I decided to go to Shirakiya on a whim. The last time I went was probably when I was in college. The store in Monbetsu is located on the first floor of the former Meiyu Department Store. The interior is wood-themed, with partitioned booth seats. Orders are placed using a touch panel system. The all-you-can-drink option for 90 minutes costs around 1200 yen. I ordered items a la carte, but if you plan to stay at this one place, the all-you-can-drink option is definitely worth it if you plan to have 3 drinks. What I ordered: Beef stomach sashimi, beef tataki yukke, chicken wings, chicken thigh skewers, 2 beers, frozen lemon sour. The sauce for the beef stomach sashimi was kind of sweet and sour red sauce. I think regular ponzu sauce would be fine. The chicken wings were freshly fried and hot, which was the best dish. The beef tataki yukke was just okay. The prices are cheap and the quality is average. I was interested in trying the horse sashimi and liver steak. I would like to try them if I have the chance again.

I decided to go for a reconnaissance mission to Monterosa in Monbetsu, which made its debut on May 2nd. It was only the third day since its grand opening, so I was able to enter smoothly around 5 pm. The interior of the restaurant had a pleasant smell of fresh wood, probably because it was newly renovated. The staff seemed to be from various places in Hokkaido, such as Sapporo and Nakashibetsu, as indicated by their name tags. Unlike Tsuboya, Monterosa doesn't have completely private rooms; some tables are visible from the aisle. However, the prices on the menu are generally affordable, and it seems like it will be crowded for a while.
