It's nice to have a place like this in the neighborhood where you can enjoy a light meal on Sunday from 3 PM. They offer a 1,100 yen drink and snack menu, which includes a highball or a small draft beer, a selection of two oden dishes, two gyoza dumplings, and a thick-cut beef tongue with cream cheese soy sauce. It's a quick and satisfying meal, perfect for not lingering and only using the timing when there are no other customers around.

In Nishi Nakasu, Fukuoka, near the corporate offices, along the Kokutai Road, there is a restaurant called "Matsunoki" where I had ginger pork lunch. The restaurant has a unique high ceiling. The lunch menu is a bit on the expensive side compared to nearby places. I chose the ginger pork for 900 yen, which came with a small portion of rice. It had plenty of onions and was healthy, but not the type of meat you would wrap in rice. They also had homemade chili oil for those who like spicy food. The coffee was surprisingly good. After paying, the staff even suggested that I could start drinking from noon onwards, which was quite accurate. Main street in Fukuoka city sandwiched between Nishi Nakasu and Haruyoshi. A small group gathering at the izakaya "Yuai" that opened in August near the Mitsukoshi intersection in Tenjin, right next to Nakasu. It's been a while since I've been to Fukuoka~. Fukuoka is like a third hometown for me as I've lived there for a total of 9 years in my life!! An acquaintance from the Fukuoka branch recommended this restaurant, saying that the food is really delicious! The fish and meat are exceptional, but the "grilled beef tongue" in particular is outstanding, he praised. So, with high expectations, we arrived at the restaurant. The interior is not very spacious but stylish. There is a table seating for 6-7 people on the second floor with a high ceiling, where our small gathering took place. You ring a bell to call the staff, but since it's a high ceiling, the sound carries down quickly. It might be challenging if it's very crowded, but it's more of a stylish izakaya rather than a bustling one. The course meals range from 3,500 to 5,000 yen, all including all-you-can-drink. We opted for the course that allows you to enjoy the grilled beef tongue, with an added pot for a bit of luxury (perhaps the arrangement was influenced by the acquaintance we had at the restaurant). Despite being an izakaya, the level of cuisine is not like typical izakaya fare. It's more like a high-class Japanese restaurant, with each dish meticulously prepared and using quality ingredients. The drink menu for all-you-can-drink was also extensive (the glasses were stylish, adding to the points). The appetizer consisted of a platter of three types, which was delicious. When the sashimi arrived, followed by grilled fish! And then, the much-talked-about beef tongue made its appearance. That's the first photo, but look at this. Isn't this amazing? The thickness and tenderness are incredible! The beef tongue was so delicious! In addition to the beef tongue, there were spare ribs, which were also incredibly tasty. They use a type of pork called Amakusa Takara Maki pork. Lastly, the hot pot arrived. The presentation was also lovely. Located in the heart of the city where there are many dining options, using such delicious ingredients at this cost performance, it might become difficult to make a reservation next time. It could become like "Tankan" that used to be in Kiyokawa in the old days... that place also suddenly became a famous restaurant, right (sweat)? It was delicious. Thank you for the meal!!! I visited around 5pm on Sunday with the intention of trying the beef tongue oden, but it was already sold out so I ordered the beef tendon stew instead. The appetizer that came out was clearly a commercial cucumber pickle, about 7 slices for 350 yen... my bad feeling was correct. The beef tendon stew was clearly lacking in stewing time, with tough strings that needed to be chewed hard and a lingering smell. To make up for it, I ordered the pork bone oden (thick sliced chashu and gyoza tempura). The gyoza tempura was okay, but the problem was the thick sliced chashu. Despite being advertised as chashu, it was just pork cartilage. Once again, lacking in stewing time, it had a crunchy and tough texture. I decided to pay and go drink somewhere else. I had about 2 drinks and the total was around 2200 yen. It seems like this place specializes in beef tongue, but everything else was disappointing. It would be wise to check if they still have beef tongue before entering. I wish they had at least stewed the beef tendon and pork cartilage until they were tender...

A mouthful of gyoza at "Yuai" in Nishinakasu. Located along the Kokutai Road in Nishinakasu, near my company, is "Yuai." This place has changed from a sushi restaurant to a tempura restaurant to a members-only Japanese restaurant that is now open to the public. This time, it seems to be a regular izakaya. The high ceiling with an open space is nice, but the kitchen is located in the back. For the grand opening, they offer a set of drink and gyoza for 500 yen. I ordered a draft beer. Oh, they serve a small appetizer as well, fried eggplant in broth for an additional charge of 350 yen plus tax. And then, the Hakata-style bite-sized gyoza with yuzu pepper and sauce. The skin is chewy and the filling is juicy. It's really good. I couldn't just leave with that, so I also had a highball. The thin glass is nice. A highball is great for summer. It was a delicious meal. Thank you.

At 3:00 p.m. on a regular day, I made a same-day reservation and visited this clean and charming restaurant. I sat at a table and enjoyed drinking from noon. The staff provided exceptional service, and the timing of serving the dishes was perfect. Each dish, made with meticulous care, enhanced the taste of the drinks. The glasses they used were elegant. I had a tranquil and luxurious time. It's true that the Haruyoshi area is full of excellent restaurants. I was able to discover an amazing restaurant.
