Togo in Munakata? In a daze after the shocking sight of the Tanka Market, I realized I was on a local train. I have always been curious about the kashiwameshi in Kokura. When it comes to kashiwameshi, the famous one is the Higashichikuken in Orio, but how is the kashiwameshi in Kokura different from that? Or are they the same? The secret recipe of the Higashichikuken's kashiwameshi known only to a few members of the founding family. That sweet kashiwa is irresistibly delicious. On the other hand, the kashiwameshi in Kokura is beef shigure-ni. The sweet and savory kashiwa is cooked with sweet and savory broth. It is truly beef shigure-ni flavor. However, when it comes to kashiwameshi, it's the Higashichikuken in Orio. Kokura is the terminal station of Kitakyushu. I don't want people who don't know the Higashichikuken's kashiwameshi to buy the kashiwameshi in Kokura and think 'This is the famous kashiwameshi in Kitakyushu!' The kashiwameshi in Higashichikuken and the kashiwameshi in Kokura are completely different. The famous one is the kashiwameshi in Higashichikuken, and what became famous is the secret recipe kashiwa and rice. The kashiwameshi in Kokura is kashiwameshi, but it's not really kashiwameshi. When it comes to kashiwameshi in Kitakyushu, it's definitely the Higashichikuken. The Higashichikuken is the kashiwameshi in Kitakyushu. By the way, only the kashiwameshi in Kokura is sold on the local train, but the bullet train concourse also sells the kashiwameshi in Higashichikuken. Even if you don't have time to go to Orio, you can still buy the kashiwameshi in Higashichikuken at Kokura Station. Even if you don't take the bullet train, you can buy the kashiwameshi in Higashichikuken by purchasing a 100 yen admission ticket. The kashiwameshi in Higashichikuken is worth the effort and value, so I hope you buy the kashiwameshi in Higashichikuken, not the kashiwameshi in Kokura."

Traveling in Kyushu. To end the trip, I had a drink at home. I bought various items, but of course, I couldn't miss out on the station bento. This time, I purchased a bento from Kokura Station. There is a shop right after the ticket gate at Kokura Station that sells several types of bento. I bought the "Muhomatsu Bento" (900 yen) from this shop. I took it home and enjoyed it. Muhomatsu is the protagonist of a novel set in Kitakyushu. I haven't read it, but I've heard of "The Life of Muhomatsu." When I looked it up later, I found out that "The Life of Muhomatsu" is not the title of a novel but a movie. So, I guess this bento is inspired by the character Muhomatsu. The Muhomatsu Bento includes chestnut rice, grilled chicken, grilled squid, grilled fish, tsukune (meatballs), naruto fish cake, pickled burdock, and more. It's all presented in a traditional Japanese style. The chestnut rice was a bit firm with a subtle and elegant flavor. The grilled squid had just the right amount of saltiness. The tsukune was small in size but packed with flavor. Overall, the bento was small and seemed suitable for older customers. If you've seen "The Life of Muhomatsu," you might have a special connection to this bento. I'd like to try other station bentos next time.

There is a shop inside the JR Kokura Station ticket gate on the local line. They don't sell bentos from Higashichikuken, and I'm not a fan of their "kashiwameshi," so I don't use it very often. There's a hidden gem FamilyMart nearby where you can get Higashichikuken's kashiwameshi even at night with just a short walk. However, when I went to take photos for a review, I saw a sign saying "Half-price bentos" displayed. It seems they offer discounted prices for late-night hours. It might be recommended for those who take the local line to Kokura and transfer to a late-night shinkansen.

I purchased a bento box from the North Kyushu Station Bento stand inside JR Kokura Station (on the 2nd floor of the local line) for 900 yen (tax included). The bento box is called "Shunkashuutou" and it was delicious. It was definitely worth the price. Thank you for the meal.

I enjoyed kashiwa udon on the platform and it was so delicious that I ended up buying a bento as well. I had it for breakfast the next day, heating it up in the microwave. The chicken was thinly sliced and cooked in a sweet and savory sauce, which paired perfectly with the rice. The egg was not scrambled, but rather in a delicate thread-like form. I could feel the attention to detail in the meal. I also appreciated the fact that there was no station bento mark, which made it feel more reasonably priced. Thank you for the meal.

Sometimes when I'm late getting home from work, I'll stop and pick up a bento box. My go-to is the kashiwa rice, but this time I tried the "shunkashuutou" bento which comes with kashiwa rice and fried food. I bought it and enjoyed it with a beer at home. When you're short on time, treating yourself to a station bento is nice.

For my business trip to Kokura, I bought a bento box from the Kitakyushu Bento Shop. Today, I had the fried chicken bento for 900 yen. It came with 4 pieces of fried chicken, sautéed burdock root, croquette, dried daikon radish, and egg salad on rice. It was quite filling and delicious. I enjoyed it on the Shinkansen train. Thank you for the meal.

Established in Moji Port in Meiji 24, this historic bento shop changed its name to the current one in Showa 31. The bento features seasoned rice topped with minced meat, shredded omelette, shredded seaweed, and a colorful array of side dishes including rolled omelette, simmered dried daikon radish, mandarin orange, pickled daikon radish with cherry blossoms, and sweet green soybeans. The rice itself tastes like seasoned minced chicken, so when eaten together with the minced meat, it creates a harmonious and delicious flavor. I was lucky to purchase it at a 50% discount in the evening, getting it for only 400 yen instead of the regular price of 800 yen. This review was posted on a blog. Article URL: http://blog.livedoor.jp/steebe247/archives/52276028.html This bento was even more delicious than it looked in the video.

I used this shop when transferring from the Shinkansen. They sell small items such as the famous Kashiwa rice ball and homemade deli bread. This time, I bought a "tofu hamburger" burger for 150 yen. It was quite delicious! Thank you for the meal.

I bought it on my way back from drinking in Kokura for the next day's lunch. I tried it for the first time at half price of 390 yen, and the chicken rice part had a strong flavor and was delicious. I especially liked the seaweed part. I didn't know there was a mandarin orange inside, so it was a shame that I warmed it up in the microwave...

I bought a Karaage bento for 800 yen at the Kitakyushu Bento shop on the local train station premises on my way back from Kokura business trip. It came with high pickled vegetables rice, karaage, and croquettes, offering a substantial volume and delicious seasoning. It was a feast.

I stopped by a convenience store on my way back from Kokura to buy a bento box to eat on the Shinkansen for two consecutive days. Yesterday, I bought the Kokura chicken rice that caught my eye. It was discounted from 780 yen to half price at 390 yen in the evening. The seasoning of the chicken rice is good. The seasoned egg and sweet and spicy chicken meat go well together and are delicious. The side dishes like beans are also good for a chopstick rest. Thank you for the meal.

I purchased sandwiches from a bakery inside the local train station in Kokura during a business trip. I bought a two-color sandwich for 230 yen, a fish dog for 130 yen, and a thick egg sandwich for 160 yen from Grand Au Miel. The bread from Grand Au Miel is delicious and reasonably priced. The thick egg sandwich is quite filling. Thank you for the meal.

When it comes to kashiwa-meshi in Kitakyushu City, there is a vendor at Orio Station called Higashichikken who sells bento boxes reminiscent of the old days. Another vendor, Kitakyushu Ekiben, sells kashiwa-meshi and other bento boxes at Kokura Station. They specialize in takeout and also sell bread. The "Kokura Kashiwa-meshi" is priced at 780 yen including tax. It's convenient for grabbing after work, so I use it occasionally. The dish consists of kashiwa-meshi with sweet and savory simmered kashiwa meat, shredded egg, and seaweed on top. It also comes with simmered daikon radish. The simmered kashiwa meat is delicious. There are kashiwa udon available on the platform, onigiri at the supermarket, and kashiwa meat seems to be the soul food of Kitakyushu City residents.

Archive. Purchased as a lunch during a business trip. A soul food from Kitakyushu. A nostalgic dish that I often ate on the train to satisfy my hunger while commuting to cram school for over an hour. A lively visual presentation with mochi-mochi mountain vegetable rice topped with grilled chicken skewers, burdock, shiitake mushrooms, fried tofu, nama-fu, and candied chestnuts. It's a shame that the eel kabayaki that used to be included has been replaced with simmered mackerel, but the finish and texture that can be enjoyed even when cold is still the same as always. I hope this hometown taste will remain forever. Thank you for the meal. I will come again.

Around 19:30, I happened to pass by and saw that bento boxes were half price, so I decided to buy one. It was originally 800 yen but was discounted to 400 yen, so I was very satisfied. However, if it had been 800 yen, I might have chosen a convenience store bento instead.
