Home / Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto / Onjiki Teihon Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto Station Front Store @ Yuka, Hokuto City 09/12/2023 Ramen Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto It's been about four years since I last had a summer vacation, so I decided to visit my hometown. There was someone collecting manhole cards for a project related to work, and I heard that you can get them at the tourist information center near Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto Station in Hokuto City. I planned to go get them when I returned home, and finally managed to do so. I quickly filled out a survey at the tourist information center, but I had some time before my train back, so I wandered around and found a ramen shop on the first floor of a hotel. The name of the shop is Onjiki Teihon, and it seemed like a good choice for lunch. I didn't do much research before going in, but the menu offered miso, salt, and soy sauce ramen. The top left of the menu was salt ramen, so I thought maybe salt was their specialty and decided to try the Trappist Ramen. What's Trappist? As someone from the hometown, I vaguely know that there is a Trappist monastery in Hokuto City established in the Meiji era, which is famous for producing butter, butter candy, and cookies. So I assumed they named it after that and put butter on top. Perhaps the butter is also Trappist, or something along those lines. I pondered whether the monastery would be upset about the name, but I went ahead and tried the salt ramen with butter for the first time in my life, and it was delicious. It's a bit lonely that there aren't many shops nearby, but I hope they do well because the ramen is tasty. Next time, I might try the shark fin ramen.

I visited for lunch during my trip to Hakodate. I ordered the extra-large portion of salted pork ramen. At the time of my visit, you could get a free upgrade to a large portion for noodles and fried rice. The food was served promptly. The flavor of the bean sprouts was quite strong. This restaurant is located in front of the Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto Station on the Hokkaido Shinkansen line, where you can also enjoy soft-serve ice cream from Yamacawa Farm. Thank you for the meal.

On the second day, I took a short train trip and arrived at Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto Station before noon. I wanted to return to Hakodate from here, but since both the train and bus had already departed, I had to wait for about an hour. So, I remembered this restaurant and decided to stop by. It was just after opening, so I was seated right away and placed my order. Looking at the menu, I felt like having a drink, but there was no alcohol on the menu! In fact, there were quite a few types of ramen, but only fried rice with five ingredients and dumplings for side dishes. The ramen toppings were almost non-existent. However, the noodle extra portion was free. I ended up ordering salt ramen with dumplings, a very simple combination, for 1,100 yen. If you order dumplings with ramen, you get a 50 yen discount, but since this restaurant had almost no menu items other than ramen, it was inevitable to get something to make it cheaper haha. In that case, they should just sell it at a discounted price (380 yen) instead of deducting 50 yen. As for the taste, it was just okay. A bit salty maybe? The noodles were medium thick and curly. The toppings consisted of a large piece of pork char siu, along with green onions, bean sprouts, and bamboo shoots, just the bare minimum. It seems like they really stick to the bare minimum here. The dumplings were juicy and quite large, providing a satisfying bite. I had eaten breakfast earlier, so I wasn't very hungry, but surprisingly, it didn't quite hit the spot haha. Nevertheless, I was satisfied with this meal. Well, I hope everything's alright. Thank you for the meal.

A trip to Hakodate on the Shinkansen. On the way back, I just had to try the famous Hakodate salt ramen. It was delicious. The soup was clear and not too salty, yet it had a rich flavor. Absolutely fantastic. The miso ramen was quite ordinary in comparison!

I arrived at Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto Station by Shinkansen and used it for lunch. Onjiki is a chain restaurant in Hakodate city, but personally, I like their white miso ramen the best among all the miso ramen I've tried in Hakodate. This time, I tried their salt ramen. It was also quite delicious. It's nice that they offer free extra noodles as well. Thank you for the meal.

I returned to Tokyo by taking the Shinkansen from Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto Station. Since there is only one Shinkansen every two hours, I decided to have lunch at this ramen shop. I ordered the popular "Trappist Ramen" for 850 yen. I couldn't decide between salt or miso, but I went with the miso ramen made with Hachimitsu miso. It was quickly ready since the shop was not crowded. The ramen looked delicious with a big piece of Trappist butter on top. Since I'm a tourist, I went with the miso butter corn ramen (laughs). I added some finely chopped chili pepper and shichimi pepper for a bit of spiciness. The spiciness added a nice kick to the miso soup. The butter melted into the soup, making it sweet. The corn sank to the bottom of the soup and was a bit hard to scoop up. This was my last meal in Hokkaido! It was delicious miso butter corn ramen.

I ordered Trappist ramen, but I got regular salt ramen instead, even though the staff confirmed the flavor. I was disappointed to not get the corn and butter toppings shown in the menu. The salt ramen was too salty, and when I went to pay, I found out they charged me for salt ramen instead of what I actually ordered. I asked for salt or miso flavor, but it was a surprise and disappointment. If I had just ordered salt ramen, maybe I would have enjoyed it more.

This is the New Hakodate Kitadai Station, a ramen restaurant called "Onjiki Niwa Hon" that has about 5 locations in the Hakodate area. However, after eating this and that, I don't have room for ramen and my bus transfer time is running out. I had the Yamakawa Ranch Soft Serve Ice Cream (Vanilla) for 310 yen. When asked if it was for takeout, I naturally said "takeout" with an 8% tax rate. I sat at the eat-in corner in front of the store's facility. It was moderately sweet with a lighter milk flavor than I expected. I quickly ate it and headed to the bus stop. Thank you for the meal.

I watched a travel show on TV in September or October where two celebrities were denied entry with cameras, but I managed to get in. I was surprised to see a menu with shark fin ramen, so I decided to try it since the price wasn't too high. I ordered the "Shark Fin Ramen" and chose the salt flavor over miso, as it was more popular. The noodles were thin and it came with green onions, chashu, and shark fin. When I took the first sip of the soup, I thought it had an elegant taste.

Trappist salt ramen... This is it. Salt ramen with Trappist butter. Butter in salt ramen is a classic combination. Well, miso is also a classic and delicious choice. But before melting the butter, the ramen is just as it is. It's a straightforward and common salt ramen. When I say common salt ramen, I mean it's just a normal and delicious salt ramen. The saltiness is quite sharp, but I like it that way. The noodles, with a slightly higher water content, are also good. When the Trappist butter melts, it adds a richness to the dish. The sweetness of the butter and the existing saltiness create a different kind of flavor. I wasn't expecting much from the tenant at Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto Station, but this is pretty good. It may not become a wildly popular ramen, but it's enough to satisfy the need for one last bowl of ramen before leaving Hokkaido. Thank you for the meal.

The ramen shop near the station is popular. The recommended dish is the salt ramen with butter on top. It was my first time trying it and it was incredibly delicious.

A precious ramen shop located at Hakodate-Kita-Dote Station. Just enough time to eat before catching the bullet train. Light yet flavorful, with firm noodles. Simple and delicious. The portion is on the smaller side but on the pricier end. Thank you for the meal.

Onjiki Tei Hon is a long-established ramen restaurant with multiple locations in Hakodate City. This particular shop is located in a building adjacent to the starting and ending point station of the Hokkaido Shinkansen, Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto Station. Hakodate's salt ramen, like Sapporo's miso ramen, has been loved by locals for a long time. The noodles, which are sold in local supermarkets, are made by a local noodle company and are served with salt soup. In the past, when commercial products were not as readily available as they are now, people used to go to the local butcher to get chicken bones to make their own ramen soup at home. Although there have been some changes and variations over the years, the basic flavor has remained unchanged, which is great. The noodles are typically medium-thick egg noodles. This place often uses bean sprouts, but it's common to find wheat gluten in the ramen, which I enjoy. This bowl of ramen is very simple, so it may not be satisfying as a full meal, but I think the lightness of it is nice. Also, even though the ramen is salt-flavored, the staff are friendly and accommodating, so there's no need to worry about the salt content.

This is in Hokuto, near Oshamambe Station. It's not a building directly connected to the station, but I think it was a different building. It's a ramen shop, but outside the shop, there was a flag waving for Yamakawa's soft serve ice cream. They even had a coffee flavor! I ordered a coffee mix soft serve for takeout, and when they handed it to me, they warned me that it was still hard (and easy to drop). But when I tried it, it was really hard, not like Yamakawa's soft serve at all! Please make sure to serve the soft serve in the right condition. Even in the winter season, when I go to the original shop, they only have vanilla flavor. So, it's great that I can have coffee flavor here if it's in good condition. Keep up the good work!
