Yes, I had a night shift. I came back this morning and had a mediocre breakfast, so I'm hungry! But I woke up just in time, so I can't eat breakfast slowly... In times like this, I visited Matsuya Sakuragawa store for the second time. This time, I skipped the salad set and ordered a large beef bowl! I ordered it on the touch panel, like number 108. Although I expected it to be served in seconds, I had to wait for about 5 minutes. When my number was called, I went to pick it up... Then I added pickled ginger and shichimi pepper, mixed it all together, and finished it all. Sorry for the sloppy rice (laughs). Thank you for the meal.

Yes, as usual, I have a night shift (^ω^) Today, I was busy running errands at the bank so I didn't have time to make dinner or breakfast due to lack of sleep. In times like this, you head to Matsuya for a quick meal, right? Despite the rain, I made it to Sakuragawa without an umbrella. I really wanted to have ramen but ended up ordering the beef bowl for 420 yen. Matsuya always includes miso soup which is nice. I couldn't find the salad set, so I just ordered the beef bowl. Matsuya operates on a system where you choose your seat, order at the ticket machine, and wait for your number to be called to pick up your food. I forgot to order without sauce for my beef bowl this time! I added pickled ginger and shichimi to the beef bowl, and shichimi to the miso soup. Matsuya's beef bowl is probably the lightest among the four major beef bowl chains. I'll do my best on my night shift now.

Split-second decisions are crucial, and they can lead to unforeseen outcomes. It's unavoidable. All we can do is try our best in each moment. Today, I visited Matsuya Sakuragawa branch. I wanted to try their limited menu item, the "Meat Sauce Bowl" available only in Western Japan. I tried the Egg Meat Sauce Bowl with a side of fresh vegetables, pork soup, and raw egg set for 850 yen. The Meat Sauce Bowl comes with a choice of topping, either a fried egg or macaroni salad, and I chose the fried egg. I purchased the meal ticket from the machine, but the person in front of me was taking a while to order, making me nervous. The staff came to assist, and my order was finally placed. The taste was just as I had imagined, with the acidity of tomatoes, the texture of minced meat, and the presence of carrots. The extra raw egg was added to the pork soup, which was delicious. It was a satisfying meal. Thank you. I'm curious about trying the Chapche Combo Gyudon next time. The path ahead requires diligence, but if we persevere, we will have no regrets in the end.

The curry as a finisher after drinking is devilishly delicious but devilish for the body. I knew I shouldn't, but I did it anyway. It's so tasty. The waiter brought it without the "gyu" (beef). I mustered up the courage to point it out to the waiter, and it turns out it was indeed a mistake. They apologized very politely, but I didn't really mind - did they have to start from scratch? If so, that's a shame.

The kimchi stew with beef and tofu was quite voluminous, with a generous amount of beef included. The set also came with grilled kalbi beef. The total price was 890 yen including tax. I opted for extra rice for free and also got a complimentary side salad with a JAF coupon. Matsuya seems to focus more on set meals than just beef bowls.

I came to Japan to do some shopping at Sakuragawa, so for lunch, I went to a nearby Matsuya. While Yoshinoya has also expanded its menu and can no longer be simply called a beef bowl restaurant, Matsuya is known for its wide variety of menu options. Some people even say that Matsuya is a curry restaurant. Today, I tried the limited menu item, the Mini Steak for 790 yen. The quality of the meat was decent and the price was fair, so I have no complaints.

Late-night meal. Hamburger set meal (600 yen). For a while, there was a new menu called "nanika" at this hamburger restaurant, but now that it's over, the standard menu is back. I didn't like any of the new items at this chain. When I eat here, it's always either hamburger or pork loin. Consistent taste. I'm satisfied once again tonight. Thank you for the meal.

Matsuya is offering a "weekly test menu" available only at select stores. This week, they are serving Black Truffle Sauce Beef Hamburg. Truffles are a high-end ingredient in French cuisine, similar to matsutake mushrooms. I decided to visit Matsuya in Sakuragawa after researching the stores that sell this dish online. Truffles are highly regarded by gourmet connoisseurs around the world, although I'm not quite sure why. Putting that aside, it's surprising that a chain beef bowl restaurant has incorporated such a luxurious ingredient into their dish. Let's try it out. I ordered the dish with extra rice. The dish arrived, with a beef hamburger in an iron pot topped with cream sauce. I noticed some potatoes in addition to the hamburger. The hamburger is very thick and meaty. First, I customized my salad with ponzu sauce, chili pepper, and pickled ginger. It's a ritual to eat vegetables first, as it is said to help reduce blood sugar spikes and sudden increases in blood sugar levels after meals. Now, let's try the Black Truffle Sauce Beef Hamburg. I started with just the thick hamburger patty. I read somewhere about a hamburger that is so tender it can be cut with chopsticks, but fortunately, I've never encountered such a hamburger. Juices seeped out from the hamburger's cross-section. Matsuya's hamburgers are of high quality. As I eat it, it tastes like a regular hamburger. Now, let's dip it in the black truffle sauce. Wow, it's very garlicky. The cream sauce is packed with garlic. It's extremely rich and salty. I once had a Georgian dish called "Shkmeruli" at Matsuya, and the abundance of garlic in that white stew reminds me of this sauce. This sauce is dangerously delicious. The richness and strong saltiness make it so satisfying even with extra rice. Besides garlic, there's a unique aroma in my mouth that I've never experienced before. Could this be the truffle?

I had the Goro Goro Chicken Curry from Yoshinoya and it was a showdown with my rival. I remember it being very spicy when I had it a few years ago, so this time I ordered a raw egg to make it milder. The chicken in Yoshinoya's Goro Goro Chicken Curry is made with thigh meat. Both thigh and breast meat had their own deliciousness, with the chicken meat tasting equally good. Yoshinoya's curry is served with the curry and rice separated, allowing you to pour it little by little as you eat. In the end, even with the egg to make it milder, it was still a bit spicy for me.

It's hard to find restaurants open during the first three days of the new year, especially outside of busy areas, so chain restaurants are a lifesaver. With the AU Smart Pass coupon, the beef bowl that is normally 320 yen is only 220 yen, and they also have limited menu items like kitsune udon and curry udon. I like to pour extra sauce on Matsuya's beef bowl to make it taste even richer, like a beef rice bowl. The curry udon is quite spicy, with noodles that are similar to the ones you can buy at the supermarket, and the tempura bits don't add much flavor. Adding shichimi spice makes it even spicier, which is just right for someone like me who loves spicy food. Being able to eat all of this for only 400 yen was a great deal.

Matsuya's curry drink is trending? Let's jump on the bandwagon here! Chibis is trying Matsuya for the first time. "What do they have?" Let's just go and decide on the spot! Chibis chose: Curry Udon Mini Beef (620 yen), Hamburger Set Meal (590 yen). It feels like a family restaurant experience! Is Matsuya a family restaurant? I already know what I want: New Curry Sauce (260 yen), Beer Medium Bottle (480 yen). The Hamburger Set Meal arrived quickly! Curry Udon and Curry Sauce also arrived at the same time! Finally, the beer. The Curry Sauce is quite rich in flavor, as Saté would say, with a strong cumin aroma. Yes, it's worth it for this price! The Curry Udon was a bit too spicy for Chibis. The Japanese-style broth was good, though! The mini bowl had a sweet seasoning, especially the onions were very sweet! At this point, my son finished the Hamburger Set Meal and said, "Mom, I want to eat the hamburger again." I know, I know. "Choose one then." He chose: Cheese Delicious Tomato Hamburger (790 yen). Well, okay. But this is delicious! The tomato cheese sauce with a lot of garlic and a soft-boiled egg is amazing! But, 790 yen though. You can have a lunch at any other place for that price. The total was 3220 yen. Cheap! Whether we will come back again is a mystery. Thank you for the meal! ♥

This was my first time at Matsuya! I was surprised to find not just beef bowls, but also udon and other dishes available. I ordered udon with a side of beef bowl. My friend ordered the hamburger set and curry. The udon was a bit spicy, so I thought it would be nice to add some rice to it. The beef bowl had tender beef with a slightly sweet flavor. The hamburger was juicy and delicious. However, the curry was too spicy for me to eat. This restaurant is cheap, delicious, and definitely worth a visit. Bon appétit!

At Matsuya, they were serving a dish called "Yamagata dashi" on top of beef rice. It's exciting to be able to try regional dishes that you don't usually get to eat. And to have it at a casual beef bowl restaurant is even better. "Dashi" in this case is not broth, but a local dish from Yamagata Prefecture. It consists of finely chopped vegetables (cucumbers, eggplants) seasoned with soy sauce. It's more like a dish from a hot region, but it seems like it would be appetizing on a hot summer day when you don't have much of an appetite. With the Yamagata dashi on top of the beef rice, there's no way it could taste bad. And it also helps make up for any lack of vegetables in your diet. If you feel like it needs more ginger flavor, you can add some pickled ginger. I savored this regional dish while trying to resist the urge to gobble it all up. Now, I can't help but look forward to trying the next regional dish. I hope they continue expanding these kinds of promotions!

Today was the final tournament of the year for my amateur baseball team. I woke up before 4 am to prepare myself and headed out for the game. Before heading to the field, I stopped by Matsuya for breakfast. I don't usually come here, so I was a bit lost with the ordering system. I ended up getting the "morning set" for 350 yen. It's been a while since I had a meal like this, and it was a nice change. The portion was a bit big, so I was worried about getting a stomachache during warm-up. Matsuya Sakuragawa Store, Osaka.
