kuroda
This is a restaurant located on the south side of Osaka Abenobashi Station on the Kintetsu Minami Osaka Line, on the first floor of the Kishimoto Building, serving tonkatsu and curry. The restaurant is a collaboration between the tonkatsu veteran "KYK" operated by Kyokuta Shoten and the popular curry establishment "San Marco". The interior features a large U-shaped counter on the left side, with table and booth seating on the right side and near the entrance, totaling 44 seats in a bright and spacious layout. The menu consists of various tonkatsu and fry set meals, various curries, and omurice, with the tonkatsu curry being a popular choice. I ordered the "KYK Zen" (1,350 yen), which combines loin katsu and shrimp fry. The dish arrived promptly with chopsticks, pickles, and cold roasted green tea. The main plate with 80g of loin katsu and 2 shrimp fries, shredded cabbage, potato salad, tartar sauce, sliced tomato, and lemon was served with rice and miso soup. The tonkatsu, though slightly small at 80g, had a perfect rose-pink color and a crispy coating with a light and tender texture. The meat was flavorful and tender, with a light and not greasy taste. The demi-glace sauce complemented the tonkatsu well. The shrimp fry was also crispy and had a plump texture. The tartar sauce was delicious. Kyokuta Shoten, the company behind the well-known KYK brand, is located in Matsuzaki-cho, south of here. The meaning of "KYK" is said to be "Keep You Kindly," reflecting their commitment to providing heartfelt hospitality. However, the name actually originated from the Kawaramachi Yousai Kenkyuujo sewing institute, which later became a cafe named K・Y・K.
