Around 2018, there was a unique restaurant that started focusing on "motsunabe" (tripe hot pot). Curious, I decided to visit. Upon entering the restaurant, I noticed there was a dart board and trophies related to awards displayed inside. It turns out, the owner of this place is really good at darts. Upon further research, I found out that the owner is a professional darts player, and the restaurant originally started as a dart bar before evolving into its current form. In January 2018, it was rebranded from "TiTO Bridge" to "TiTO Bridge Tetsuri"! I'm not picky when it comes to food and drinks as long as the service is good, so I focused on tasting the dishes.
- Otoshi (appetizer) for 300 yen: A Japanese-style soup with chicken bones and vegetables. It was like having a water-based hot pot before the motsunabe, but for 300 yen, it was worth it.
- Draft beer for 550 yen: Kirin Ichiban Shibori. Served in a chilled glass, it had a good taste, but the small size of the mug was a bit disappointing. Opting for a bottle (600 yen) would be a better deal.
- Motsunabe for 800 yen: The signature dish. I wasn't expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised! You can order it per person, and it's served in a clay pot which enhances the appetite. The ingredients were simple - tripe, cabbage, and leeks - but the tender and flavorful tripe showed the careful selection and preparation. The soy sauce-based soup had a refreshing and gentle taste, likely a mix of seafood and chicken broth. It was so delicious that I finished the soup as well.
- Hand-wrapped pan-fried dumplings (10 pieces) for 600 yen: Another recommended dish. As a dumpling lover, I had high hopes for this. The appearance and cooking method were commendable, but the filling lacked a bit of impact in terms of meatiness, juiciness, and garlic flavor. With a nearby popular dumpling shop, the impression of these dumplings was a bit overshadowed. Good value for money though.
- Highball for 500 yen: Made with Black Nikka whiskey, it had the right amount of carbonation and was satisfying.
Overall, the highlight was definitely the motsunabe, available for individual orders and reasonably priced at 800 yen. Apart from motsunabe, there are many other izakaya menu items to choose from. If I ever crave motsunabe again, I would consider stopping by here. Thank you for the meal.
