Wandering new curry mania / rookie ramen mania, a solo middle-aged man. This is a memo-like review. If you want concise information about the restaurant & food, please move on to other people's reviews. (This time, it's longer than usual...)
As the summer vacation is scattered, I have weekdays off every week. This week is a rare pattern where I have consecutive holidays, so I'm thinking of exploring a bookstore in the city. I've already read all the books by my favorite authors, and the next new book is scheduled for a month later, so I can't wait... Hmm, the bookstore has a lot of books, but I can't seem to find any that really catch my interest. Since I've come all the way to the city, I'll choose two books and dive into them.
I spent too much time in the bookstore and it's already past lunchtime, what should I do? Oh, I haven't visited the "soup specialty shop" started by a long-established curry shop in Sapporo yet. I wonder if there are any other options... As I was thinking about it and heading towards Sapporo Station, I saw the Shikishima Building in front of me. Oh, that's right. There are several shops in this building that I haven't visited yet. The restaurants are concentrated in the basement. Hmm, which one should I choose? There's a restaurant with a colorful lunch plate that caught my eye. I remember seeing it on social media before, where there are plenty of side dishes neatly arranged on the plate, but I'm wondering, "Is the amount of rice enough?" The location is Nishi 3-jo Kita 2-chome, Chuo-ku. It's on the basement 1st floor of the "Shikishima Building," but it's at the end. It's easier to say that it's right after entering the building from the underground walkway. I entered the restaurant around 1:30 p.m.
The restaurant has a wide open entrance designed like an "open cafe" to prevent the air from getting stale. Also, each seat has a partition panel. It's probably because it's underground, but it's a nice feature of the restaurant nowadays. And the staff near the register sprayed disinfectant on the hands of the customers, which is also a high point. The interior of the restaurant is very clean, almost like a new restaurant. The staff are calm and provide attentive service. Wow, it's a nice atmosphere. I found out that the restaurant has been open for three and a half years. But if it were during the busy lunch hours around noon, it might be a bit intimidating for a solo middle-aged man. The atmosphere seems to be more female-oriented. Well, you'll have to see for yourself. You can easily see the inside of the restaurant because it's in an open cafe style. It was a weekday, so the lunch rush for office workers in the area was over. There was a group of two women, a couple, and a solo female customer in front of me. The restaurant has counter seats divided into "5 seats" with partition panels, with chairs arranged in pairs. Maybe it's enough space for two women to sit side by side. And one chair is slightly moved back, which is a clever consideration. Maybe I misunderstood it by myself, thinking that it's okay for a solo middle-aged man to use it. The oval counter table in the center of the restaurant is also divided into "5 seats," I think. There are also five individual table seats.
I looked at the menu and hesitated a lot, but I stuck to my initial decision.
- Daily plate
- Homemade lemonade, total 1150 yen (900 yen + 350 yen - 100 yen)
The homemade lemonade was unexpected. Actually, I was hooked on the "melon soda" first. Even though I hadn't ordered the main dish yet, I couldn't help but ask, "Does it come with ice?" The calm staff replied, "It doesn't come with ice, but it's made with multiple syrups..." (I felt like saying, "Isn't it a cream soda?") I accepted it with a "Oh, I see," but I couldn't just leave without ordering something. So I thought, why not try the "Manuka honey," a high-quality honey. It's the same price anyway (laughs). After ordering, the lemonade arrived in a few minutes. Huh? Huh? It's in a stand-type Ziploc-like container. It had a straw that could bend to make a "heart" design.
