On this day off, we arrived at Viva Shokudo and enjoyed a peaceful view from our seats. I ordered a seafood macaroni gratin with egg topping and a non-alcoholic drink, while my wife had the chicken macaroni gratin with extra cheese topping. The dishes came with Calpis jelly and coleslaw. The seafood macaroni was delicious with shrimp, squid, and creamy white sauce, while the chicken macaroni had a generous portion of Hokkaido chicken and extra cheese. My wife also enjoyed a tasty bread made with Biei wheat. We left the restaurant satisfied and headed to Biei Shrine.

The gratin and bread were delicious! The staff were amazing, they took our order while we waited in the car before the shop opened, so we could enjoy the hot gratin right away. I'm happy that there is a place in Biei where you can eat delicious gratin. The atmosphere of the shop is also stylish and I love it.

It is located at the back of the parking lot, blending in with the forest atmosphere. You check in inside and wait in your car. They inform you that it will take over 40 minutes to be seated since they only start cooking after taking orders, and there were already two groups ahead of you. After that, a few more cars arrived, but maybe because it was already 1 pm, they were turned away due to the long wait time. You purchase food tickets to place your order. Bread items were already sold out. The chicken option for the gratin was also no longer available. I chose the seafood gratin. The ingredients were not very noticeable, but not too firm either, blending well and delicious. The vegetable gratin that my child ordered seemed to have fewer macaroni, perhaps because it had potatoes and pumpkins. The jelly served with the meal... maybe unnecessary. Why serve jelly when everything else is so carefully prepared? Overall, it was a good meal.

I was interested in a restaurant that appeared on EXILE's travel show, and decided to visit for dinner. The restaurant is a bit hard to find as it is surrounded by trees, but it is located near Misawa Elementary School and Misawa Shrine. The restaurant's concept is simple - they serve only gratin made with wheat from Biei and local Hokkaido ingredients. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is cozy and has a distinct Hokkaido feel. I ordered the vegetable macaroni gratin with an egg topping, along with bread and iced coffee. The payment is made through a vending machine near the entrance where you purchase food tickets. The bread is served first and you can toast it yourself using the Aladdin toaster in the restaurant. The gratin arrived hot and creamy, with a perfect balance of flavors. It was so delicious that I finished it quickly. The meal also came with a mini salad and dessert on the side. I really enjoyed the experience and would love to visit this restaurant again. If you ever find yourself in Biei, be sure to check it out!

The restaurant review is about a visit to a popular cafe called "Handmade Bread Cafe Picnic" that closed in 2018. The reviewer arrived before the opening time of 11:30 and was the first in line. The cafe had a ticket machine and offered a variety of gratin dishes with optional toppings. The reviewer chose a seafood gratin and enjoyed the delicious white sauce. The cafe quickly filled up with customers, indicating its continued popularity. Despite the wait, the reviewer was happy with the hot gratin and appreciated the addition of octopus. The review concludes with a wish for the cafe's continued success.

This is a gratin specialty shop that opened in Biei on April 22nd. Located on route 966 towards Shirogane from the center of Biei, you will see a sign that says "Gratin" on the right side. Turn right there and you will see a small building surrounded by trees like a forest, which is the shop. I visited about a month and a half after the opening and it seemed very popular, with a constant flow of customers coming in. It seems to be run by a couple, with the husband in the kitchen and the wife handling the front of the house, providing very friendly service. I didn't have much information, but I saw some posts on Facebook and blogs, so I already knew what to order. Being the first customer to enter... I didn't know this, but you have to purchase a food ticket from a vending machine. It can be a bit stressful if people start lining up behind you. I ordered the "Seafood Macaroni Gratin" (1,180 yen), "Biei Wheat Bread" (200 yen), and "Furano Carrot Juice" (450 yen). I was curious about the toppings, but I saw on the blackboard that the extra topping for the day was "Biei-grown Asparagus" for 250 yen. I wish I had added that topping, but buying four food tickets would have been too much. The drink and bread came first, followed by the gratin after about 20 minutes. The Seafood Macaroni Gratin had a smooth and rich cream sauce with a nice crispy top. It was one of the best gratins I've had. The seafood was a bit small, but it didn't bother me much because the base gratin was so delicious. Coleslaw and jelly were also included in the set. The Biei Wheat Bread included baguette and sandwich bread, which tasted great even without butter. The Furano Carrot Juice had a natural sweetness that paired well with the gratin and bread. Overall, it was a satisfying meal. However, there were a few things you had to do yourself, like pouring water, toasting the bread, and buying food tickets, which could be a bit overwhelming. It might be a good system for smooth service, but it would be nice to have more information displayed outside the shop to make the ordering process easier. The gratin was delicious and the location was great, but the ordering process could be improved.

I visited on the opening day and was the last customer of the day. I have a talent for being late (laughs). People of all ages were visiting. I ordered what was on the menu. You can also choose various toppings. The cottage cheese salad and desserts look delicious too. The vegetable gratin actually comes with a separate dish for fondue. They have put a lot of thought into it. It's perfect to enjoy such dishes in Biei Town, Misawa. I think both tourists and locals would enjoy it. I would like to visit again.

The gratin specialty restaurant in Biei-cho, Misawa, was delicious, with a light and not too heavy taste. I added pepper halfway through and the asparagus topping was thick and sweet!

I went to a special gratin shop that I heard was opening this spring near my workplace. The place was packed with cars and bugs flying around, but I waited for an hour to finally place my order. The chicken macaroni gratin I ordered was small and not very impressive in size. The taste was just average, neither exceptional nor disappointing. Is it worth waiting in line for? Maybe for tourists, but not for me.
