The location is right in the middle of Kitashinchi, yet it offers great value for money, delicious food, and I was very satisfied! The black bean natto roll was unusual and very tasty, I had multiple servings ♡♥ I went there to celebrate with friends and despite being cost-effective, they were also very satisfied, making my friends happy too ♡ They also serve lunch, so I highly recommend it! ★¨̮

Last month, I went to "Orankuya - Kitashinchi Annex" in Kitashinchi with my customers! This restaurant is located right in front of my shop and it's rare these days to find a place where you can eat à la carte instead of courses! We started with a recommended sashimi platter and enjoyed dishes like fried eel, grilled swordfish, and grilled fugu shirako. We were so full from all the appetizers that we headed to the restaurant. It was a satisfying meal filled with appetizers. I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the delicious meal! 🚶♂️ #Kitashinchi #KitashinchiGourmet #KitashinchiSushi #Orankuya #OrankuyaKitashinchiAnnex #Sushi #SushiRestaurant #SushiLovers #SashimiPlatter #Swordfish #FuguShirako #Osaka #OsakaGourmet #KitashinchiMainStreet #Gourmet #GourmetLovers #GourmetGram

I was guided to a counter seat with a unique shape and sat down. Since I was near the entrance, the women were given knee blankets or aprons. It was a Tosa-style sushi restaurant, and the specialty seemed to be bonito tataki. I ordered it first. It was already prepared, not straw-grilled, and the chilled tataki was served. It was thick and fragrant, but the fishy smell bothered me a bit. There were many types of dishes besides sushi, and even just one dish seemed satisfying with the variety. Today, I went to eat sushi, so I ordered one piece of each menu item I wanted to try. The recommended one was swordfish, which had a good texture and was delicious. The raw conger eel was also delicious. I was expecting the bonito sushi to be raw, but it was tataki, which was a bit disappointing. The prawn was taken from the fish tank and immediately prepared, so when it was served, it was still moving. They grilled the head on a shichirin and served it. The counter can accommodate up to 4.5 groups, but it can be difficult to order when it's full. There were many employees lined up in the hallway, and it felt awkward as if they were watching from behind. The reserved customer next to me was smoking loose tobacco, and the smell was so strong that I hurried to leave. Since I had made a reservation, I wished there had been more consideration in asking about such matters in advance.

It had been several years since I last visited, so I decided to stop by again. The interior of the restaurant had been renovated and looked very clean. The menu had also been updated with many interesting items, but my stomach couldn't handle it all at once, so I'll have to come back a few more times.

You can enjoy Tosa cuisine in this Japanese restaurant in Kochi Prefecture. My top recommendation is the bonito tataki with salt and nigiri sushi (all with white rice). In the area of Kita-Shinchi, I believe the cost performance here is still good. I visited Orankuya because I wanted to eat delicious sushi a la carte. Their specialty seems to be bonito tataki, where you can choose between salt and ponzu sauce. I chose salt and they grilled it over straw in the kitchen, giving it a faint straw aroma that gently wafts into your nose. The bonito with just a hint of salt was incredibly delicious. I also tried a few recommended sushi dishes today and finished off my meal. To be honest, I thought the prices were a bit high for Kita-Shinchi, but it might be a good option for a second drink spot nearby.

At night, it's a high-end sushi restaurant in Kita-Shinchi that is definitely out of reach. For lunch, they all offer reasonably priced options. I decided to try "Orankuya" that I found online.
■Order
- Lunch set: 900 yen including tax
■Impressions
The portion size was generous. 7 pieces of nigiri sushi and 3 rolls. The miso soup was served in a large bowl with plenty of ingredients! It also came with a small side dish.
- Enjoyed the classic sushi menu items like squid, tuna, salmon, and yellowtail with shrimp. The miso soup was plentiful, and I was stuffed.
- Besides sushi, they also offer lunch sets with shrimp tempura, conger eel, simmered fish, and grilled fish, but it seemed like most people were ordering sushi.
■Interior
- I was seated at the counter, where there were about 3 groups of customers. There were also seats at the back, where groups of 3 or more were seated.
- The spacious counter seats allow you to relax. It may be a bit intimidating before entering, but once inside, it's comfortable to spend time.
■Visit Experience
- I was able to get in smoothly this day, but it can get quite crowded at times. It seemed empty due to the influence of the coronavirus.

This is a very atmospheric restaurant ☀️ They offer a limited lunch menu of 15 meals for 500 yen (excluding tax), as well as 4 other options for 880 yen (excluding tax). I ordered the salted bonito tataki because I heard it was delicious. My colleague ordered the regular tataki. Both were cooked perfectly and tasted great! Thank you for the meal ☀️

Tonight, after enjoying a jazz live in Nishi Umeda, I was taken to "Tosa Sushi Orankuya Hondori 3rd Branch" in Kitashinchi by someone who suggested we have a little sushi after. In this area, sushi restaurants are also run by staff in black suits, like high-end clubs. Unfortunately, the annex was full, so we called the 3rd branch on Hondori and they guided us to the restaurant.
When I arrived at the counter seat, I looked at the sushi case and the daily recommendations, and ordered a few items that caught my eye. While waiting for the dishes, I toasted with a draft beer. We had:
- Amakusa rock oysters with ponzu sauce
- Firefly squid with vinegar miso
- Tosa bonito tataki
The rock oyster, which was the last one left, was beautifully cut and glistened in the dish. When I took a bite, the creamy essence spread gently in my mouth. Then came the Tosa bonito tataki, and the combination of the smoky aroma from grilling, the warmth from searing, and the coldness in the center was quite sophisticated. I immediately ordered a bamboo sake from Tosa Tsuru.
The bamboo sake is said to bring good luck and health, making it a luxurious pairing. I sipped on it while forgetting about tomorrow's garlic smell. The sushi included:
- Seared golden snapper
- Flounder with ponzu sauce
- Sea urchin
- Sayori (Japanese halfbeak)
All of them were delicious, but the seared golden snapper had a chewy umami that paired well with the vinegar rice. The fresh Sayori sushi had a great texture.
To finish, we had a gentle miso soup with clams. It was so delicious. After enjoying the lingering flavors, I realized it was already time for the last train. I barely made it in time, but the bustling atmosphere of Kitashinchi almost made me miss it. Phew, that was close.
Thank you for the delicious and enjoyable night.

I visited the restaurant around 11:30 pm. The place was spacious and not crowded at that time. I had a few rolls and ended with some steamed dishes. I asked for smaller sushi pieces and they were easy to eat. The chef was very friendly and provided great service.

In Shinchi, there is a sushi restaurant with a slightly unusual name that makes it hard to tell if it's cheap or expensive, but it's reasonably priced and easy to enjoy. The sushi is made well at the counter, prices are clear, and the atmosphere is bright. It's a good choice for a debut in Shinchi. Despite the name "Frank," the taste is authentic and the service is accommodating, even for young people. Overall, everything I ate felt worth more than the price.

Tosa Sushi and Charcoal Grill Orankuya. A sushi chain in Kochi that delivers local ingredients. There are 2-3 branches in Shinchi. This sushi restaurant in Shinchi is the most reasonable one that I know of, and it is delicious enough for someone like me. Look for the beckoning cat sign.

It's not as fancy as high-end sushi, but it's delicious. This sushi originated in Kochi and was surprisingly affordable for Kita-Shinchi.

Wandering around Kita-Shinchi, I stumbled upon a Tosa cuisine restaurant and decided to go in without hesitation. Started off with a beer and straw-grilled bonito. The aroma of the straw and the sweetness of the bonito were exquisite. So delicious! They also had sushi, so I tried the red tuna. It was amazing! The fatty texture and thickness of the red tuna were just right. I prefer red tuna over fatty tuna. They had a frozen fruit chu-hi, which looked tempting, but I felt like having sake today. They didn't have a wide selection of sake, so I ordered Tosa Tsuru. It was good, nothing special. I tried various other dishes, and everything was a hit! Thank you for the meal~
