I have been to Hakata several times but had never been to a food stall until now. There were so many stalls that I didn't know where to go. I had the impression that stalls were lined up in Nakasu or Nagahama when I thought of food stalls in Hakata. We were discussing where to go in Tenjin, but when I looked it up, I thought, "Wait, isn't Tenjin the area with the most stalls?" However, they seemed to be scattered around, so we were really lost on where to go. The one thing we both agreed on was that we wanted to try small, thin-skinned gyoza, not the meat-filled kind. So, we decided to walk around and search for a stall. After about 10 minutes of walking and glancing at a few places, we finally found a stall that seemed promising. However, there was only one seat available... When we asked the staff, they kindly rearranged the seats so we could sit together. This was a true food stall experience! We ordered a highball, which turned out to be strong and made me cough. Then, we tried to order gyoza, and the lady making them asked, "Just one order of gyoza for both of you?" Of course, we couldn't visit a stall with "gyoza" written on the curtain and not order gyoza. She also suggested trying a mixed skewer set, which included 6 skewers: gizzard, skin, liver, pork belly, tsukune, and wiener. We were considering it when she said, "If you don't like liver, I can replace it with 2 gizzard skewers." How thoughtful! We were a bit embarrassed to admit we didn't like liver, but her suggestion was really helpful. And the gizzard skewers were delicious! Soon, the gyoza arrived - small, round gyoza, just what we wanted! We both nodded in approval as we savored the delicious gyoza. Lastly, we ordered tonkotsu ramen. We thought we should have ordered one bowl each, but we were running out of time before our flight. We felt a bit guilty, but the staff kindly brought out a sharing plate for us. The tonkotsu ramen was also incredibly tasty. It was my first time eating at a food stall, and I was shocked by the high quality of the food. It was hot... I was sweating all over, but I couldn't stop drinking the soup. And when we received the bill... it was so cheap! I was amazed by the food stall experience. I wish we had more time to try a plate of gyoza each. As we chatted about this, we headed to the airport. I want to try more food stalls in the future, but if asked, I would definitely recommend this food stall.
