◉Genre: Set meal restaurant, Local cuisine ◉Area: Tokuyoshi area, Kokuraminami Ward, Kitakyushu City ◉Access: 10 minutes by car from Tokuriki Arashiyama-guchi Station on the municipal monorail ◉Parking: Available ◉Credit card payment: Not available ◉Number of visits: First time ◉Number of reviews: 1st review On this day, I casually visited "Gobamatakezen" restaurant. ◇Exterior and Interior This restaurant is located in Tokuyoshi Minami, Kokuraminami Ward, Kitakyushu City. It is known for bamboo shoots in the Gobama area of Kokuraminami Ward. ◇Seating The restaurant has a small-scale, traditional Japanese house-like structure. ◇Menu The main dishes are set meals using bamboo shoots. The items I ordered are as follows: - Bamboo shoot rice (650 yen) → Including tax Today, I was planning to visit a bakery during my break from work, but to my surprise, it was closed. So, I decided to change my plans and visit this restaurant instead. The set meal includes mixed rice, tempura, simmered dish, rolled omelette, and several other healthy side dishes. The dishes are varied and healthy, with bamboo shoots used in the mixed rice and tempura, adding a delicious flavor and texture. I usually don't like mixed rice, but I was able to eat it without any issues this time. ◆Strengths A must-visit restaurant for bamboo shoot lovers! ◆Service Average ◆Conclusion Bamboo shoots are best enjoyed as sashimi. I miss the mountains of Ehime. Thank you for the meal.

I had always wanted to try this restaurant because everyone had been posting on Tabelog about it. I decided on the bamboo shoot set meal! It came with a variety of bamboo shoot dishes like tempura, salads, pickles, and simmered dishes! In addition, there was bamboo shoot rice, miso soup, and salad. There was so much food that I was glad to share some with my partner... My partner had the curry with bamboo shoots! I forgot to take a bite, but it looked delicious. Everything in the set meal was delicious, but I especially liked the crispy bamboo shoot tempura with salt. I will definitely bring my mother next time. Thank you for the meal! It seems they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Parking available. Arrived around 11:30 on a weekday and it was full. Took a number inside the restaurant and waited in the car. When my turn came, the staff called me. The menu includes: Bamboo shoot set meal for 1500 yen, Bamboo shoot set meal with cheesecake for 1700 yen, Tamagokake Gohan (rice with raw egg) set meal for 1500 yen, Bamboo shoot lunch for 1100 yen, Takeout bento (bamboo shoot rice) for 1100 yen, 650 yen (white rice is 550 yen), Bamboo shoot rice only for 350 yen, Homemade cheesecake for 300 yen, Coffee for 300 yen. I ordered the Bamboo shoot set meal with cheesecake for 1700 yen. It's not like a fancy meal, but each dish tastes like delicious home-cooked food, which is comforting. The bamboo shoot is delicious without any bitterness. They have good salts like Nuchimasu and herb salt on the table. The dressing was also delicious. The cheesecake was moist with a modest sweetness. The recommended seats at the counter have a nice view.

This is a restaurant I've always wanted to try. I waited for about 50 minutes with 3 people ahead of me. They don't take phone reservations. You have to come in, write your name and car number, and wait. They will come to your car to call you. The weather was nice, and it was pleasant to eat on the terrace surrounded by nature. I ordered the bamboo shoot set meal and cheesecake for 1700 yen. Besides bamboo shoots, there were various side dishes, so I was very satisfied. The tempura was crispy, and it tasted delicious with herb salt. The bamboo shoot rice was average, so next time I might try the rice bowl with raw egg. The cheesecake was moist and not too sweet, very delicious. The coffee was a bit weak. Thank you for the meal.

I went to Oita prefecture with my companion and after checking out from the mountain inn Kiya Suya, we returned to Kitakyushu for lunch at Goma Chaya. I have been to Goma Chaya several times, but this was my first time here. They offer a bamboo shoot lunch using "Goma no Takenoko" at a reasonable price. The location is in Tokuyoshi Minami 4-chome, turn at the Tokumitsu intersection on National Route 322 and head towards Goma, it will be on your left. The restaurant has a small interior with counter seats and two table seats by the window. There are five menu options: - Bamboo shoot set meal (1300 yen) - Bamboo shoot set meal with cheesecake (1500 yen) - Tamagokake set meal (1200 yen) - Bamboo shoot lunch (1000 yen) - Bamboo shoot chicken curry (600 yen) They also have takeout menu options. I ordered the Bamboo shoot set meal with cheesecake, and my companion ordered the Bamboo shoot lunch. The Bamboo shoot set meal with cheesecake includes bamboo shoot rice, bamboo shoot simmered dish, side dish, miso soup, bamboo shoot tempura, pickles, salad, coffee, and cheesecake. The dishes are generally lightly seasoned. I was expecting a bamboo shoot feast, but there were various items such as chicken and soft-boiled egg that were unrelated... The simmered dish was like a stew with carrots, shiitake mushrooms, and pumpkin, and the bamboo shoot, the main ingredient, felt a bit blurred... The bamboo shoot sashimi was quite small, and the tempura included sweet potatoes, pumpkin, eggplant, and bamboo shoots. There were bamboo shoots inside the rolled omelette... (laughs) It may be a bit different from the set meals at Goma Chaya, but considering the price, it was enjoyable. I thought of it as "affordable country cuisine using Goma bamboo shoots" and enjoyed it. The cheesecake (300 yen) goes well with coffee, it's a homemade cheesecake with a mild sweetness. The Bamboo shoot lunch includes bamboo shoot rice, bamboo shoot simmered dish, miso soup, bamboo shoot tempura, and pickles. It's a more budget-friendly option without the side dishes, salad, and coffee from the Bamboo shoot set meal. The bamboo shoot dishes are almost the same as the Bamboo shoot set meal, so this is also recommended. It was a good restaurant where you can taste Goma bamboo shoots at a reasonable price, although it was slightly different from what I had in mind.

Bamboo shoot lunch for 1000 yen. I was cautious about getting too excited at the start of the year in Minami Ward and putting off things for later, but I couldn't resist coming to this restaurant because bamboo shoots are in season. I arrived at 11:40 and it was quite crowded. I was tempted by the chicken curry with bamboo shoots, but I decided to go with the bamboo shoot lunch. The bamboo shoots were very tender and the overall taste was light and Japanese. It was delicious. I think I would have been satisfied with just the bamboo shoot rice and bamboo shoot miso soup. The price was reasonable and I was very satisfied with the high-quality bamboo shoot lunch. Thank you for the meal today. *The bamboo shoot lunch is a menu item available all year round, but it's cheaper now because it's in season. After the season, it will be 1200 yen, which is 200 yen more. There were many carp streamers hanging over Sakura Bridge upstream. This is also a seasonal tradition.

The nationally famous "Takénoko" (bamboo shoot) from Gōma is used in the delicious dishes at the restaurant called "Gōma Takezen". The restaurant offers affordable meals made with fresh bamboo shoots and local vegetables all year round. It was featured on TV last year. If you are driving from Kokura, turn right at the Tokumitsu intersection on Route 322, then turn right at the Ryōdani Dechōjo intersection and it's about 5 minutes away. You can also come from the Chūkan area or the Hanazono Higashi direction via Prefectural Road 61 (though it's quite a mountain road). The restaurant has about 10 parking spaces and is open from 11:00 to 14:00, closed on Mondays. The interior has a casual dining hall atmosphere with 6 counter seats and 2 tables, plus 2 outdoor tables. It is run by 3 women. If it's busy, be prepared to wait. The website mentioned a bamboo shoot rice lunch for 1200-1400 yen, but when I visited, there was a limited time 1000 yen lunch special. The "Bamboo Shoot Lunch" includes bamboo shoot sashimi, fried and simmered bamboo shoots and vegetables, kimpira, chicken, bamboo shoot rice, salad, bamboo shoot miso soup, and coffee. The variety of dishes is impressive! The food is subtly flavored, allowing the natural flavors of the ingredients to shine through without becoming overwhelming. The bamboo shoots are pure and delicious, with no strong flavors. The vegetable tempura, similar to fuki no tō, was also tasty. It's best enjoyed without any dipping sauce (only salt is provided). The sashimi is served with yuzu pepper, which may be a bit overpowering for the bamboo shoots. The chicken was also flavorful. Despite feeling full, the meal leaves a refreshing aftertaste, making it a very satisfying and delicious "bamboo shoot lunch". I'd like to try the bamboo shoot and local chicken curry for 500 yen, which was sold out this time. It might be fun to visit while listening to the skylarks sing during a walk in this season. (They also sell bento boxes)

Yesterday, after watching a local TV program featuring bamboo shoot harvesting in Aima, my wife and I felt like eating bamboo shoots. We watched the end of the Samurai Japan game and then headed out. We arrived at the bamboo shoot garden at 13:15, but it was closed due to rain, and the tea house had already closed. We saw this restaurant on the way and decided to make a U-turn and go in. Since it was past the lunch rush, there was only one other group of customers. We both ordered the Bamboo Shoot Set Meal with coffee. We enjoyed bamboo shoot rice, tempura, simmered dish, sashimi, and other side dishes. The kitchen seemed to be run by local women. We were very satisfied with the meal for only 1500 yen. It felt like we got a good deal. This place is sure to be popular with women.
