Short revisit within a short period. It is famous nationwide, so there was a request to try it. I got off at Hakata Station to buy it. Around 10:30 on a Sunday, there were about 3 people in line. As I thought last time, many people receive explanations, but the service is fast once you order.

The husband's wish. When it comes to Hakata, it's mentaiko, so I decided to challenge this place because it looks photogenic. I was worried it would be cold, but a hot bento box came out. I ate it on the Shinkansen (only up to Kokura). I'm not a big fan of mentaiko, so the strong flavor was a bit tough. However, the kombu helped to mellow it out nicely. The best part was the rice topped with seasoned seaweed. That was good. I arrived at my destination in no time. I finished it in a flash. Mentaiko wasn't bad either. I have no interest in mentaiko or looking photogenic, so if I were alone, I would never go to this restaurant.笑

Friday 12:40, no one was lining up. There was only one type of bento available, which seemed to be made in the back. It came out hot. It may be expensive, but I bought it as a treat. If I can buy it without waiting in line, I might buy it again, but I won't if I have to wait a long time.

It seems to be a limited-time pop-up store until the end of August. I visited around 12:50 on a weekday. Takeout only. No wait. After paying, the bento arrived in 2-3 minutes. It's recommended to eat the rice while it's still warm. It comes with sauce, making it delicious. There's something like kombu wrapped around the mentaiko, enhancing the flavor. It's great for quickly buying a bento without waiting in line. I also want to try the one with seared mentaiko (around 3000 yen) at the main store.

Located inside Hakata Station, this limited-time pop-up shop will be available from March 31, 2023, to August 31, 2023. They carefully prepare Hakata gourmet dishes one by one inside the shop. One of their specialties is the original Hakata mentaiko on rice for ¥1,814. The warm rice is topped with a whole piece of homemade mentaiko wrapped in seaweed. The mentaiko has a rich flavor, and you can add spicy sauce to your liking. The simple combination of mentaiko and rice is truly wonderful. Although it is a bit pricey, this bento box will add color to your Hakata journey. Thank you for the delicious meal.

When you visit Fukuoka, this is a must-visit restaurant. There is always a wait due to the many tourists, but I always crave their generous portion of mentaiko rice bowl. The serving size is just right, not too much or too little, making it easy for women to enjoy. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is calm and comfortable to spend time in.

I first tried it without sauce and then added sauce halfway through. Both are delicious. It must be even more delicious when eaten at the restaurant. Looking forward to it.

Today I went on a trip to Huis Ten Bosch and decided to eat on the train, so I came to this place. The limited-time store was so popular that it became a permanent store! The store in Nakasu always has long lines from early morning, but this one only had a few people waiting, so I decided to line up. I ordered the Hakata mentaiko bento (1814 yen), which was a bit pricey but my family wanted to try it, so why not, right? I thought it was pre-made, but they actually finish making it in the store after you order, so it was nice and warm. This was a pleasant surprise! Just be aware that the expiration time is 4 hours, especially in hot weather since it contains raw ingredients. I will enjoy this bento on the Huis Ten Bosch train now. It's simple but delicious, with the mentaiko wrapped in thin seaweed, giving it an elegant flavor. The rice was also tasty, making it a very satisfying bento. It's not something you eat every day, but it's nice to have once in a while (especially during an exciting trip). If you're curious and the line is short, I recommend trying it out. I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the meal!

A super popular takeout-only shop in Nakasu has opened. Despite saying "Opening on September 7th," they were already open. The food was definitely delicious, which explains its popularity. However, the prices are a bit high, starting at 1800 yen. I think I'd rather buy some delicious mentaiko and put it on a bowl of rice at home. That might be better. Lesson learned.

Hello! Today, I visited the original Hakata Mentaiju at Hakata Station. While returning to my hotel in Nakasu after a Fukuoka trip, I stumbled upon a long line at a store specializing in mentaiko dishes. However, I didn't have the patience to wait in line, so I decided to try the limited-time pop-up store at Hakata Station instead. I arrived at 3:00 PM and was pleasantly surprised to find only a short wait for the famous Hakata Mentaiju. I quickly purchased it and tried it out.
I ordered the original Hakata Mentaiju for 1,814 yen. It consisted of a generous portion of mentaiko on top of rice sprinkled with seaweed. The mentaiko, marinated in a special seasoning with kombu and red pepper, had a delightful flavor and was meticulously wrapped in thin strips of kombu. To enhance the taste of the rice, you could pour the special sauce that came with it. The store only offers take-out and limited-time menu items, so if you're interested, be sure to visit before August 31.
Overall, it was a delicious and satisfying experience at the original Hakata Mentaiju at Hakata Station. Thank you for the meal!

I went to the original Hakata Mentaiju located at Hakata Station. It is a limited-time store at Hakata Station from March 31st to August 31st. It was during the Obon holiday period, but surprisingly it was not crowded, and I was able to buy it with almost no wait. Of course, I bought the original Hakata Mentaiju. They make it after you order, so you can eat it freshly made. The waiting time was not long. Since check-in at the hotel was at 3 o'clock, I asked the staff if there was anywhere to eat. They recommended the rooftop garden on the 10th floor of Hankyu Department Store. It was a comfortable place with a roof, tables, and chairs, even though there was no air conditioning on the rooftop. The warm mentaiju has a perfect balance of spiciness from mentaiko and umami from kelp. When you pour the sauce that comes with it, you can enjoy a rich flavor.

Mentaiko (spicy cod roe) Bento Box - 1,814 yen
I happened to come across this before boarding the return Shinkansen. They still had one Mentaiko Bento Box left, so I grabbed it. Lucky me! I enjoyed it on the train ride back. First, I tried it as is. The flavor of the spicy cod roe and kelp was delicious. Then, I tried it with the sauce. Personally, I felt the sauce was unnecessary as it was already tasty on its own. It's a bit pricey, but worth it for a memorable travel experience. Thank you for the meal!

I was planning to go to a restaurant in Nakasu Kawabata for lunch, but even on a weekday during summer vacation, the long line leading to the park made me give up. I knew from the shop's information that there were limited edition bento boxes at Hakata Station, but I didn't expect them to be sold out. However, they were still being sold in the evening before boarding the Shinkansen, with no line. I decided to buy one. The original Hakata mentaiko bento box cost 1814 yen. It had a pretty strong flavor, so I ate it as it was without adding the special sauce. Honestly, it didn't meet my expectations, but seeing the long line at the main store makes me want to try it at the actual shop at least once.

Before 9:00 in the morning, I was wandering around Hakata Station and saw a shop where people were lining up to wait for it to open. It turned out to be a shop called "Original Hakata Mentaiko Bento". After browsing through the souvenir shops in the station, I passed by this shop again and there was no longer a line, so I decided to buy one. I purchased it after 10:00 and opened it at my destination. Inside, there was a piece of mentaiko (spicy cod roe) sitting in the middle of a seaweed-covered bed of rice. The mentaiko was cut into bite-sized pieces, making it easy to eat. When I scooped up a bite with the seaweed and rice, I felt pure happiness. This bento was so delicious that I would definitely buy it again. It's no wonder people line up for it. Thank you for the meal.

I went on a 2-day, 1-night gourmet tour to Saga and Hakata for a special reason. Upon arriving at Hakata Station, I noticed a crowd and discovered that the original Hakata mentaiko bento was being sold inside the station. I decided to buy it despite the high price as a treat for myself. The bento consists of homemade mentaiko wrapped in seaweed on a bed of warm rice, topped with a special sauce. It is a famous Hakata specialty meant to be enjoyed fresh. The mentaiko bento was pricey, but I purchased it anyway as I wanted to try it. The taste was good, but not worth the high price. I followed the instructions on how to eat it and found the mentaiko to be mild and elegant in flavor. The rice, seaweed, and mentaiko combination was decent, but not outstanding. Overall, it was delicious, but I wouldn't pay the full price for it again.

Until the end of August, there is a limited-time store inside Hakata Station. It is a store specializing in bento boxes. I bought one and ate it on the Shinkansen, so it had been a while since I purchased it, but it was delicious!! It was luxurious to use a whole piece of mentaiko. The combination of shiso and mentaiko was even better than I expected!!

I went to the original Hakata mentaiko restaurant in Hakata Chuo Park, thinking it must be something special with the long line in front of it. It turned out to be a ramen shop with a beautiful design. Although I didn't feel like waiting in the scorching heat, I gave up. The next day, I heard from a friend that there was a limited-time takeaway stall at Hakata Station, so I hurried to buy some. The store opened at 9 am, but I underestimated the number of people and ended up waiting for 50 minutes. Finally, I got my hands on the mentaiko. When I tried it at home, the mentaiko was cut and wrapped in thin kelp, giving it a delicious taste. Although it lacked spiciness for me, it was enjoyable, especially when combined with seaweed. The store also offers mentai tsui, which is a dashi broth poured over the mentaiko. They also have mentai dipping noodles on the menu. Overall, I still prefer eating at the restaurant, but I might try it again once the hype dies down.
